I saw a Facebook ad for boots and drove an hour to their store. I walked in and was greeted with a hello, walked to the back and was immediately helped. The salesman (young guy) showed me the boots I wanted and offered a few others based on my preference. The ones he showed me were much better and more comfortable than the ones I came in to see. The other salesman recommended orthotics, they made the boots feel amazing, tight and no heel slip...meaning no blisters!!! An amazing experience!!! I will be back soon! read more

If you are a woman looking to be treated like a paying customer this is not the place for you. I went in looking for work boots and was being helped by a young associate. They did not carry a wide variety for women and I was informed they did not carry smaller sizes in men's to accommodate me. Then an old guy came over and was very condescending towards me and what I was looking for telling me what was best for the job I do. I have done concrete for 5 years now and know what I need. Also the fact that he scoffed after I told him I was in the carpenters union and being concerned I didn't have a voucher from the company I work for. I currently make $3000 a week and didn't think either one of these points were relevant. It was absolutely disgusting honestly. Helping is one thing but to talk down to a potential customer is unexcusable. I left went to boot barn in Whitehall spent just under $300 and got myself a pair of thorogoods that were a men's size. read more

I've been here a few times in years past, I even bought an expensive pair of cowboy boots here without any issues but this time around, all eyes were on me and they wasn't even trying to be covert about it. When I arrived with my dog Sunday afternoon for grooming appt, we waited about 15 minutes for Kacie. When Kacie arrived she said whoever made our appt, made appt for dog bathing, not for dog grooming, which is what I made appt for. Kacie said she can come in Tues morning to groom my dog. I didn't have appt book with me or remember what I had planned for Tuesday. But I took Tues am appt with Kacie because otherwise I would have to wait another month for my dog to get groomed. I was too sick with pneumonia to bring dog back in to Chaar when Tues morning arrived. Even if I was not too sick to bring dog back in Tuesday morning, I already had plans for Tuesday that made it difficult for me to bring dog back in Tuesday morning. I see other reviews left by customers who have had appointments cancelled last minute at Chaar, so I understand Chaar employees have trouble keeping appointments. We made other arrangements to have dog groomed. This was first and last experience at Chaar for dog grooming. read more

The management is horrible, The groomer was horrible as well and did not properly groom my fur baby. I paid for everything but the bath and she did two things. She also made my dog bleed. My dog was back there for 4 minutes. That is not long enough to do anything. Her name is Cassidy and she never communicated with me what happened to my dog. I ask the OWNER, MANAGER, and no one could answer what happened to my dog. They are ignorant and HOT HEADS! The manager told me to "get the H*** out or he would have me arrested when all I wanted to do was calmly find out why my dog was bleeding. They offered me a refund and then said no. He was yelling at my daughter and I getting closer and closer to my face. At that point I called the police. I was told the police are there often for their grooming department and neglect for the animals. I had to bring my dog to the vet to find out the groomer cut her pad. So sad...Poor excuse of a business. Terrible service and disrespectful. They watched the cameras and found out the groomer lied then turned it all on me and started acting belligerent. This was such a pleasant experience buying a pair of cowboy boots until I had to return them. They will accept your cash for the purchase but when returning them they tell you they do not have enough cash to refund you for a single pair of boots. When I inquired about telling the customer before the purchase, they said it is on the bottom of my receipt in small print. This made no sense to know this after the purchase was completed. I was also referred to a placard at knee level below the register for policies. I try to shop local for anything I can to promote small businesses. With customer service like this, I will go the easier Internet route. read more

First time at this location. This may be the worst groom I've had in three years. They were double booked and explained that's normal and had no idea when my dogs would be done. They ignored my request not to cut the puppies hair as his coat was still coming in. Additionally the salon was so loud with dogs barking, vacuuming and hair driers I couldn't hear the woman when I went to pick up the dogs. Both dogs were scared and anxious when I picked them up. The noise alone was enough to put me on edge, I can't imagine how the dogs felt for four plus hours. Chaar does not value their customers! We have been bringing our dogs there to be groomed since Chaar opened their doors. Sadly, the level of service has declined precipitously over the last few months. The Dog Groomer who works on our dog, Kelli, has developed the habit of texting us right before our appointments and asking us to change the time or cancels them entirely. Once when a snow storm was pending, Kelli asked us to drop off our dog early and we obliged. We were rewarded for our kindness by having Kelli do a rush job on our dog that turned out horribly. The deshedding treatment was not done correctly; our dog still had huge clumps of hair in his coat. On June 2, 2021, we received a text from Kelli the morning of our appointment asking us to come in early yet again. She stated that she had been in a car accident the weekend prior, and she didn't think she would be able to finish out the day. When we called Chaar to see what was going, they informed us that Kelli was going home early and they were canceling our grooming appointment. Chaar canceled our appointment mere hours before we were supposed to have our dog groomed even though she had been there grooming dogs all day. This comes after Chaar had confirmed our appointment the day before. We were at a complete loss. We tried in vain to find a groomer for that day, but our efforts were futile. Rightfully upset by this turn of events, we contacted Chaar again and left a message for the owner, Tony. A while later, Tony's son, AJ, gave us a call. AJ couldn't have been less sympathetic or less helpful if he tried. Despite the fact that Chaar has multiple locations and another groomer at the location we normally go to, AJ did absolutely nothing to get us another appointment for that day nor did he offer to get us in as soon as possible with another groomer. Chaar is unprofessional and very disorganized. Kelli should not be texting customers without their consent and Chaar certainly should not have confirmed an appointment they were bound to cancel. Furthermore, Chaar should have made a contingency plan to ensure that all of the groomings scheduled for that day were covered knowing that their groomer had been in a supposed car accident several days earlier. Had this been a one-time occurrence we would have been more understanding but rescheduling our appointments has been a common practice. To make matters worse, Chaar did nothing to rectify the situation. It is a horrible way to treat longtime customers. Disturbed by Chaar's lack of response we contacted the Better Business Bureau. It took Chaar over two months to respond to our BBB complaint and even then, all they did was make excuses. read more

