If you have patience with good food this is the beat seafood in Lisbon. But it's worth the wait.

Crab and lobsters the size of your head. I seriously have never seen so much meat. We took most of it home and had it for dinner again the next day. As others have recommended must eat the edible crab To avoid the long lines email the restaurant for a reservation. They are pretty responsive! read more

Totally worth it. Started with clams which were deserving of the bread, sopped up all the flavor and butter. Next, Scarlet shrimp with the most intense flavor experienced. I'm not one for the head fat, but i could not get enough. Avoid the tiger prawns and just order double scarlet shrimp. And yes, the steak sandwich, Prego, is worth, ask for the Piri sauce, crazy hot and suitable to the meat. read more

O Ramiro is O verated and therefore betrays your sense of trust. This much venerated establishment for the true seafood lovers can't stand a light to a true seafood restaurant. It's unlike me to rate a place poorly but for what you get and what you can get in Lisbon, this is worth the skip. The food is rather normal, with zero exceptionalism. There's not one dish that can be pointed to for its par excellence. The atmosphere is friendly but rushed. There's not much to say but this is one of the most overhyped foodie experiences I've ever had. read more

If you like seafood, this is your place. Amazing, fresh seafood, no other sauce or dipping needed, eat it fresh, simply a squeeze of lemon, grill with salt, or garlic butter. When you are done with the seafood, top it of with a steak sandwich, it is Portuguese tradition. Great wine selection as well read more

The best seafood I've ever had in my life! The tiger prawns, crab, goose barnacles, and bread are a MUST! Spread the crab fat on the bread and you won't go wrong. Head there before opening for the best wait times, heard people arrive there for dinner and have had to wait 1+ hrs. read more

We heard Ramiro's had reopened and decided to go for a late lunch. The wait was about 1/2 hour. The wait was made easier by a fun 2 serve yourself beer in the wait area. Although The waiter spoke little English, he was patient and our Danish table-mates (there were no tables for 2) were kind enough to help us with selecting delicious choices - Scarlet shrimps, barnacles, and edible crab, with a 1/2 bottle of local green wine. This was a memorable experience. read more

great food, great price. My parents came back saying the stars in this place are the crabs.

A classic with all the seafood you would want. Always super busy and has always been. Service is ignorant, and I never enjoy the wait here, but for those that don't mind the wait and crowded places, food is top! read more

At 75 years of age one would think that nothing would impress me at this point in my life. Well negative impressions are the ones that hurt the most and this restaurant happens to be at the top of my negative list. I knew I was in trouble when I saw all of the positive reviews. Nothing could be that good. Our particular waiter could not have been more rude. He threw the plates on the table and when I asked him several questions he very abruptly left the table and send somebody back who did speak English. I had my heart set on the razor clams which were "out" and yet I saw several other tables eating them. I guess one has to know somebody here. The garlic prawns were small and few and swimming in a bath of burnt Burnt garlic oil. They were also overcooked. The king prawns which were supposed to be the specialty of the house were dried out salty and basically tasteless. The best thing that I ordered was the crab out of the shell which I thought would be the same as what everybody else was ordering. Basically what it was was a crab shell filled with crab meat. I have no objection to that. It was cold and very good. But for €30 I felt quite overpriced. The pink shrimp were smothered with sea salt. The meat was sweet but you had to wipe off the salt first. I have eaten in some of the most famous seafood restaurants in the world And I wish I could give this place less than one star. Try one of the other restaurants in the area that offer the same product you won't have to wait an hour or two; the food will be much better and the entire experience will be more favorable. read more

A meal (or many meals) is Definitely a must if you are visiting or living in Lisbon. We went for a late breakfast/early lunch and the place was beginning to get crowded by the more financially fortunate locals. The price was relatively high, even though the city must have easy access to seafood. After some crazy looking shrimps and weird colored lobsters, which were finger-licking good, we were convinced that it would be a bargain in the US. Their menu can be a little confusing... As well as the waiters... But you will get through~ just point to any living seafood in their water tank and ask them to cook it however you want it... Grilled, fried, sautéed, broiled, butter poached... And dip their simple yet mind-blowing bread into the liquid that your seafood comes in. DONE! read more

