The wait forms early at this pulse popular seafood restaurant. There's a random number generator that you access with an iPad lone interface and then you wait with the crowd not knowing where you stand in the wait que which I suspect may be to discourage people scaping tickets for an earlier entry. There's a coin op beer dispenser in the waiting area that you can use to pass the time. Once inside, it reminds me of an Asian seafood restaurant with tanks full of live crustaceans. We got the shrimp in garlic, clams on garlic and started with two edible crabs, that's what they're called, for a party of four. The crab is more like Florida rock crab than Dungeness with a hard shell and giant meaty claws with a similar taste. It was so good we ended up ordering another for a total of 3.5 kg worth at about 25 euros per kg. It is so cheap comforted to the US or other wealthier EU states. Don't wear your fancy clothes since if you don't get crab bits on you when you're working at it with the hammer on the mortar board, your neighbor will. read more

Delicous and would recommend! Went with a friend and we ordered the bread, cheese, ham, a couple orders of the garlic shrimp and many beers. Everything came out quickly and the waiters were great. It was a cheap trip for us as well. This was the first place we ate in Lisbon and it started the trip off nicely. We went in around 5:30 and stayed for an hour or so. We did not wait at all but when we left there was an enourmous line. Would recommend going early or getting a reservation if its possible. read more

Really fun experience overall. Waiting for your number to be called is fun in itself since they give out numbers at random. The service was good and quick, food was good. It was fun cracking our crab open! read more

I ate my way through Porto, the Douro Valley, the Algarve, and Lisbon. My meal here was the most disappointing of all the meals I had in Portugal. It wasn't disappointing in reference to the hype, but it was absolutely the most mediocre dining experience compared to all the other places I ate at, and that includes food halls and little mom and pop places off the beaten path. To me, the quality of the food is even suspect compared to other places. For example, the garlic shrimp were overcooked, the shrimp were not deveined, and generally poorly prepared. The giant tiger prawn was overcooked and dry. Oysters I ordered had a few foul smelling ones I wouldn't eat and I informed my waiter only to receive a shrug and assurance they were good. No attempt to replace them with fresh ones. I'm sure you can get much better food at the restaurant down the street serving the same things at better prices and no wait. read more

Ramiro is what it is: busy, loud, pricey, gruff. no booking, shared tables, always a queue but just suck it as this could be your best dinner in Lisbon yet. drink up on Sagres beer as you wait, then order grilled scarlet prawns, gamba à la aguilho, plump steamed goose barnacles and more prawns. beer and buttered toasts keep coming till you say pare! por favor. and for "dessert" do not pass on prego no pão, sensational garlic-pressed tenderloin on Portuguese buns. not cheap but you won't be grudging it. read more

After a 90-minute wait, the food appeared overrated! Everything was big but rather mediocre. I would call this an absolute tourist trap! Very pricy and not that tasty! read more

Family-owned seafood restaurant. Fresh seafood cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the edible crab dish - the sauce is so flavorful but not overpowering. Very homey atmosphere. Great for family. read more

Ok, but there are so many quality fish restaurants in Lisbon so in comparison it is alright but not outstanding.

Pros: -The food was very good, definitely some of the best seafood I've ever had -Great atmosphere Cons: -Service; our waiter randomly disappeared half way thru our dinner, never returned. Had to flag down another waiter only to have him ignore us several times before listening. Literally tried asking him where the restroom was (in Portuguese, by the way) and he ignored me. -Menu/Pricing; you get what you pay for but the menu is a bit difficult to understand and needed detailed explanation. read more

Went here twice. So good. Favorites were the scarlet shrimp, langoustine, and edible crab. Emphasis on the scarlet shrimp by far the best. We also tried the giant prawn and the rock lobster. Both were a bit over cooked for our tastes. Get the scarlet shrimp. read more

It's a pretty happening spot. The food is decent, a little expensive for what you get. The wait is long, but out front you'll find a token op Super Boch dispensing beer tap. read more

Very busy, crowded, and also very very tasty. Great service with super friendly servers. Got there just before the great dinner rush.

