TJ and his team did a great job with a challenging project. The entire floor in our finished basement had to be removed due to water damage and replaced with luxury vinyl planking. The bigger furniture couldn't be moved to a different floor. In 2 1/2 days they took everything up by moving furniture back and forth and then replaced the old stuff with luxury vinyl planking. It looks great now and we appreciated Rhema's willingness to be flexible with our situation. TJ made sure we understood what they were able to do with a cement floor that was not ideal to work with and supplied workarounds that were fine. Everybody was professional and friendly and they did their best to keep the mess in check. Highly recommended. It was time for a change. The thick-pile nylon carpeting from the 90's had seen better days and the wobbly red oak staircase from the 70's did not create a good first impression when guests arrived. We wanted to replace the carpeting with hardwood floors and update that old staircase with a more contemporary look. However, the thought of dealing with unreliable workmen had us paralyzed, We did not want to have our house torn apart and deal with the workmen who made the occasional 2 hr. guest appearance, then leave, making what was promised to be a two week project an eight week nightmare. We did not want to chase down the workman who left us with inferior craftmanship and was unavailable to correct the left behind problems. When our kitchen hardwood floors were water damaged, we were forced to move forward. We contacted Rhema Construct and met with TJ. He was able to restore our water damaged floor, replace the nylon carpet with hardwood and put in a new staircase. He told us it would take two weeks. It did. He told us he would be there every day. He was. He said he would contact us if there were any schedule changes. He did. He said he would do a good job. He didn't. He did a phenomenal job! His woodworking skills, his attention to detail and finishing are truly an art form. As a result, we now have beautiful hardwood floors and an amazing staircase in our entry. TJ was great to work with. He was very diligent in responding and coming out to my condo in Chicago to give me a quote. One of the things I appreciated with TJ was that I asked him to connect with my property manager to see the unit for the quote and do the work once I hired him. I live on the west coast so I like the fact that he was able to work with my '3rd party'. I did my own research and selected a waterproof vinyl plank to install and TJ was kind enough to order it, pick it up and install it. I showed him my quote from the flooring store and he informed that the cost of the underlayment was a bit more than what he charged and so I opted for just the planks and he provided the underlayment saving me a few dollars. TJ and his team removed the old flooring, disposed of it, and installed the new floors. TJ also sent me a few pics of the work once it was completed and it looked great. While TJ and Rhema Construct did a very nice job, the only reason I didn't provide 5 stars was that some of the trim/baseboards were scratched when they were removed and reinstalled. TJ and his team don't do touch up paint so I will have to pay to paint the baseboards separately. But the floors look great and I would certainly recommend TJ for his work and professionalism. read more

After multiple bids and exhaustive researching, we hired Rhema. We decided to go open concept so TJ had to refinish our kitchen floors and put new wood floors in our dining room, living room and hall. We encountered several obstacles along the way. After taking down the wall, we encountered asbestos tiles so we had to postpone the installation. TJ was very accommodating. Also, our (fired) general contractor had purchased the wrong grade of wood which contained a lot of darker boards. TJ patiently tested the stains on both grades - some were dramatically different. Hi. I would highly recommend Rhema Construct for your next flooring project. TJ and his crew were simply and utterly amazing in every way. He showed up when he said he would for the initial estimate and give me a fair price to remove/install new flooring in my condo. He was able to fit me in before a holiday weekend as I live out of town and was only in Chicago for a week. TJ and his crew got to work to quickly removed the old carpet/ceramic tile and beautifully installed a new wood flooring, new wood baseboards and new wood stairs within a few days. The stairs were a particular problem as the original contractor made them very cheaply and left gaps between the stairs and the wall and had a few treads that were not level. TJ meticulously measured each stair to add the solid wood risers and laminate treads. On top of this, he went above and beyond in every way, providing recommendations for an A/C contractor, picking up a few extra items like underlayment when we ran out and even helping me install some wood trim around a counter that was not installed as accurately as I would have liked. I have worked in the commercial construction industry for 15+ years and have a very high bar for great work. TJ consistently met and exceeded my expectations. If I ever have more work in Chicago or friends as for a flooring installer, I will know who to recommend.