If you're looking for amazing shellfish in Lisbon, this is the place to get it!! We arrived at 10:15pm and still had to wait a good 25 minutes to be seated! This place is worth the wait, it'll be the freshest seafood you've ever eaten. The prices are reasonable, the service is excellent, the beer is cheap and the place is spotless! read more

Pros: Fresh seafood Fast service Cons: Expensive read more

They don't accept reservations, so we waited about 40 minutes, which isn't bad as far as I can tell. Once we were seated, we got an iPad to see the menu in English. We ordered water, a prego sandwich, the garlic shrimp, iberico ham, and the grilled tiger prawns. The first thing that came out was a plate of toasted bread covered in butter, which was a great vehicle for consuming everything else. Stuff started coming out almost immediately, and it was all awesome. My favorite was the prego, which was cooked rare w about 100g of beef on the same great bread. It was packed with garlic too, and the sandwich was super juicy. The garlic shrimp were my wife's favorite. They came out on a sizzling metal plate awash in a garlic and chili butter mixture. It wasn't spicy, just flavorful. I ate all the iberico ham, and it was beautiful. We saw it being hand-sliced as we were waiting in line. We were disappointed with the tiger prawns because the waiter forgot about them, so they came way later. They were also a little tough, since I think we got the giant ones instead of the regular "tiger prawns." It was nice, but not worth price. I'd try something else next time. Service was very fast and generally good, with the exception of the tiger prawn situation. The food was 5 stars, and the service situation was atypical I think, so that's why I'm doing 5 instead of 4. read more

Amazing! Food is delicious. Best clams ive ever had in my life! Good garlic shrimp! You cam get an entire bottle of wine for so cheap! Definitely worth the wait! Best food hands dowm. Crab was so fresh and amazing! Would come backk read more

This is the best seafood I've ever had in my life. I came to Portugal on a holiday and I'd definitely come back just for this place. On my short stay I ate here twice, which wasn't enough. The seafood was meaty and had flavor I'll never forget. I still look at the pictures just to remember. read more

Brilliant experience. Simple but super well-made food. Attentive, fast and very nice service. And fantastic value for money.

we came here because of the reviews of course. we waited an hour and a half to get a table. from outside you would say it's a fancy place but inside it's very modest. the servers are almost running and it's so loud. we got the garlic shrimp, and the giant shrimps. it was good but not outstanding, not worth the money or the wait! we had garlic shrimps in lisbon in another family restaurant and it was even better for the same price! they just put on a show and you just feel almost under pressure to order fast eat fast and get the hell out. way too expensive, and i would not recommend supporting this place, and instead support little family restaurants that work hard and provide better prices, service and home made portuguese food read more

Love the edible crab the most. It tastes really fresh. Well worth the money. We waited for about 2hrs.

Great!! Both time we came the wait time was good! Didn't wait long at all to eat at the most I would say 10 min. The food is great! Customer service hit and miss. I will return! read more

