Did an incredible on our shower. Lucas and his team were fast, the work is beautiful, AND they had the best price out of 4 contractors who gave estimates.

Lucas and his team renovated our primary bathroom. He did an excellent job and we are completely satisfied. Lucas was great to work with along the way. I appreciated how clean he kept the workspace and for keeping the health and safety of my family a top priority. I highly recommend you consider Soma Tile for your next project! Note: The paint and shower door were performed by others.

Lucas and his team are great.   The intention was to replace the kitchen floor, which ended up being more complicated than expected because of additional layers of subflooring that needed to be removed and the fact that everything in this 100+ year old building is slanted and crooked. But they spent the time to figure out how to address those issues, and you could never tell. We really needed new baseboards in the kitchen, so that got done too.   We had also been wanting to do the bathroom and, since they had availability, we jumped right in. They really went above and beyond with that project - while his focus is tile, Lucas has years of experience doing most things that a building might need. We replaced the tub with a walk-in shower and added some much needed storage, which obviously included tearing down and rebuilding a wall. We have had issues with moisture and mold, so we tiled much more of the bathroom than was tiled before, and he suggested putting in a stronger fan closer to the shower and being careful with my paint choices. He also suggested better lighting, and what a difference that made.   I'm alluding to what a lot of other people have mentioned in their comments - Lucas really takes the time to walk you through everything, give you the information that you need to make informed decisions, and make sure that you're anticipating issues and possibilities before it's too late. I learned a lot about tile (when your house is as crooked as mine, certain materials and sizes work better), about toilets (I have a 10 inch rough in...who knew?), and about shower doors (he connected us with someone who did a beautiful job). And he made sure that I considered how much room was needed to comfortably sit on a toilet, that I thought about building shelving into the shower, and that I replaced plumbing that needed to be replaced. Also, as almost everyone else has mentioned, the crew is clean. Like really, really, really clean. It wasn't just the fact that we did some major demo, and you couldn't tell once they were gone. Every single day they were here, they cleaned while they were working, and cleaned and organized everything before they headed out.   I also had a lot of fun with Lucas, Miguel, Jesus and Orlando. I work at home, so I was constantly sticking my nose in, asking questions, getting to know everyone, jumping into their lunch breaks and, let's be honest, probably slowing them down. And they were gracious enough to let me help with things that I thought I could handle (just some spackling, sanding and caulking, but I learned how to do all of that better too). All in all, it was a crazy, fun couple of weeks that left us with a couple of really gorgeous rooms in our house.

I had Lucas come out and do the tile for my kitchen and bar backsplash and working with him now to replace the tile around my fireplace. The work in my kitchen/bar is fantastic. Its been over a year and I have yet to find a flaw. He's very responsive and was able to schedule things fairly quickly, especially considering the smaller size of the jobs. Overall very fair price, especially considering the quality of his work. Highly recommend.

    Fireplace - before

Lucas and team did an AMAZING job upgrading our fireplace surround tile from a dark green tile to a modern marble tile look. He was very quick to respond, got the project scheduled right away, was on time, and finished the entire project in 1.5 days. He and crew were really nice and respectful of our home. We love the final result and will use Lucas for all of our tiling projects.

We were warned repeatedly: "A kitchen remodel will be a nightmare--don't live there while it's…read morehappening!" That, along with a few other cautions, set our expectations before starting our project with Kitchen & Baths Unlimited. For my wife and me, however, the experience turned out very differently. We cannot say enough great things about Nancy (design), Owen (project management) and the entire team that meticulously executed the remodel. While I work from home and my wife commutes downtown, we decided to move forward with gutting and remodeling the vintage kitchen in our 100-year-old farmhouse in Evanston--and we couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Yes, the demolition phase was a bit loud, as expected. But after that, the usual construction noise--hammering and drilling--was manageable. The team did an excellent job minimizing disruption: adjacent rooms were carefully sealed to contain dust, wood floors were protected with panels, and window treatments were wrapped in plastic. Design selections were also made easy thanks to Nancy, who guided us through choosing colors, cabinets, and countertops that matched our vision. The result is a beautiful transformation from a neglected, dingy farmhouse kitchen into a bright, modern farmhouse space. The Italian tile backsplash complements the quartz countertops with subtle veining. The lower cabinets are a soft gray, while the upper cabinets are white, creating a clean and balanced look. We also upgraded our appliances and fixtures, including LED ceiling lights, a Bosch microwave drawer, a professional KitchenAid range with a matching hood featuring an infrared sensor, and a modern stainless-steel farmhouse sink with a gentle bow. Despite an initial delay with the permit office due to a previously applied for permit that KBU helped us manage, the project stayed on schedule. We made a few minor upgrades along the way, but thanks to Owen and Nancy's guidance, we remained on time and within our overall budget. The KBU crew was professional, punctual, and highly skilled. Communication was seamless--especially since I was working from home--which helped address questions quickly and keep the project moving efficiently. In the end, we passed all inspections and received written approval from the village within a day. For us, this remodel was a great success. Thank you to Nancy, Owen, Patricia, Rade, and the entire team! You are the BEST!

We just finished a complete remodel with KBU--kitchen and three baths. We started with Kelly, and…read moreshe was outstanding. Ownership changed, and we were concerned that the new owners would not deliver the same kind of product as previous owners. Not a worry. The new owners have the same dedication to the client and are also a pleasure to work with. We love the finished product and we are very happy with owner, Owen and crew leader, Rade. We had a budget for this very large project, and they helped us stay within that amount. We never felt that we had to skimp on choices to stay in budget. One of the best things about Owen is he responds immediately. No matter what day or time we'd text, email or call, Owen responded within the hour and often faster. And his response was always positive and supportive. Any issues or problems? He took care of them without any hesitation. He wanted us to be satisfied and happy with the results. And we are. One of the other tradespeople broke an item and is replacing it, but it won't arrive for several months after our remodel is complete. No problem, Owen will have Rade install that item for us when it arrives. To us, that says a lot about Owen and his business philosophy. We consider ourselves so fortunate to have Rade and Jesus as our crew. Rade does things the right way. He never skimped or took shortcuts. Even if it was more difficult or took more time, Rade did it the right way. Rade also wanted us to be happy with the results. He is thorough, professional, skilled and experienced. Many times there were choices and decisions, and we were not sure which to do. We had so much confidence in Rade's experience and skill that we deferred to his suggestions. We were never disappointed. Remodeling can be a stressful mess, but the people at KBU make it as stress free as possible. They are a pleasure to work with and to know.
