    A Better Resume Service

When I hired Chris Sanford from the Oak Brook location he assured me that he was very experienced in writing resumes for other individuals with senior level consulting sales roles such as mine. I even provided him with some sample resumes where he responded that they were not necessary. So, I expected this man to have a understanding as to what's relevant eye catching information in my industry. I ONLY hired him due to being under a time crunch just before heading out on vacation while a very reputable company who approached me for a position asked me to quickly turn around a updated resume. I have 20 years experience with my resume needing the last 7 years updated. Upon my return from vacation and spending more time visiting Chris Sanford in person to review the first draft I was shocked at the poor quality and lack of understanding of my experience and industry. I would like to point out that he required me to do the draft review in person, not on the phone. TOTAL waste of my time. In the first bullet point of my resume Sanford described me as being able to build "strong relationships with sales managers". That's a joke, and shows his lack of knowledge and understanding of my role. I'm a sales person who doesn't need to develop relationships with other "sales managers". In another bullet point he described me as having "customer service" experience as if I was a sales associate at Target or Walmart ! I can give you many other examples that can show you how he did NOT have the qualifications to write my resume but that would take too long so here's one last one. Sanford drafted a cover letter where he spelled my name wrong! Keep in mind I paid him $350 to basically update a existing resume. You would think he would take the time to proof read my documents before I reviewed the first draft. The quality was so poor, and I was so angry I told Sanford that I will have to reword the entire document. I asked him to send me a Word version so I can make the changes. He told me that he can't send it in Word. But, if I have Adobe Professional I should be able to make changes. I just happened to have Adobe! Not sure what other customers do if they want to make modifications IF they don't have Adobe. So, in an attempt to get out of Sanfords office without making a scene and insuring that I receive my electronic draft version of my resume I signed his bogus release form knowing I was going to call his management to complain. I did speak to the owner who I believe is Dave. He had a snippy arrogant attitude, but I was able to get a refund of $100 off the $350. He also told me that I was lucky because I should have been charged $650!!! I said that's not what your employee told me, so you had better get your stories straight on your pricing strategy! Keep in my mind, this company sells themselves as creating professional resumes but they couldn't even spell my name correctly while working off a older version of my resume I find it very odd that for a company that's supposedly been in business for over 20 years they don't have a large number of positive statements on Yelp complementing their work. Additionally, knowing how important Social Media is, especially in business where LinkIn is a critical networking tool that after 6 years of creating resumes Sanford only has 80 business contacts. That's especially concerning when they market themselves as a company that creates LinkedIn profiles! Save yourself money and time. Go elsewhere!!! BTW- The Oak Brook office is VERY dumpy unprofessional looking. I should have gone with my gut, but I was in a hurry to get the resume completed. Bad mistake on my part.