My family and I were excited to come to Cervejaria Ramiro, as we had heard great things about the food. Our experience started off as being an enjoyable one; the food was decent (I would recommend the lobster and shrimp), and the restaurant itself was clean and put together well enough. Granted, it was nothing to write home about (if you want a truly spectacular gastronomic experience, you'd best catch an Uber to the Varanda Restaurant at the Four Seasons). Anyway, it soon became apparent that the monopoly Cervejaria Ramiro has on mediocrity also extends to its profound lack of both moral integrity and prioritization of customer safety. We ordered razor clams as a part of our meal but were informed that there were no such clams available for the day. Fine. That's all well and good. We ordered other dishes and went about our meal. Approximately ten minutes later, our server returned and informed us that there were in fact razor clams available and was insistent in his suggestion that we order some. We shrugged our shoulders and agreed to have some razor clams - after all, we're on vacation! Our server promptly brought some razor clams to our table. To our surprise, not one of the clams was still attached to the clam shell; all of them were sitting at the bottom of the pan. Perhaps we should have known that something was amiss at this point, but seeing as I was famished from having not eaten all day, I overpassed this detail. Only one of the members of our family ate the razor clams. This same individual swiftly recommended that no one else eat any clams, as they were not tasty enough to warrant the additional calories. Several hours later, we found that not only were the clams unsavory, they were also responsible for giving the aforementioned family member a devastating bout of food poisoning. Initially, we were dumbfounded as to what caused such violent vomiting and diarrhea. However, given that we had only eaten at Cervejaria Ramiro that day and our ill party member was the only one of us to eat the razor clams, it was easy to deduce what had happened. What makes this incident so disconcerting is that it was clearly a result of Cervejaria Ramiro compromising customer safety to satiate its own avarice, rather than being an honest mistake. Let's re-examine the facts: * Ten minutes after stating that there had been no clams available for the day, there were suddenly clams ready to be eaten (and paid for by yours truly). * The clams were at the bottom of the pan and not attached to the clam shells. These clams were likely old and haphazardly thrown into the bowl with empty shells in an attempt to masquerade the razor clams as victuals that were fresh and safe for human consumption. * It was clear to our server that we were not locals and were in fact foreign visitors, as none of the members of our party spoke or made any attempts to speak Portuguese. Our server likely thought that it would be easy to hoodwink us (further, given that we were clearly not locals, the likelihood of us returning to the restaurant to become frequent customers was slim). I do not write this review out of spite. Rather, I hope it serves as both a wake-up call to Cervejaria Ramiro and a warning to the restaurant's prospective patrons. Tl;dr: If you enjoy vomiting and defecating to the point that your throat and anus both feel like they are being assailed by fire ants, eat here! read more

The food looked good, but my wife and I weren't interested in waiting 40 minutes in a crowded holding area for the privilege of eating here. The inside space was also loud and crowded, not an ideal setting for a pleasant seafood dinner. There's so much good seafood in Lisbon, don't waste your time waiting at a place with all the atmosphere of a DMV just because it's the one in all the travel guides. read more

Delicious tiger prawns and garlic bread. This was supposedly Anthony Bourdain 's favorite restaurant in Lisbon. It usually has a long wait as they don't take reservations. A taxi driver suggested that we go in the mid afternoon to avoid the lines. We went at 2:30 on a Sunday and waited only 12 minutes. The servers were friendly and spoke English. read more

The one positive thing I will start off with is that the food tastes great. And that's about the last thing I have to say that's nice. Please don't read on if you don't want to hear the negatives. This is certainly NOT A SPOT FOR TOURISTS. Not because the staff is unaccommodating but because no one has the damn time for this stupidity. The wait is absurd. They have this deli style ticket system and getting called felt like Charlie in the Chocolate factory getting one of the last golden tickets. I was starving and no joke it was a 2 hour wait on the benches outside. NEVER AGAIN. It's just too damned stressful. The service once inside isn't that much better. You will have to work to be served and work to be fed. The food is very fresh - VERY; as in live - so if it's going to turn you off to see a lobster being taken out of the tank to be boiled, please don't go. The place isn't the cleanest but that doesn't seem to be a priority and nothing I witnessed should suggest that it was so dirty that you might get sick. The grilled prawns were ginormous and awesome. The edible crab had an oatmeal consistency which was a combo of crab guts and brain parts. It was ice cold and not very appetizing. The bread was great! We enjoyed three dishes for 120€. I don't mind the price but getting treated like a proletariat in a soviet bread queue for poor service and expensive food is not something i'm going to ever do again. read more

