We highly recommend CertaPro Painters. Their work was professional, their workers were respectful, friendly and trustworthy. We felt comfortable coming and going throughout the project. Our house was in desperate need of repair. The stucco had fallen apart over the years with the sprinklers and rain beating against the structure. CertaPro left it looking better than when we first purchased the house years ago. The house looks brand new. CertaPro kept to their promise. They were detailed orientated and went over the house, fine tuning their work -- going over any missed spots. We can certainly pay money to have work done to our house, but being able to trust strangers with our home and family is quite another issue. We would certainly rely on CertaPro Painters to work on other projects in the future. Our onsite foreman Carlos did a wonderful job and updated us daily at the end of each work day. My point of contact was a millenial named Andrew Bliek, and in retrospect, I was warned when his business card had a photo of him looking like he just rolled out of bed. From the moment I signed the contract, he became rude and unresponsive. Just to list a few examples, he would talk over me, make stupid faces at me, fail to respond to emails/texts, and arrive late despite promises to arrive at "8:30 sharp." On top of that, there was poor communication between him and his coworkers. As a result, there were numerous setbacks. To list just a few examples, my house was painted the wrong color, surfaces were painted without first being primed, surfaces that were not supposed to be painted ended up being painted, and the Porta Potty was delivered a day late. To make up for the setbacks, the unsupervised painters tried to cut corners whenever possible, even failing to tape and cover properly (resulting in a significant amount of paint sprayed on plants and landscaping). When Andrew tried to walk off the job and I threatened to fire CertaPro, the owner Bob Mauser intervened to restore proper customer service. However, the quality of work was still questionable. For example, the attached photo shows a wall without primer on some parts. According to Bob, this is normal. In the end, I just wanted them off my property. I paid for 10 gallons of paint, but only 5 gallons were used. Strangely, when a third of my house was painted the wrong color, they used 4 gallons just for a single coat. There is a 2-year warranty, but the numerous exceptions render it useless. read more

Before CertaPro painted the building I live in, tenants received a letter from CertaPro stating the hours they would be painting and that they are an EPA certified lead renovation, repair, and painting contractor (our building is old and has lead paint). It also asked that our windows be closed, so they were all closed before the work began. When the paint removal began outside of my kitchen, it was really loud so I peeked in the kitchen. The painter had opened my kitchen window about an inch and there was debris blowing in all over my clean dishes. I don't think the EPA would condone that? We were not informed of their process though, so I tried to not get too upset. In the afternoon, the painters were at my bedroom window and it sounded like someone was fighting with the blinds. I looked in and my jaw dropped. My bedroom window was open at least 1 foot, the painter was hitting the blinds every time he moved, and debris was blowing in. Not only that, but the painter was talking very loudly with others with no mask on during a pandemic in front of my now wide-open window. While I did not hire CertaPro to begin with, I would never recommend them to anyone. The service was so unprofessional and I had no peace of mind until they were gone. read more

Shortly after, I received two text messages from a couple randoms at CertaPro. This was very confusing to me, so I had to call back and ask about it. The receptionist confirmed that the two men were part of Scott's crew. I hired Certapro to paint the interior of my house. Their price was the best out of the other 3 bids I got which I found surprising. I was hesitant initially with the idea of having strangers in my house, but my wife and I felt at ease right away after we met the crew. Had full exterior of our residential building done less than 2 years ago. In just a few months after job was done, areas were bubbling and cracking and peeling. In areas never bubbled before. It wasn't in bad shape to start with just needed a refresh. It's now much worse than it was before. I'm also very upset about the beautiful wood work they talked me into stripping and restaining. There was nothing wrong with it at all. But they assured me that if I don't do it, that it would rot. Guess what?! Their horrible job started to immediately crack and peel in a few months. There's weird black moldy spots now! Looks like untreated wood when I had beautifully stained wood before! I'm also surprised to read about the Andrew guy still being around. He was a nightmare too. Totally disorganized and uncommunicative after the sale. Forgot to select colors with me so I was forced to select the evening before job started because they already scheduled the painters! What?! There's nothing "pro" about CertaPro painters. They were unprofessional, snarky, dishonest and messy. Let me provide details and pictures. I was eager for the job to begin-- painting living room, dining room and two stairways. The job was ~500 sq. ft. and took 4 days. They started with the living room/dining room area. They didn't have the paint needed for the job, although I contacted them the week prior with color choices. They were not prepared so it delayed work a bit. On the first day they (2 guys: a "foreman" and a helper who did menial work) spent two hours taping the area. Then they painted. The paint ended up on the cabinets, fireplace stone and adjoining walls. (See pictures). When I mentioned this to the foreman, he said: "Paint always bleeds through. Don't believe the advertisements that say tape prevents paint bleeding." This seemed unexpected for a "professional" painter, but OK, that was his statement. He also told me the paint in the small kitchen area was a different color because of the light, on a day that it was raining and cloudy and he had not turned on the lights. The paint was (and IS) a different color. I share this only as an example of the multiple excuses he made about: uneven paint lines, paint "bleeding", different colors of paint from supposed same paint colors, and many more that I could share. They didn't fix bumps or blemishes on the wall. They simply painted over them, creating more bumps and disfiguration, including painting over nails. (In interviewing other paint companies, I was told most companies fix these blemishes so you get a professional look.) At the end of the first day, the foreman apologized for being "rude" (his word). I wouldn't say he was "rude", I'd say he was unprofessional, snarky and gave excuses for mistakes rather than fixing them. In addition to the painting mistakes, they were unprofessional in other ways. They took over my house for 4 days, doing whatever they wanted. For example, they poured paint down my kitchen sink which left a film over the entire sink. They did not clean it up. (By the way, there is a faucet downstairs near where they were storing paint. They could have used this faucet but instead used kitchen sink) When I mentioned this the next day, they used the bathroom sink instead and left a mess in that sink as well. They unplugged my washer and dryer, without asking or mentioning it, so they could plug in their own devices. They could have asked and I likely would have said "yes". They did whatever they wanted in my home; whatever was convenient for them, without showing respect or courtesy to the homeowner. (I have several more examples but this gives you the idea.) I suggest the Company provide training on "respecting customer's homes" and communication training. A simple conversation about use of a kitchen sink and use of homeowner's space might help avoid these issues. Communication is key! By the way, I worked for a global construction company for 20+ years and know that you can complete jobs like this while being respectful and courteous AND doing excellent work. We were highly professional and customer-oriented, and grew to 65,000 people because of a successful approach to business and customers. Lastly, they damaged my wood floor (pictures below) and refused to take responsibility for it. In my experience, a professional person is honest and owns up to his mistakes. This is an important aspect of being a professional-- being honest and ethical. I cannot recommend this company in good faith. Different crews produce different experiences of course, and you may find luck with different people. This was my experience within my home. read more

I hired CertaPro to paint two rooms a deep shade of blue. They did a terrific job with close attention to the details. Also, I forgot that I had paid for them to paint the inside of one of the closet doors. After they had finished up and left, I checked the original contract and realized my oversight.
