I would not hesitate in referring them to anyone looking for bath and tile work!! Preface: Let me start this tale with some background. This project was not an exciting "Lets update our 20 year old bathroom and make it stylish and pretty". Instead the project started due to an undetected leak, the stress that comes from random water leaking in random places, and was filled with questions and concerns. Countless others "assured" me that this was a plumbing issue or just due to some neglected maintenance on a 5 year old new-install shower - and then wanted to blast holes everywhere to "find" the leak. At the same time, I did not want to rip apart a shower to then find out it might be plumbing and now a full on repair. I felt overwhelmed in making the wrong choice and doing 2 projects chasing my tail. Lucas walked me through all the typical scenarios that he has seen, leaning on the most probably is a structural fail of the shower system and then did a methodical exploration. A couple hours later and a minimal demo, he confirmed that it was in fact not plumbing related and was def. a failure of the shower system -- and walked me through what it would take. Once his team was onsite, they were focused - creating a whole "clean room" at the entry to the bathroom. 1 day demo, 1 day water-proof, 2 days tile - all while providing the proper time for dry-out and leak testing between steps. Lucas is a perfectionist, being critical on the most minor details -- which to someone that also strives for this level, but has no idea what they are looking for, was very much appreciated. Additionally, he has instilled this value in his team - that are true craftsman with their skill. Each step of the process was walked through, discussed, and made sure we understood the task, goal, and expectations. This is why I say Lucas/Soma Tile was a true partner in this project, as it wasn't a fun project -- it was an overwhelming stressful start where Soma Tile helped take some of the burden and concerns off our shoulders and work it through with their own expertise, experience, and dedication - ensuring every step was executed with precision. This is my journey with Markus of Rudis Tile. I found this company when we were looking for…read moresomeone to do a kitchen remodel. Markus seemed knowledgeable, charming and competent. I liked his sassy responses to online critics. When we first met, I told Markus our budget. We went with him to pick out cabinets and granite and paid for everything. We had already purchased all new appliances and they were on hold at Abt. It was Covid and materials were very expensive, so Markus suggested we wait until prices came down. We agreed. Last February, we again told Markus our budget and he said he could start in 2 weeks. Due to Covid, no thrift store would pick up donations of a dining room table, buffet, hutch, six chairs and a huge glass china cabinet, so we paid $1K+ to have a junk company take our furniture. Next time Markus showed up, he said the project would cost even more than we had budgeted, and he earlier agreed upon/ Finally, the cabinet company needed to get our stored cabinets out of their warehouse last month. They deliver to the front of our condo building, so we hired a moving company to bring them up to the third floor. While talking with the driver from the cabinet company, he showed me the invoice. I was confused because we paid for the cabinets through Rudis Tile and the cost was $15, 126. The invoice the driver showed me was for $8, 526. How could that be? I asked Markus to stop by implying I had work for him, and I showed him the copy of the cancelled check and a copy of the invoice. His face went bright red, he said he "didn't know what that paper(invoice) was" and I was "never supposed to see that" and he fulfilled "the contract" because I "had my cabinets." Markus said he was going to talk to the manager of the cabinet company and find out what the invoice was and a lot of other nonsense. He left my home that day and I have not heard from him. I emailed him the other day and asked what happened with the manager of the cabinet company, but naturally, Markus did not respond. So, Markus overcharged us $6,600 for cabinets. I understand a contractor might markup materials, but 100%? Do not deal with Markus or Rudis Tile. He inherited this company from his father, and he has two other full-time jobs. Markus is, in my experience, a thief without a conscience. He knew my husband and I lived on disability and a pension, yet he chose to steal from us. I am sure Markus will have a sassy reply to this review, but just remember; he lies as easily as he breathes, and he is a thief. I know this because he robbed us of $6,600 and he lied about doing so. He jerked us around for 2 years, but we have finally found a great company to do our remodel. For a much lower price than Markus quoted. According to Markus, he "fulfilled his contract" because we have our cabinets. This person does not understand this is an ethical issue, not a contractual issue. Markus may stick to the contract, but he has no ethics as a business person. ******UPDATE ON THIS PROJECT***** I just found out that Markus did not order enough cabinets for the kitchen remodel! Now I have to wait to purchase the rest of the cabinets that Markus did not order! He claimed when I spoke to him that I "changed the design 3 times" which is not true. I changed it once due to financial reasons. Markus did not properly measure the space and did not update the design when I did the one change. Now I am short at least 4 base cabinets. Markus screwed us once again. DO NOT EVER DEAL WITH THIS DISGUSTING MAN.
