    Kung Pao tofu (decent)

So this place was very interesting. From time we arrived it took a while be acknowledged. Then they almost seat a party that arrived after us before us (until we spoke up). There was one server for the whole restaurant. The party that almost got sat before us, was waited on before us. Regardless we ordered a bottle of water, vegetable egg rolls, vegetable dim sum and kung Pao tofu. It took about 15mins for the egg rolls to arrive. A sauce tray was brought out before anything arrived and you have to guess what each sauce is. The vegetable dim sum arrived 10mins later by itself. I ordered 2 orders because the menu states 3 pieces. It arrived with four ( normally that is a pleasant surprise) and another plate of unknown dim sum. The vegetable dim sum had a slimy texture. Usually happens when it's over steamed. 15 minutes later the Tofu arrived with a small portion of rice. While we were there the amount of musical tables being played was crazy. Every few minutes there was a table being shuffled around the room. Overall I would not recommend this place. The service was terribly slow. The food was subpar. There are many other great restaurants in the area

Try to avoid this place at all cost, unless you want to spend gold (3x more) for food that you could buy at Panda Express. We got a cup of soup that cost $7.95 and I usually get this for free at a Chinese restaurant. The noodles without meat was $27.95, we added meat +$5. So for a small plate of noodles it was almost $33. The waiter ask my Father In Law if the cup of soup hit the spot, I wanted to tell him the soup didn't even make it down his stomach for the price they charged. This place is Just a joke.

Unfortunately, the service this time was so rude and unprofessional that it ruined the entire experience. From the moment our waitress approached the table, she appeared irritated and impatient. When ordering drinks, my husband asked for an unsweet tea (the raspberry-style tea they serve). I asked for the same tea with sugar packets. She insisted it was "Thai tea," and I corrected her--multiple times--clearly stating that I did not want Thai tea, just unsweet tea with sugar. Despite this, she brought me a Thai tea, a $6 drink and with ice $7, which I did not order. Before I could correct it, she rushed away. The tea happened to be good, so I let it go rather than make a scene--something I now regret. When she delivered our appetizer, she dropped it on the table without a word. No explanation, no courtesy, no acknowledgment. The same thing happened when she brought our entrées--food was placed down silently and abruptly, as if we were an inconvenience rather than paying customers. When my husband ran out of tea, she finally returned and said, "Oh, would you like tea?" Then immediately asked if we wanted our food, clearly rushing us. Meanwhile, the cleanup crew repeatedly tried to take our plates while we were still eating, creating an uncomfortable and hurried atmosphere. The worst moment came at checkout. I handed her my debit card, completed the transaction, and still left a very good tip, even though the service was poor. She looked at the screen and said, "This is for the tip?" I confirmed it was. She then yanked the payment machine out of my hand, pulled the card out, and threw it on the table. That behavior is completely unacceptable under any circumstances. I stood up to address the situation, but my husband encouraged me to leave instead. I have never been treated with such open disrespect by a server. The food may be good, but no meal is worth being treated this way. Management seriously needs to address this level of hostility and lack of professionalism.

The girl at the bar was so rude it honestly felt like she didn't want to serve us -- or even have us there at all. We waited about an hour for a table, only to find out that the "welcoming" host somehow couldn't find my phone number... even though I literally saw it on her screen. Impressive. It seems our table was generously given to someone else instead of, you know, actually calling us. We arrived at 7:00 PM, got seated at 8:15, and our food showed up around 9:00 PM -- so if you enjoy long-term commitments, you'll love their service speed. Both the service and kitchen move at a very... relaxed pace. Pro tip: come here full, maybe have a drink, enjoy the scenery, and leave. That's about all this place can reliably deliver.

However, I am drawn to it by the design of the food truck, the simple lines depicting Hong Kong's skyline: the Bank of China, IFC, etc. Excitedly, I walk towards it, wondering what Hong Kong snacks it may offer. Not surprisingly, they carry the bubble waffle, reputed to be the #1 most popular HK street food and which has started to make inroads in North America, plain or served with ice cream. They also offer ramen noodles with HK meatballs and fishballs. And takoyaki, a Japanese snack. Afterall, they named themselves Asian Street Food, and I can see how some Hong Kong street food like stinky tofu, snake soup, and all that offals may be a hard sell here... Nonetheless a limited menu selection. I chat with Ernest as he makes my order, and he tells me that as Wynwood Yard doesn't want competition among vendors, so some of the menu items have to be scratched, and they are working on alternatives. The truck actually has been around for almost a year, popping up at various locations but finally settled in here. The takoyaki is steamy hot and flavorful, with big chunks of octopus. It's a little chewy, but better than some offered in restaurants around town. Really enjoyed the egg waffle too. Would love some oriental ice cream flavors but well, demand and supply. Overall, a little pricey, but it's a food truck, and it's Wynwood, so what do you expect.

Update: It looks like they have settled down permanently in Wynwood Yard! (Closed on Mondays)…read more 2 of my favorite things: food trucks and Asian food! Mr Q is a cute new Asian food truck around the Miami area. Some of the places they frequent include Wynwood, Design District, Haulover park, University of Miami campus in Coral Gables, and Dadeland. They usually post a weekly schedule on social media, so check them out on FB or Instagram. They started out serving Hong Kong style egg waffles with ice cream, and have since then expanded their menu to savory items too - including noodle bowls (ramen, udon) and takoyaki. I love egg waffles, and paired with icecream is even better. I'd say they do pretty well with the batter and crisp! The egg waffle bowl consists of 2 icecream scoops served with egg waffle pieces on the side, and the egg waffle combo is the egg waffle cone with 2 icecream scoops and a bunch of toppings. Their green tea icecream has much left to be desired - it tastes just like vanilla and artificial food coloring. But their other icecream flavors are pretty good, I recommend the cookies and cream. On the pricier side for a food truck, but worth a try at least once!
