Java Works is a little more corporate and they do not sell beans in bulk. What happens here? Roasting, e-commerce, & there is an on-site retail store, but that is not heavily marketed, according to one of the owners, Frank. The bags of whole beans is less expensive than what's on their website. Frank was kind enough to make me a latté from their Bravado line of espresso beans. It was very good, smooth, and did not need sugar. I didn't feel as free to sample because they didn't have an automated machine like Muldoon's. The two friendly ladies who worked at the front were also behind desks, so they don't have a dedicated sales person who is catering to walk-in traffic. However, I don't think it would be an issue if you wanted to taste a coffee before you purchased it! Despite its corporate appearance, it still did have a family-run feel to it. Heck, the founder, Spiros (in his 70s/80s even) still works there to this day!!!

My server was very nice but wouldn't allow me to take advantage of the breakfast specials because I was there at 11:10 & the specials expired at 11:00, which I kinda understood. I found that to be a rather chinchy move in my opinion. Nothing to write home for food. It didn't really offer anything special but it was good. Peameal bacon was nicely done. I doubt I'd go again, there's not enough of a uniqueness to warrant another visit.

Although my main go-to is always their French Cappuccino instant mix, it's incredibly flavorful and sweet. The ground coffee is really good too but these days, I like to grind my own beans. I haven't seen their whole beans bags yet. There are Tim Horton's in MI, WA, Scotland, Philippines - but Chicago, not yet. Maybe one day we'll get to enjoy Tim's Bits (similar to Dunkin's donut holes), Donuts, and lattes, here, in Chicagoland. But for now, we typically enjoy Tim's in the GTA (that's Greater Toronto Area), with family and friends. This location was very popular at night, and we were a party of 12, so it was pretty full.
