All orders are made to go, but if you have time, you can enjoy your meal at one of the small tables. I ordered a stuffed sopapilla which I've never had in Houston. Great choice especially for $10! We stopped here on our way home... after Mel's was sold out of everything. Starving we walked in it stunk sooooo bad like mildew/mold/something awful idk. My husband ordered food and I saw the cook answering the dirty phone multiple times, touching the register then touching the masa to make our sopapillas I kept watch and he never washed his hands. WOW!!! We were just driving though on a road trip and found this on Yelp. Thank God! What incredible food!! We got the stuffed sopapilla and green chile quesadilla. My husband and I live near and rely on Chaco Grill for its very tasty bean & chicharone and barbacoa burritos for lunch as a weekly treat. We also pick up breakfast burritos and rellenos often, and if we are very, very lucky the best tamales ever (not a regular menu feature.) We tend to order, go do our other errands in town and return in 15-20 minutes for pick-up, but calling ahead is a good idea. You can eat in, and they have had an outside area, but its really more of a pick-up and take-away situation - even if you just drive to a pull off with a pretty view and eat in the car, you'll never regret a burrito, or taco, or rellano from the Chaco Grill. read more

Just had to stop, even though I wasn't really hungry. Ordered plain fry bread. It was anything but plain. Light, flaky with just enough chew and came with salt and honey so you can enjoy it the way you prefer. Delicious! I will definitely stop at this gas station grill next time through Cuba. Nice little whole in the wall. A friend recommended this place on a trip to Albuquerque. Boy was I glad he did. The food is fantastic and full of flavor. I will definitely be making this place a for sure stop if I am ever in the area or traveling through. We stopped here for lunch on a drive from Durango to Santa Fe. Cuba is one of the few places with restaurants on this drive and this was one of the few places that isn't a sit down restaurant. We got a chicken burrito and a carne adovada and potato burrito to go. Both were ok and were ready fairly quickly. Guy who took the orders was nice. Bathroom was clean. Some reviews here have said that the wait time has been crazy long. I stopped here around noon on a weekend, and my burrito came out in about 5 minutes. This is a great stop on your way through Cuba if you're planning on grabbing a quick bite before hitting the road again. Nice alternative to fast food and cold sandwiches, on your drive through Cuba, NM. The restaurant is located in a small gas station, Phillips 66, and the building itself is small and not much to look at. The owners are friendly and quick with food prep. The menu is pretty diverse. The food was good, we tried two burritos one chicken one beef, and chicken quesadilla. They were all pretty good. They put chile in almost everything, but it wasn't terribly spicy. The burrito size was pretty small, but considering they only cost $3-4, I half expected that. Hence why we got extra. First time trying this, and if it's still around on our next road trip through Cuba, I'll probably stop by again. read more

We remember creating a really solid review at our first visit back in the summer. Unfortunately, it looks like we fell victim to the vagaries of cellular service in rural New Mexico and lost the review entirely during failure of the posting attempt. Regardless of why we are beginning a review from scratch at the second visit, we would have to alter opinions anyway. At our first visit we were absolutely astounded by the massive portions. My Green Chile Cheese Fries took 2 or 3 tries for the two of us to finish, and Raz's Carne Adovada Stuffed Sopapilla was nearly as giant. The quality of everything except the basic crinkle-cut fries was also definitely worth writing home about. However, we were far less impressed on the second go-round. Raz went for the Carne Adovada Breakfast Burrito on the second trip, which was quite tasty, but super small in comparison to even fast food burritos. Both trips we ordered the Frybread. While the fluffy, fried pastry that goes by that name at Chaco Grill is the reason for stopping, it's actually closer to a flat sopapilla than the rich, fluffy, crisp, savory staple of my childhood in northwestern New Mexico. I mean no disparagement to Chaco Grill in the least, because their Frybread is some of the closest to home-made I've had in a restaurant. The ambiance is divey, being in a petrol station after all, but that works in the place's favor. Long story short, we will probably stop again next time we find ourselves starving in Cuba, NM, but we're unlikely to make the trip for the sole purpose of eating at Chaco Grill. read more

I hate giving small businesses like this reviews that aren't glowing, but here we go. The food wasn't that great, and the wait was disproportional to the actual food. I waited about 40 minutes for food when there was only one party ahead of me. After 20 minutes, the cook tells me that the thing I had ordered (Navajo Taco) couldn't be made because the fryer didn't work. Why didn't he check this when I placed my order? I ended up waiting almost 20 more minutes for the green chile stew to come out. When it came, it was pretty good, but not phenomenal. I can see how one person working the cash register and the grill can be very hard, but maybe it's time to hire someone else, especially when that same person is the only attendant at the gas station that this restaurant is in. read more

New owners. Clearly they are working hard and businesses up. The service was fine. The menu is fine. But unfortunately the food was pretty terrible. The breakfast was generic, western family quality, and very poorly dished. Mexican food is also western family quality. Just ground beef limited seasoning, generic cheese. the honey syrup for the sofrito has tasted like it was watered down with brown sugar.this little restaurant will do fine over time once they hit their stride again. This place is not cheap for the amount of food you get compared to other joints like it. What they claim are burritos are the size of tacos. They charge you fifty cents for each tiny salsa container. Their service is a joke. I'll just go to McDonald's next time. read more
