My parents in law used Certified Chimney Service in the winter of 2019 to have two of their chimneys redone. With regards to the chimney off the furnace, Certified Chimney Service never procured a permit you do the work, and then never finished the work. On top of that, Certified Chimney Service, despite never finishing the work, doubled charged them $5k. Certified Chimney Service cashed a check provided, but also charged a backup credit card provided by my parents in law. Certified Chimney Service never resolved the double charge, despite telling my parents in law they would fix it for months. Finally the credit card company reversed the charge, not Certified Chimney Service. My parents in law have called Certified Chimney Service more times than they can count and visited their office four times in the past year to resolve all these issues. A year later the chimney isn't finished. Avoid Certified Chimney Service at all costs! read more

Avoid them in all cost are extortionist be aware. I called them for an estimate for chimney verification and were looking to create problems and threatening to report their finding to authorities. Claiming there is a hole in the chimney on a 20 inch stone foundation. Their technician which is the owner took a picture without my permission regardless I warn him not to do so. Their office called back which the owners sister works to harass me that I refuse to pay for their services which initially I call them for an estimate. I had to throw them out of my house. Great service and the two gentlemen that came to my home to clean my chimney were extremely professional and very considerate. I have hired Certified Chimney Service in Denville NJ on several occasions and have been extremely impressed each and every time. They took the time to take pictures and explain what needed to be done to fix my issue. When they came to do the chimney I was not home. It looked nice from my driveway, but when I went on the roof to inspect, I saw cracks from the mortar and cement drying that were not normal. I was back at square one with the issue of moisture getting in the brick to freeze and thaw during the winter which will cause the same issues I had before they came. They came out the next week to fix and make sure everything is good. It was a hot day according to them which caused the cement to dry quicker and caused it to lift off the brick and cause the hairline fractures in the mortar between the bricks. They chiseled the bad areas and redid. I am a hard person to please with all my luck and I would recommend them to fix your chimney issue read more

Beware! Terrible customer service! I cant even comment on the work because they never showed up. Scheduled for a Wednesday, said they would call the day before to let me know what time they would be coming, since I work, never called. Called Wednesday morning and they said they would be there "late morning." After all that I described, the company seemingly rectified the situation with the town. They got a permit, completed the work, and the town approved everything. The two men who performed the work were respectful and I had zero issues with them. So just when I was starting to think maybe I was harsh in my previous reviews and that I was FINALLY finished with the great chimney saga ... they overcharge me by more than $700. Outrageously horrific customer service follows. When I request a refund, they say they contacted their bank. Days go by and no credit is on my account. LIE. When I call them on this and say I'm disputing with the credit card company, they LIE again and say they will drop off a check for the difference... (I thought you contacted your bank to process a refund???) It's been about four days since the day I was told a check would be dropped off. Spoiler: there has been no check. I anticipated this of course so the bank dispute has been underway. These people are lucky I don't report them for fraud. I started by thinking they were just wildly incompetent but I'm leaning towards this being intentional behavior. read more

They may be good for chimney repair/service but who would know?? The girl in charge of the office never answers the phone or calls you back when you leave a message. Never gives you a firm date or bother to let you know when they are planning to come by to work. They take your deposit and 2 1/2 months later still no date to complete job..then they keep your cc number on file and charge it without even contacting you for consent for the balance. Awful! The technitian was good. The rest of it was very bad. Starting from them cancelling on us 2 times for no reason. Then lying to us about the fact that we were their first customer in the morning. Then making us and 2 realtors wait for 2 hours and showing up extremely late. The receptionist is very nasty and rude. Do not use this service unless you can't find anyone else, since their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. P.S. 2 weeks later we still do not have the report of the inspection that was supposed to be emailed to us. read more

Don't use this company. They told me they had pulled permits before doing the work on my chimney but had not. Now I am trying to get my job approved with my town and they won't send someone to approve the job until Certified Chimney gets permits. The curt woman in the office said two weeks ago she would handle it but has not. Stay away. read more

Had no problems at all with this company. Every one was professional. They came and did the estimate exactly when they said they would - they came back and did the job exactly when they said they would. The receptionist was pleasant and helpful - and I had several conversations with her. I highly recommend them. read more
