I called in the morning and asked for an appointment, because I was seeing a really big floater in…read moremy right eye and since I am very nearsighted, I wanted to make sure that it was just a floater and nothing serious. I was told that they don't have any availability and the next appointment would be in 4 months. All they could do was write down my number and call me in case of a cancellation (they never called). Luckily, I called another ophthalmologist practice and the receptionist there knew that a big floater combined with heavy nearsightedness could be something serious, so she gave me an appointment within an hour. It turned out it wasn't a floater, but a tear in my retina and I needed emergency laser surgery that same afternoon. I was told it that it was a good thing that I came in that same day, because had I waited any longer it could have turned into a detached retina. I cannot fathom how an ophthalmologist practice does not know that a big floater in very nearsighted people can mean a retinal tear or detachment and therefore is considered an emergency. I have never encountered a medical practice that did not make availability for emergencies or at least told the patient calling with such urgent symptoms to seek medical help elsewhere that same day. Maybe it was for the best that this office didn't have any availability for me, I have serious doubts now about their competency.

Dr. Fargnoli was very interested in what I had to say about my vertigo and the visual disturbances I've been having. He's incredibly easy to talk to about just about anything. His staff is also incredibly nice. I got stuck in traffic one day and ended up an hour late. They weren't annoyed or anything and squeezed me right in. The office is pretty much an all-in-one. Dr. Fargnoli is also a Lasik eye surgeon, so you have that, and they also have a pretty big glasses shop. I thought I'd be paying more for glasses because it was a private shop and not LensCrafters, but it turned out to be the same price I would have paid anywhere else (and with a much hipper selection). Dr. Fargnoli didn't push me into glasses, which was nice, he said my vision was pretty good, but if I wanted them for night driving, I could get them. Overall, I'd tell anyone who needs an eye doctor around Providence to go here.

So after listening to this phone call and being ignored another office personnel walked by and I asked her if he was behind she said yes 1.5 hrs behind!!! The exam is good and I love everything he did because he is quite thorough and he showed me what is what. After the test I was able to go check on glasses, what glasses to get etc and I got a few choices. I decided on one pair and they said to wait 7-10 days but it was about 3 weeks before they gave me my glasses. I have called once a week, and they said no, on the third week when I called they told me it came it earlier but we tried calling and no one answered.. what... anyway good place but not so sure about the glass shop..

It's also the same building where I see my dermatologist and rheumatologist, and about a 15-20 minute walk from where I am, so really a plus. The experience here was pleasant. There was one other person ahead of me so the wait time wasn't bad. Dr. Cesaro here is really awesome, you know he knows what he's doing. This was a nice change from the other place I was going to (I will probably write a review about that later. Long story short, avoid mall optical shops at all costs). The person who had helped me select styles was Mary Ann, who also knows exactly what she's doing and tells you honestly what she thinks works well with a person's face. A breathe of blatant fresh air when you compare that to the sales associate at Lenscrafters that tries to push you to buying something that looks nice without regard to accommodation. Obv, I don't speak for all Lenscrafters, just from the experience I've had. They were nice enough to take notes on the styles that I kept in mind for later visits. I did eventually come back recently to try them on again but decided not to make a purchase. (really the price for what I had choosen was out of my range... $200 for frames, $130 for regular lenses, or $180 for poly carbonate lens which are thinner and less heavier). These were brand name Coach eyeglasses, not a big shocker. As much as I loved them I had to depart from them and call around for better deals. So, all in all great staff here. It would be 4 stars had it not been for steeper price range. Nonetheless great styles if you're willing to pay for the price.

They gave me prescriptions for an eye condition that seriously needs to be treated or I would lose eye sight and yet they never bother to work with the insurance to obtain approval for that drug forcing me to see another doctor so I can get treated. Last time they gave me a new prescription (I have stigmatism) that I could not wear. When I look at a square object it becomes so distorted that it is almost a diamond. I brought the glasses back and talk to the manager and they could not do anything. The facility is nice and that's probably the only good thing about it

I came to TLC Providence to learn my options for vision corrective surgery. From the first call…read moreasking to setup the consultation appointment, to my final post-op visit, the experience was nothing short of amazing! The staff are all friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions and concerns throughout the entire process. I knew exactly what to expect going in and coming out of surgery thanks to them, and the surgery itself only took about 10 minutes. I've had fillings that were way worse! 0 pain or discomfort. I'd describe the surgery itself like a slightly more complex eye exam. I opted to go with lasik over PRK, after talking with Dr. Rose (who is absolutely outstanding) and I was seeing clearly just a few hours later! Never once did I feel pressured or under informed. I couldn't recommend these folks enough! I struggled with vision since the 5th grade, and for the first time in my life I can just wake up and see!!! Folks, do your research before going to this place. I wish I had. This business is not BBB…read moreaccredited and it's not surprising why after my experience with them and after reading the BBB complaints. I had a disappointing and truly weird experience with this LASIK provider. The staff used high-pressure sales tactics, pushed a credit card I wasn't comfortable with, were wildly disorganized, and were unclear about scheduling and payment plans. The day of my surgery, they claimed I needed another eye exam--despite already having one during my initial consultation. They got me confused with another patient and the woman who worked there seemed like she was confused about everything happening around her. Wasn't feeling super confident at this point but I was already there and prepped. A minute before my surgery they suddenly decided I was no longer a LASIK candidate because of some major issue with my eye they doesn't seem to exist according my actual eye doctor and they didn't appear to see during my eye exam during the consultation. Weird? They recommended a different more expensive procedure instead. That was the final straw. I walked out and requested a refund for the deposit I already provided them. The overall experience was disorganized and sales-driven rather than patient-focused. I'm glad all of that happened actually because I didn't bother to look them up on BBB until after all this happened. Had I seen the BBB complaints before hand I would never have proceeded on the first place.

2 months out and already have to go back to prescription glasses for reading and night driving. I got new glasses and had a really hard time wearing them. I had bad headaches and my eyes felt very strained wearing them. I stopped wearing them and went back to my old glasses. I went to a different place last week and learned that my eyes hadn't changed; the prescription from Providence Optical was completely wrong. I'll never be back.

And they seem to take lots of insurance and make it all very easy. I've seen two optometrists and they were both great. They really make sure you get the right contacts. I had to go back a bunch of times to find ones that worked for me. The selection of glasses are great. They have cheapo ones, pricey ones, and most importantly to me, lots of good ones in the middle.