Overrated comes to mind. First, be prepared for a long wait. They have a clever on-site queue system, but waiting is waiting, and we stood for an hour, on a weeknight (they don't take bookings). Inside, it's nothing to write home about: bright lights, paper tablecloths, and crowded seating. Most odd is the ordering system: they bring an iPad, but it's not so much a menu as a list of crustaceans. A well-meaning but hyperactive waiter came within seconds, and we frantically ordered in a setting that bespoke hurry more than relaxation. The food came quickly and was fine, and within half an hour we were done. The wine was good. All in all, it's good food, but a disappointment after all the breathless adoration. read more

Pure theatre. Fine seafood. A Lisbon must do. To start... The longest G&T poured. With a herby batch of clams in garlic. Soaked up the juices with excellent bread. The spider crab was deviously tricky for my novices hands but was surpassed by the grilled rock lobster which was divine. Service was excellent. read more

By recommendations on Yelps review, we went here around 2pm late lunch on Tuesday and no waiting on line. We had snails, barnacles, "edible" crabs and scarlet shrimp. Also finished the meal with Prego, beef sandwich with espresso. Delicious seafood and great experience! read more

Crowded, loud, over priced and not our favorite. Well cooked seafood w garlic and butter...that's easy for me to do ...if it's not easy for you to do maybe this is your place read more

Food is quite good, not excellent. Prob 3 1/2 stars on the food ( garlic shrimp very well cooked, but way too much pepper, tiger shrimp was spot on, amazing olive oil, but flat spices). The service is unbelievably awful. Waited for 2 1/2 hours standing in a crowd, with heavy sidewalk traffic, beggers, drunks, crowd of angry people smoking and waiting for hours. Then we get rushed to a shared table in a loud crowded room with fluorescent lights and a gigantic TV playing soccer. Then the waiter yells pushing us to order within 25 seconds of sitting, while throwing napkins and utensils from the distance. Food, as said, was very good, nothing special. Dessert from a pre packaged chain. Just not worth all the fuss. Really, go somewhere else cozier, you're in Lisbon. read more

I wanted to love this place, but the service was subpar - rude, harried and not attentive. We ordered water, but they didn't bring water glasses. My aunt dropped her fork on the floor by accident, which our waiter saw, and never brought her a new one. We couldn't understand our waiter and very friendly locals tried to help us, and our waiter yelled at them. Save your money - all seafood is fresh in Lisbon if you are at a reputable restaurant. Probably one of the most overrated restaurant I have visited. read more

I'm not even sure what exactly I ate...but I did eat the famous goose barnacles (peseceres?), shrimps in garlic, some sort of large-ish langoustine and maybe clams. Also 2 bottles of Albarino at 13 euros each--um, can't beat that! We rolled up early afternoon so there was no wait! read more

WOW, is all I can say about this restaurant. The seafood selection and taste is mind-blowing. When you arrive get in line wait for seating (it's really weird that there is not a host). Would not recommend for toddler's (we got a toasted cheese sandwich from across the street) but if you love eating seafood this is a must stop in Lisbon. read more

This place was amazing. One of the best seafood experiences I have ever had. We came around 9 to get a ticket and the wait was about an hour, so we went across the street for a drink and made our way back before they called us. Luiz was one of best waiters of all time, he was very helpful in making our order. We ordered the scarlet shrimp (make sure you get this one), garlic shrimp, clams with garlic sauce, crab, and oysters. All were great. Waiters do a good job gauging how much yo order for your group. read more

Definitely and institution, and everyone I told I was going to Lisbon said this was a place to try. I'm not sure if its just gone down hill or what, but it really was not that great. Service was horrible, which honestly does not bother me that much, but the food was just ok as well. The temperatures on things seemed off, nothing was really hot or cold....lot's of room temperature seafood. I would not recommend; expensive for what it was. read more

Waited in line for 20 minutes at 3pm. The line moved swiftly and, once inside, you understand why. This is a "bread already at the table, order fast, eat and don't linger" type of place. Although it felt a little bit like a tourist trap, the seafood was superb. We had the garlic shrimp and the giant prawns. Both were delicious! read more