This is an update to my previous post. In addtion to my previous comments I wanted to let you know about the Training and their food. The training classes were very good and reasonable. The trainor was knowledgable and patient and willing to spend extra time to discuss individual issues. Definitely recommmend. Re: Dog food. They have an excellent selection. My perception was that they were going to be on the expensive side ( guess that came from them seeming like a higher end boutique type shop). I had been ordering my food through Chewy. Well I was wrong! When I actually took the time to compare, the food was actually a tad less expensive (I feed my dog Victor). I know chewy delivers, but I much rather support a local business and will be buying my food there from now on. Selection of toys is excellent and staff has been great. read more

Disappointed. Purchased $110 worth of merchandise my first time there and had an issue with 2 of the 4 "Heavenly Hounds" calming cakes I bought. These little gems are hard to find and very expensive. I don't use them often, but after trying them during fireworks season, I like to keep them on hand for those times when the dogs need help to relax. I opened one and it was fine, the second one I opened showed signs of mold. I called the store right away and dated my receipt accordingly ... also making note of the person with whom I spoke. Because of 2 snow storms and a issue with my car, I live quite a distance from the store and was unable to get there within a month of my purchase. As it turned out 2 days after my phone call to report the issue to the store, I opened another one and IT was moldy. I took both packages with me to the store, together with my receipt, and instead of just swapping them out, they gave me one and told me I was too late to make the return, citing the original receipt date. While standing at the register, they discovered that some of these Heavenly Hounds cakes on display there for purchase had passed their expiration dates and the manager told Susan to check them all. Funny ... it was only after I brought this to their attention that suddenly checking dates became important. They couldn't make good for both, since they found a problem on their end?? When you shop in this store, be sure to check expiration dates!! I was only there once and spent $110 my first time. I have multiple pets (4), so perhaps they need to consider the customer's experience. Having said that, I did buy 2 more cakes, that's how much I value the product. Hopefully, I won't have a problem with either of these ... or the last of the original 4 purchased. I will be contacting Heavenly Hounds, as well about this incident. They need to know. read more

We've been loyal customers ever since we adopted our pooch from the Lehigh County Humane Society. Arthur (said pooch) even attended puppy kindergarten here, which was informative and lots of fun for him and us. The staff is always ready to help and equipped with an abundance of information on many different products (at least for pups). We love their selection of healthy food (zero grain and straight up raw diet available) and treats. We don't go anywhere else for our dog's supplies (both the edible and squeaker-filled). Just hope this place is around as long as we are. read more

Great place for work boots. I bought a pair of Georgia boots here three months ago. A day or two ago one of the clasp's broke where you lace them up. I messaged them on Facebook to see if they were under warranty and got a response in less than an hour. I showed up with the boots and AJ was very helpful. He called Georgia boots as soon as I got there and replaced the boots as they had a 1 year warranty. Very easy process. I'll be buying my boots from Chaar from now on. read more

We took our dog Tootsie to get a bath and her nails done. Our dog is shy and gets scared when with strangers. Kellie made her feel so special and cared for her so well that she was not afraid. Kellie did a great job and Tootsie was so soft and clean and smelled fresh. Her nails were great and were done better then our previous groomer. We will use Chaar and Kellie as our doggie spa for our Tootsie forever. read more

This store has horrible customer service! I need to have a pair of $180 boots replaced by warranty 40 days after buying them and they are telling me it will be over a month and a half before I can get a replacement pair. They will not refund me for the boots so that I can buy them elsewhere even tho timberland has credited them for the damaged boots already and they can not order me a new pair. Thank twice before shopping here. It's been a major headache for me. Shame on Chaar and their lack of customer service. read more

