We are camping right next door to this restaurant, saw it and then checked out the reviews on Yelp. So many good reviews we had to try it out. And it did not disappoint. The food was absolutely amazing. We started with the Cheese Dip which was huge and very tasty. I had the enchilada's with pork in green Chile sauce which again was amazing. So tasty. My wife had the Chile relleno which she said was really good. We finished with the flaun. Get one. So delicious, done just right. The restaurant is a small, simple, room with big windows in the back facing the mountains. The food was really good! My husband had the carne asada and I had shrimp fajitas. The shrimp was cooked to perfection and was way more than needed to fill the 3 tortillas that came with the meal. Service was prompt with staff working together. If you had texted me even remotely close to when I placed the order, fine. But 1+ hour later is ridiculous. I also, received another text from them that said "lobby... delivery" at 7:18pm. While staying in Torrey, Utah visiting the Capitol Reef National Park, a local recommended Chak Balam Mexican Restaurant. I'm rating this establishment a 4 because the food was really good and the customer service was impeccable! Our entrees were $15 each and sides are extra. The establishment is rather small and the set up is a bit unusual with seating at both ends of the building with two separate doors and the kitchen in the middle. But the food was great, the view was beautiful and the customer service was some of the best ever! read more

My partner and I were split on this place. She had the fish taco and the shrimp taco, and thought they were just ok. I had the enchilada plate, with the cheese, chorizo, and Barbacoa, and thought they were damned tasty and filling. This place looks sketchy from the outside. FYI there are two doors with different eating sections separated by the kitchen so when we walked in, it looked tiny but we realized the second section afterwards. The wait (on a holiday weekend) was about 40 min for the food which allowed us to enjoy some queso and drinks and have some good conversation. The staff was very friendly and apologetic for the wait. My husband and I ate here for a late lunch in June. The recommendations looked good! We had the special of the day, sopes. The sopes were prefab shells filled with chicken or pork. They were so tough that we couldn't cut them. We ended up scraping off the filling and eating it with chips. If you choose to eat here, do not get the sopes! read more

Just had one of the very best Mexican meals I have ever had at Chak Balam in Torrey!!! Don't be fooled by the exterior (looks like a dive). The food is OUTSTANDING and the service is EXCELLENT! Tried to eat at the local tex-mex restaurant, but the owner is rude beyond belief and we'd still be sitting out in the hallway were he told us to sit, but my wife found Chak Balam online while we were waiting (and waiting, and waiting) to place our order at the tex-mex place, so we left.