It is a pricey place that definitely requires prior reservation if you don't want to wait for over an hour. The machine at the front that tells you the proximate wait time is completely wrong. It just adds 20 or 30 minutes every time your supposed seating time arrives. This happened three or four times for me and can be pretty frustrating if you are trying to leave so you don't have to wait in that crowded area filled with cigarette smell. The food itself is good but a little on the oily and salty side. read more

I will return to Lisbon, and Cervejaria Ramiro will be one of my big reasons for my return. This place is amazing, and totally worthy of all the hype. I honestly can't remember better crab, and it was extremely reasonably priced. The oysters were quite good, and I had the largest and best prawn I've ever encountered. The barnicles were...weird. I lived in Seattle for 8 years and am pretty darn difficult to impress when it comes to seafood. I've never been so struck by such a clean presentation. It was just really, really good, fresh seafood prepared extremely simply letting you enjoy it for what it really is. The service was very quick, and for as hyped as this place is, it didn't feel anywhere nearly as touristy as many of the places in Lisbon are. The price was really good; I basically ordered everything and expected a bill of 150 euros, but was pleasantly surprised when my bill came in at 65. Go in the afternoon. At 2 - 3pm you'll sit right down. I'd imagine at 7pm the line might be hours, but still totally worth it. If you went to Lisbon and didn't try this place, you missed something amazing. read more

I heard about this restaurant from Anthony Bourdain show and had to try it when in Lisbon. My son and I went there for dinner after touring the city of Lisbon. We took a number and waited for about 20 mins to get our table. We were met by this waiter named Nuno and right away i knew Nuno was the MAN. He showed us the tablet which had their menu and gave us his recommendations. We ordered garlic shrimp, oysters, jumbo shrimp and some clams with a bottle of white wine. And for dessert, Nuno recommended steak sandwich and a white ice cream w/ a splash of Vodka on it. I was reluctant at first but when we tried it, OMG it was the best dessert i ever had. The amount of seafood we ate will probably cost more than $100 in the US, our bill was 53 euros. Highly recommend this place! read more

The seafood is fresh but I wouldn't say this place is any better than the other seafood places in the area. There are no frills - you order by the kilo or pound. It was nice to experience but I would not return as the wait (an hour at 6pm on a Sunday) was too long and the food just wasn't special. read more

You must listen to me: you need to come here. All food is fresh (the shrimp and crab were dancing and singing in the pool before they were served on your table), services is quick and bullshit free, crowd is rowdy, beer is non-stop. I absolutely love this place and wish I can move it to New York. Lesson learn: when your ingredient is this fresh, all you need is butter, salt, and lemon. read more

The best seafood that we've ever had. So glad we found this place while visiting Lisbon since we are seafood lovers. The wait was long, but it was worth it. We were a party of 4 and ordered jumbo tiger prawns, scarlet shrimps, crawfish, crab and clams. Everything was so delicious and the service was good. Before we left Lisbon, we came back for our last meal and ordered more seafood. Can't wait to go back to Lisbon and visit this restaurant again. read more

Cervejaria Ramiro - Delicious seafood - Seafood Near Me - Lisbon, 11

Ramiro. Who hasn't heard of this famous seafood restaurant in Lisbon? Ever since its being featured on the "No Reservations" Anthony Bourdain show it's already large crowds multiplied in such a way that there's always a significant queue outside, so reservations are a *must* for this place. Catering to such a large audience has had little effect so far on the quality of the seafood served there, the largest impact of mass frequentation has been mostly in the variety of dishes served which has been diminished in favor of quick, readily made dishes. Service can be slow at this venue so an extra reserve of patience is strongly recommended. read more

If you get there and see a long long line, and think, "is it worth waiting?" The answer is yes. It is totally worth the wait. Absolutely amazing sea food and great service. Don't miss out on this experience while in Lisbon. read more

Cervejaria Ramiro - Crab and oysters - Seafood Near Me - Lisbon, 11

Fresh seafood, lively atmosphere. We had the Edible crab, the crab was meaty and juicy. It was more than enough for two people to share a crab. We also ordered the dessert and the wait stuff brought out a steak sandwich, I was already stuffed from appetizers and the main entree, but he said trust me... the steak sandwich was to have to say gastronomical! read more

A mix between a tourist trap and a genuine joint. Fresh sea food. Not a lot of fish options though. Crabs, schrimps, lobster, oysters, clams and percebres!!! Prices are ok. Don't go there to have a romantic dinner. It's just seafood and bread (the charge for the bread even if you didn't ordered it). Great coffee. Good wine at fair prices. read more

Awesome experience tonight at Ramiro. Had read a lot about it and we are Anthony Bourdain fans, but many reviews bemoaned the cue, the prices or the tourists. Ignore them. We came on a Thursday evening at 730pm. Expected about a two hour wait. We were seated in about an hour. Waiting area was pleasant with a beer vending machine (2 euro coins only, so bring a couple). The place was very lively and so much fun. Many locals here, probably about a 60:40 mix of locals to tourists. Unpretentious place, service and food. Simple fresh excellent seafood. Prices are reasonable for the high quality you get. Not sure why people would expect to get this quality for less. Two of us split clams, edible crab and tiger shrimp. Wife had a half bottle of wine and I had a couple beers. We had the steak sandwich for dessert as is customary (so wrong..but so right). Everything was great and our server Luis was the best. Note that edible crab is served cold. Was expecting warm for some reason but it was still very good. Check was about 80 euro. Just go and enjoy the experience. read more