These glowing reviews are obviously from people that Chaar upholds their appointment dates for... This applies to the Chaar in Saucon Valley too. Both locations have had the same story at some point and are in need of some better customer service. Maybe people who know how to say "sorry for my mistake" instead of shrugging it off and leaving their customers hanging. I will not be returning to either establishment. They really need to get their act together. I don't understand how you can make an appointment over a week in advance and be called the day before to hear that the cat groomer is "suddenly going out of town and won't be back for 'awhile' (whatever the heck that means)." What a poor excuse. And to use this excuse once is one thing but to use this line of bull on me more than once is unacceptable and a little sketchy. What kind of cat groomers do you have working there? The first time this happened in August they did not even call as they wrote down the wrong phone number. I know that was a mistake and I accepted it but we did not even receive an apology or a discount or anything. We were just told that the cat groomer was not there. So after taking off work and lugging my nauseous, traumatized cat around we had to come back a MONTH later - how nice of them to fit us in when it was their mistake! When we finally did receive service, the experience with the cat groomer was great. So this is nothing against the cat groomer but for management or whoever is scheduling appointments. This week the same thing happened and there was no apology. We were just told to call the other location. Which I explained that I had tried to get an appointment with last week and they were booked. They had nothing else to say. We called the other location anyway assuming they may take the chance to make the situation right but they did nothing. So just take their appointment times with a grain of salt. They apparently don't mean much to them and nether do their customers. read more

GROOMING SERVICE - We recently took our long haired CAT there for a bath. It is always stressful putting him in his carrier to go anywhere. He hates the car. I was very nervous driving there as he did not stop crying for one second - he kept crying when I dropped him off - and I even heard him over the music that was playing at the front of the store when I left him in the back grooming area. Ugh! Kelly the groomer made me feel very comfortable leaving him and by the time I returned 1-1/2 hours later, my cat was completely calm, happy, and very silky clean!! I recommend Kelly and her helper (forgive me I dont know her name) highly. They know what they are doing! Just to mention there was a huge Great Pyrenees who had just finished being groomed and 3 tiny Teacup Yorkies. Between my cat & the dogs there I felt this showed the range of Pets they groom with ease. read more

If I could have rated a zero, I would. I went today 12/29 for the first time for grooming and was dumbfounded that the Laday who helped me( with the grey hair) right away talked about her staff and the groomer. I was afraid to let my pet stay there from what she said. Then I only had a personal check to be told by her and the manager that no one uses personal checks anymore. I live over and hour away and they took my pet in the back behind bars and completely humiliated me in front of other customers. The manger was even rude and talked to me like I was a dumb child ( I'm 55) and told me I should get sum extra money in case I ran out of gas in my way home. This story is only an overview. I couldn't get in touch with anyone to help me for 4 hours and they locked him in the back behind bars because I only had a check. I was informed that people don't use personal checks anymore. I never posted a bad review. I'm a kind and honest person and the manager actually questioned me on this. For some reason I was a target and my pet takes meds and I have to give him injections and they didn't care. I am so sorry for this miserable text, but I haven't even fell asleep and it 5:44 in the morning. I have not stopped crying and now my baby is in the veterinary Hisoutal. I'm just so beside myself on how cruel people can be and team up to make me feel like a piece of Sh t. I will take this further. Please don't take your pet here. The groomer was very nice, but the moment I stepped in door, I was told about all her flaws. I hope this review hurts their store in someway, like I'm hurting now. I just can't get over how all of this went down and because of lack of sympathy my little guy is in the Vet hospital. He was there to get shaved to feel more comfortable. I stopped by Chaar the other week looking for a pair of low hiking shoes. I have a wide foot and finding hiking shoes (or boots) in a wide width is always a challenge because not every manufacturer offers wide sizes and when they do, it is usually not for their entire line. The young lady who waited on me was nice enough and helpful, as was a gentleman who measured my feet and offered some information on shoe sizing. That was all well and good but the store did not have a single pair of hiking shoes in a wide width. They offered some shoes that "run wide" but having worn wide shoes for a long time I know that "running wide" usually is not the same as an actual "wide" width. She offered, several times, to order shoes but I can order shoes from dozens of companies that offer free shipping both ways, in some cases at prices below retail. Why drive to a store when someone will bring them to my door? I was more than willing to pay FULL retail just for the convenience of being able to try on multiple shoes and support a local business so that I can have that convenience in the future as well. To make matters worse, when it became apparent I wasn't going to buy anything the staff pretty much lost all interest. read more

I will be writing two reviews - one for grooming and one for customer service. I went to pay for my grooming and very nicely I asked if they had change for $100 to pay my bill. Courtney, the employee at the register, was very rude and said no. She gave me attitude about the entire incident, I asked her to please not treat me this way. Susan, the Manager, at the register ignored everything that was being discussed until she was done ringing up my payment. I will say it was a small purchase and I excepted they couldn't take the $100. I have been a long term customer for years and I only ask to be treated with kindness and respectful. Courtney opened the register and there was a $50 bill - I said you could have given me change. Courtney said I could not - I have other customers that will need the change. I looked at Susan (her boss) and said I deserved to be treated better than this. As I was leaving, Susan apologized but did nothing about it - told me she will talk with Courney. I have never been talked to in that tone of voice by anyone at Chaar before - if it wasn't for Kelli's excellent grooming I would not be back.
