I experienced a serious and unacceptable food safety incident with Chai Wok that cannot be overlooked. While eating an egg roll from my takeout order, I bit into something hard and immediately spit it out. What I found was a large faucet filter cap, with THREE pieces, inside the food. This is not a minor mistake. This is a dangerous foreign object that could have caused choking, internal injury, or worse if swallowed. I contacted the restaurant right away and requested a refund. The owner called the following day to apologize, but the response was completely inadequate. Saying "I don't know how this happened" is not acceptable in a situation like this. What should have been communicated is what specific steps are being taken to ensure this NEVER happens again. Instead, I was left feeling dismissed. There is simply no excuse for something like this making it into a customer's food. Whether this was due to negligence, lack of quality control, or careless preparation, it points to a serious breakdown in basic food safety standards. What is most concerning is not just that this happened, but also how it was handled. Incidents like this require immediate accountability, investigation, and corrective action. The lack of urgency and reassurance raises real concerns about overall safety practices. This is not about compensation, it is about consumer safety. We weren't on the lookout because it wasn't 6 pm yet. I called the restaurant - to explain to them they delivered to the wrong place at 4:30 pm - and now I have at 5:40 pm - $100.00 worth of cold food. The person at the restaurant HUNG UP ON ME. He said he is "too busy to deal with this right now." We typically order from Chai Wok at least twice a month. On December 24, 2020, I had issues with my order and the owner/manager hung up on me when I called in to try to get our order replaced. He said being December 24th they were too busy. I really didn't see this as my problem as it was there mistake. They didn't take ownership; however, they did refund us. But - we had people over for Chinese and movies - and we had no Chinese. Then, we didn't order for months - MONTHS - but they are the only kosher Chinese close to us so we decided to try again! We ordered over the summer and all was good. We ordered today, September 17, 2021, at 1 pm on Erev Shabbat, to get for dinner. The owner typed in the wrong address on the receipt so the driver didn't know where to go. I have a screenshot of the order placed online. It is clearly the owners fault. Accidents happen ...... but the driver didn't contact the restaurant. So - until I called back (an hour after the owner said our food was on the way) - his son picked up the phone, redirected the driver and got our food to us (over 1.5 hours late). BUT - when we got our order we were missing an entree. Yes, we were charged. When we called back, just about 10 minutes after we last spoke - no answer. We are now short for one entree and they are closed for Shabbat. I expect a lot more than a refund. This is strike #2. Do we even attempt again? This is very frustrating! read more

The service was good and quick. I ordered for take out. The food was really fresh and the portions are the same as any other place. You can taste a difference in it being kosher. The only issue I had was the price. Not sure I've ever had a more expensive Chinese take out. Even in New York it's not as expensive. I'm assuming the cost is due to it being kosher. I understand but The price vs the quantity or quality doesn't match up. A good friend of mine had terrible experience here as well as a large number of other people that I know that attempted to dine there. He walked inside this restaurant and before he can even order an employee yelled at him and and told him he can't come inside. My friend asked why and he said it was because he was holding a snickers bar. He continued to yell at my friend so he put the snickers bar on his pocket hoping that would calm the man down. But he continued to yell and then proceeded to kick him out. Another employee saw this and just approached him and said sorry you have to leave. I've spoken with surrounding businesses and they to have confirmed they the employees are prejudice and racist. Me or anyone in my family will not be eating here ever.