I'll start by saying that if you're a seafood lover, this place is for you. It's definitely on the pricey side but you get what you pay for...amazing seafood!!! We ordered tiger prawns, shrimp with garlic sauce and edible crab, all delicious! On the other hand, I won't give 5 stars because the waiters are very careless, they give you no attention and simply walk away when you ask questions (0 stars to them). In general, a great place to have dinner as long as you get there earlier (we were there around 5pm) because the line is huge outside. read more

Great service and some of the freshest seafood I've ever had! Down side is that the wait was around an hour despite the host telling us it would be 30-40 min. The lobster and tiger prawns were out of this world as was the "edible crab." Could have done without the oysters, we get better quality in Detroit (of all places). Definitely worth the wait for this experience. read more

This place is a mess. Making a reservation doesn't really mean much as they don't keep a list. You can easily tell them you have a reservation even when you dont, and they move you to the front of the line but you still have to wait until the next table is ready. I got clams in garlic sauce, barnacles and a crawfish. Clams were really mediocre and I am pretty sure there were a few uncooked clams thrown in. Barnacles were ok and crawfish was good. This place is in no way the best seafood in Lisbon. I also came alone but they gave me 2 units of couvert - bread with butter. Ok. Feed me all that carbs so I know it's real. read more

You gotta go. The wait for a table is inevitable but once you figure out how to get a beer (just go ask the bartender because it's served via tokens and a self serve kiosk on the patio) it's super. Pig out on the freshest seafood you can possibly imagine. And be sure to finish with the traditional Steak Sandwich. Thank you Anthony Bourdain. read more

We came here at 7:30pm on our first night in Lisbon and the staff must have wondered if we were there for lunch or dinner. Whichever it was, it was excellent: largely unadorned seafood plucked hours ago from the sea. Among our selections (I.e., the waiter's suggestions -- why pretend to know better?), most exotic award goes to barnacles and most delicious to the tiger prawns, which were halfway between the size of prawns and tigers. All of which came out of the kitchen in about 3 minutes flat. read more

The carabineros (red shrimp) were the best thing I have eaten this year - cooked with a delicious salt crust in butter omg. The other seafood was amazing as well, particularly the clams and small shrimp in garlic. The goose barnacles were fun to try and different - also tasty. Amazing bread. Wine was good and beer was ice cold. Fun, casual atmosphere, more than fair prices, and we easily reserved a table via email and didn't have to wait at all. They had a booster seat and a lot of patience for our toddler too. This is a can't miss experience in Lisboa!! read more

If I come back to Lisbon in the future, this will be the place I tell the taxi to drop me off at. There will be no stops before hand. It was one of the great experiences of my life to have the pleasure of eating at this establishment. Firstly, there are no reservations, so you just kinda have to show up and wait and hope the line isn't that bad. There were ~15 people in front of my wife and I and our wait was ~20 minutes. The tables turn pretty quickly. On the upside, there are little shops near where you can buy a beer or any other beverage to quench your thirst while you wait. Now onto the actual experience. Once inside we were sat at a table that had others around us. Think two tops placed together. The space is tight, but you won't mind once you've been seated. The waiter will hand you the menu, which is on an iPad and you decide what you want from there. We had a smattering of the seafood here and no matter how much you order they will bring it out staggered. We started with barnacles(OMG GET THESE IMMEDIATELY) which ended up tasting of lobster and clams(Or the exact flavor of a barnacle). They are easy to eat and were so good. Next we had prawns, shrimp, langostine and a few other dishes that I'll post pictures of. The food is so good, fresh and clean it doesn't matter what you order. If you are unsure about amounts etc, your waiter will help you and let you know recommended serving sizes. If you are in Lisbon, you should definitely eat at Cervejaria Ramiro AT LEAST once. read more

