But the family running it is super nice and will walk you through what they have and their recommendations. We got the chicken 65 noodles, idli, and a double egg dosa. We also got some of their chai and A+ to that as I'm pretty sure its sweetened with condensed milk so it spoke to my canto heart. The chicken 65 noodles were so flavorful and was packed in the box, so great deal for your money. It was well spiced but not spicy and the onions added a nice raw bite. I had their idli and found the texture really fun, though it didn't have much flavor on its own (think steamed sourdough..?) but they mix it with ghee and spices which made it a really nice snack. The dosa was very large and tasted really great with their hot chutney sauce and their sesame peanut sauce. I'm glad we found this super unassuming food truck and definitely lucked out that its essentially down the street. I can't wait to come back and try some more of their food!

The board outside said 'samosa chat' and we were sold. We got one of that and a mango lassi. The chat had raw mangi pieces in it. That is as authentic as it can get with Indian chats, raw mango ! Yummm. The chat was very tasty, perfectly spicy and it came with a little raitha, probably to help the stomach digest, not sure. The lassi was really good too. I believe in the mornings they have various South Indian breakfast items, now... thats rare. Since it the tunnels, the timings are like 7 am to 3 pm, and parking is a challenge in downtown as we all know. But still, would like to come back to treat ourselves with the breakfast . First of all, it's a beautiful space with soaring ceilings and modern, elegant, tasteful decor. The service was incredibly polished yet warm. We very much felt like invited guests in someone's home. The interiors had paintings that their family had painted and made. The mandala was beautiful. The entire thing was about 2 hours. In that the owners came and spoke to us and about our families. They took great interest in our likes and shared some of their experiences too. It was quite refreshing. Couple of things that we didn't know and think it's worth noting: 1. There is no free parking. However the restaurant validates 2 hours of parking. Wish we knew that. 2. The tab includes 20% gratuity. Our server didn't even talk to us 1 time it was the owners. So wish we had an option to choose how much we wanted to tip her, 3. You don't need anything with the lil gas. They are stuffed and a complete meal. 4. They were able to make smaller portions upon request. They gave us a smaller portion of butter chicken when asked.

My first few experiences at the Launchpad Food Truck Park was with Desi Babai. They were initially…read morethe only truck that was open, while operating out of a yellow truck with a handwritten menu of numerous south Indian items. Eventually they moved into a different truck, Desi Kitchen, where they continued to serve up until the end of last year. Now as the food park is gaining more traction as two other trucks have opened, Desi Babai hasn't been open for several weeks now. Newcomers to this park might find it intimidating, especially for non-desis who aren't familiar with South Indian fare and the fact the printed menu and dry erase board specials rarely aligned in price or availability. Thankfully, this is my idea of fun. Similarly to neighboring truck Palaarm Bandi (#2), they specialize in Indo-Chinese and a number of South Indian dishes. This includes dosas, idly, pulavs, and even chitti punugulu. I found their egg maggi bowl to be semi addicting and the paneer ghee and boneless pachimirchi chicken pulav was excellent and in a sizeable portion. The rice was fragrant, cashews were soft, and the spice was the hardest part to swallow (#3) but the kick was really nice. What I didn't love was the price haggling, which was different from the menu. The fact the business moved from one spot to another and is not always open makes me less likely to stop by, especially when disappointed to find an empty truck during the late nights. We tried chicken, vegetable and water buffalo momos, and our favorite is the buffalo momos. The portions are generous and fragrant. We also decided to have the goat thali dinner, and had no regrets. The goat is rich and tender, and accompanied by wonderful basmati rice, lentil soup that is reminiscent of French lentil soup, greens (Chinese mustard?), fresh and cooked vegetables, chutney and the most delectable yogurt. We had ample leftovers and were pleased to sample a cuisine that we had not tried before.
