I worked as a foreign car mechanic for 3 years at an MB-VW dealership, so I know quality work vs. ordinary quality. Been owning cars and/or motorcycles for a half century. And Chad is one of 3 mechanics I have had who are way beyond ordinary mechanics. One kept me rolling through college. He had owned his own business for 30 years. Had 10-12 mechanics all with him for 20+ years. Another was a retired Navy mechanic who could rebuild a V-8 from a box of parts from memory. Chad is as good as those other two. He is also very honest and he always gives you all your alternatives instead of just selling a bunch of work. On top of all that he and his other mechanics are nice guys and friendly. And while it is a classic old school garage but with all modern equipment and technology, it is also an atmosphere that is safe for women and children. Some good mechanics can be a bit rough around the edges but they are all gentlemen at Chad's, honest, easy to do business with, and have top notch ability. You will not be disappointed if you go there. In fact, you might be the next person to give them a rave review. I am not related to anyone who works there & I am not a part owner. Been here several times and can't say enough good things! Superb service, works fast, extremely reasonable pricing, pleasant attitude and is extremely knowledgeable! Every time I have called him with an issue, he tells me what the problems could possibly be and it never fails that its always at least one of the problems that he thinks it might be. I was driving from Long Island to Ocean City for the weekend. On my way down, the electric in my 1992 Volvo 240 started to go in Southern NJ. Panicked, I pulled over and found a Swedish car specialist not too far from my location. I made it there at 6:30 AM, but the shop didn't open until 8. After a quick nap, I walked over to the Swedish mechanic's front door to which there was a sign placed "ON VACATION". Not knowing what to do and famished, I walked over to a Dunkin Donuts when I discovered Chad's shop. He seemed really slammed with multiple customers, but he listened to my plight and agreed to try and see my car sometime that day. After a quick tow and just a few hours later, my car was good to go. He replaced my alternator (which is harder to come by for my particular car). As I initially suspected the alternator was the issue. I researched average costs for the part and he was right on the $. In my opinion, the best mechanic in all of Southern New Jersey. Had a timing belt issue and was broken down around the corner from his shop. Walked over to ask for help, and he towed me back to his place, gave me a very reasonable quote, did the work, and i was back on the road by the end of the day! So much better then going to one of the national chains where you are just a number. Chad, who is on site everyday of the week, knows who you are and takes the time to explain everything and make sure that you know what he and his guys are doing for you. A small operation with a great guy behind it! I would recommend Chad's for any type of automotive work that you need done. Avoid! Worst place ever to deal with. They gave me an estimate for 700. the dealership estimate was 850. So I gave Chad the job.Then he charges me 986! Low balled the estimate to get the job then screws me... They had the car for one week to replace the oil pan. ONE WEEK! The day after I get it home, the oil pan is leaking all over my driveway! and my car ran like crap. sputting down the road, tires felt unsafe and wobbly. issues I never even had when I took it there! it took them ANOTHER week to replace the "bad" oil pan they orginally installed. the whole ordeal was a complete nightmare. 2 weeks without a car... Plus Chad was totally rude to me. What a bad shop. Do Not Go There! read more

I went in here to get my car fixed or at least get a quote for whatever needed to be done. Chad scanned my car and gave me an idea of what the problem might be, but he wasn't 100% sure. He then told me he'd look up how much it'd cost to get the parts I needed and to get it fixed, even though that might not even be the right problem. He spent about an hour getting this information to me, because during that time, he chatted with his friend who stopped by, took personal phone calls, and tended to other matters. After I patiently waited in his office for an hour, he told me that it would cost almost $400-- $140 for parts and the rest was tax and labor. I knew for a fact that what needed to be fixed would take about 15 minutes, maybe 20 tops, and there was no way I'd pay $200 for 20 minutes of labor. I can't believe that he'd try to take advantage of me like that. I ended up going to another garage down the street, and they fixed my car very quickly and for $180, which was more reasonable. read more