Fantastic seafood and what felt to my tourist eyes like an authentic Lisbon experience. My husband and I followed our waiter's advice in ordering (the menu is a bit overwhelming if you don't know a lot about seafood). You can keep ordering and eating as long as you want, and the food creeps up on you, so it's a good idea to start small and order more as you go. The crab with the shell opened up and mixed into some kind of spread is as good as everyone says. I don't usually want to do anything with my shellfish except squeeze a lemon over it and dip it in butter, so I didn't expect to love the crab spread, but I'd have licked the shell if I had been alone and not worried about cutting my tongue. The bread that goes with it is great. The beer on tap is perfect with it. They've been doing this a long time, and they have you covered. Just order what the waiter suggests and let him get a feel for what you like when you want more. We ended up getting some really good shrimp that he said were cooked Azores style, which meant cooked in some kind of baking dish with salt all over the shells; simple and delicious. Also had some goose barnacles because I wanted to try something weird. (They taste like saltwater and look like dinosaur feet.) I'm sure it would take weeks to try everything they have, so go with an open mind and follow your waiter's advice. Also, get there at a non-meal hour. We went at four o'clock and had to wait twenty minutes to be seated. I can't imagine how long the wait is anywhere near a meal time. This place is popular with locals and tourists. Our cab driver was very excited to drive us there! He kept talking about how we were going to eat good seafood and drink good beer-- he was right! read more

Even though we had reservation. Gestapo at the door, treated customers like chattel. So very sadly overrated. Food was okay verging on bad, but it was rather expensive with a terrible atmosphere and friends of the owner who constantly jump the line. Keep in mind though, I will put up with a lot of crap for great food, but none is to be found here. read more

I was in Lisbon for a week and had amazing seafood, but came back here twice. All the locals knew this place and were excited we found it. There is a wait at the door, but moves fast and is totally worth it. plus you can go inside and buy tokens for beer or get bread or ham to snack on while you wait. second time here met some new friends out front and decided to share a table together for dinner. great night. ask for lobster but was recommended the huge shrimp, great choice, no regrets. also finish with a steak sandwich and then lemon sorbet with a shot of vodka. can't wait to go back. read more

Exceptional 1st meal in Lisboa. A bit tucked away, we knew we were on to something with Ramiro when we saw the crowd that had begun to queue. Only when chatting with others did we learn the restaurant had received the recommendation of Anthony Bourdain. The line begins to move quickly when staff open additional dining rooms at 7 PM. Grab a drink while you wait. Once seated, service follows quickly. Everything is fresh; the server brought our wriggling lobster to our table for approval prior to ordering. Everything was phenomenal, and staff will offer guidance on selections and appropriate amounts to order. read more

This is an AWESOME place!!! DON'T LEAVE LISBON BEFORE YOU EAT HERE!! The food is out of this world - the customer service is great. take the Metro as they are near the entrance and it will be easier instead of parking. FRESH SEAFOOD!! After the long wait for a table and then the long wait for service, we had a passable meal. We had oysters that were ok. The garlic clams were also ok. But the place is an experience and would be good for large parties. read more

Such a fun place to end our trip to Portugal! This place is well-loved by foreigners and locals a-like. Expect to wait if you come during regular dining hours - we came around 9P on a Saturday night and had to WAIT IN LINE (literally) for one hour. By the time we were seated, we had a good idea of what we wanted to order. The crab dish appeared on almost every since party's table, so we ordered that, along with garlic prawns, bread/butter, and jumbo tiger prawns. We also asked for piri-piri sauce because we like things spicy. Everything was delicious and fresh. The jumbo prawn, probably the size of a mini lobster, was perfectly cooked and tasted great in their butter sauce. The crab is served two ways - you crack open the legs, and the body is filled with this magical crab dip. I wasn't sure what was mixed in, or maybe I'm too scared to know, but it was delicious! The garlic shrimp, of course, did not disappoint (I mean, it's garlic, butter, and shrimp....how bad can that be?!) We washed everything down with a few local beers! All in all, we had a great time! We were stuffed by the end of all of this though still ordered 2 desserts. Everything came out to less than 60 euros....a STEAL for fresh seafood if you ask me! read more

Skip it. We didn't even make it inside and I don't care. Here is why... it was around 5pm...after lunch crowd and way before dinner which supposedly starts in Lisbon after 8pm. We thought ok...no big deal...we are in the area so will try it. There were about 30 people waiting. No hostess and no instructions on how to sign in. Ok this is not the US...but a nice gentlemen told us how to do the kiosk check-in which stated there was a '0 wait time'. We waited 15 minutes and no movement. We went inside to ask how long the wait was and were told to go back out and evaluate the crowed ourselves! Wow. We left. They are so popular that there is ZERO customer service. Skip it as they don't care since they are so busy! We had a great experience with an Airbnb food and culture tour that brought us a few days of joy of great restaurants. SKip Ramiro! read more
