I called on Saturday and they were able to come on Tuesday which I appreciated, because the new A/C…read moreis being installed on Thursday. Malik cleaned our ducts and vents and sanitized them. Sanitizing the individual duct/vents was added ($25 extra for each vent) to the originally quoted package which he said only includes sanitizing the main duct, but I wanted that done after seeing the mold build-up on the vent registers. He also helped taking out the moldy vent registers because it's probably better just to replace than trying to clean them. Overall, glad we did the cleaning, though I wish it was clearly stated the vent sanitizing was NOT included in the quote, because the quote just said "...air duct cleaning includes up to 15 supply vents and returns, two main duct per single unit, sanitizer (to prevent mold growth)..." A little update: Later through the check-in with the owner, the owner Nick answered all my questions, told me how to maintain, and that we won't need to do a cleaning again until a few years later. Also after hearing my concern about the mold on the registers, he said the registers needed to be thrown out and replaced, but the ducts behind the vents themselves didn't have mold so didn't have to be sanitized, even though it was my request to sanitize them. I was told main duct/trunk sanitization is what they usually do and individual duct/vent sanitization is not a recommended practice actually. He offered to refund the extra charge for the vent sanitization that I didn't need. I appreciate that honesty and accountability.

Cancelled on me the first day and came three hours late the next day…read more To clean my dryer vent the guy on the phone said it would be a 100-200 bucks. Turns out they charge $30 a foot and my bill was about $750. They were at least supposed to quote me before doing the work but they didn't. I spoke up and they apologized for not showing me the quote first and charged me 400. I paid. And now that I'm playing it out in my mind, I feel like this might have been all by design. I think I was just played big time.

I had a chimney sweep go terribly wrong. Soot covered my house from end to end, from top to bottom…read more Let me say this - my livingroom has white furniture and white wall to wall carpeting. Allan Industries was recommended by my insurance company and I was nervous at first due to the 1 star review. Well, I had to write a review because of that. The job they did cleaning my house was EXCELLENT. I am a clean freak and I check all nooks, corners, under and over everything. They cleaned the soot from my home better than I would have thought any company could have done. Everyone who was part of the project was respectful, nice and mostly did not speak English bar the manager, Martin, who was an angel to work with. I would definitely recommend this company. I have had disasters in the past and Allan Industries is definitely the best I've worked with.

I've been out of my home for 2+ years as a result of a tree crashing through my roof during…read moreHurricane Sandy - I have vaulted ceilings, so when the tree came through (I was in the house at the time) I literally had an unplanned skylight. I went to work right away on lining up a contractor, but for different reasons none of those contacts panned out. In spring 2013, I turned to my insurance company to recommend a contractor in my area, and that's where Allan Industries comes into play. The contact assigned to me at Allan was nice enough, but I waited almost a year as the company "finalized" work estimates and kept me waiting for signed paperwork from them that I needed to submit to the mortgage company related to the intended repairs. Despite these issues, I stuck with Allan thinking my best option and I could use my insurance company (NJ Manufacturers) to push them along the way when things weren't moving - which is something I had to do a few times. In between all this, my insurance company issued me a pay out based on Allan Industries' initial estimate. Fast forward to late April/early May of 2014, I received an email from my contact at Allan that they rescind their contract and are no longer interested in the job - no explanation was offered - short and sweet and to the point. My insurance company was also not helpful - three phone calls to them before I was offered an explanation that the job was too big for Allan Industries and they couldn't work with the code issues my house requires; this explanation was given to me with a laugh in the insurance company reps voice. I was given a few other contractors names and wished good luck. I will compliment Allen on one item - early on in this issue, a harsh storm was headed for NJ and I was worried about the tarp over my roof - Allen got a team up there to put a new tarp over the hole a day or so before Thanksgiving easing my worries. At the time I had asked to know the cost to do this and was told not to worry as the tarp would just be "rolled into the cost of the overall repair"; a month before the email I received from Allan walking away from this job, I received a bill from them for the tarp work - with a note that interest would be added to the bill if not paid within 30 days. $400.00 - aren't they just absolute peaches? This is my experience with this company - the one star issued here is being EXTREMELY generous. I do not recommend this company at all.
