We went on a 6 mile hike today and we were starving... we stopped at this to Lil grill on the road... and to our amazement , the food was EPIC! Great food, had take out back in our hotel room as they were closing at 6:00 pm. Not to speak ill of the nearby Hells Backbone kitchen, but Burr Grill was better, Certainly cost less. I am so glad I was out in the middle of a very scenic byway (State Highway 12) and happened upon this delightful oasis! I had no idea what to expect from the understated exterior. Once inside, orders are taken at the counter and food and beverages are brought to your table. The beet salad was exceptional, arugula,house pickled beets, pistachios, whipped honey goat cheese and honey vinaigrette. Oh I want one right now! The Lamb burger, made with local lamb, lemon mint sour cream, tomatoes, red onion, ribboned cucumber, feta cheese on a house baked brioche bun! Well, what does one do when you finish a great hike? Why grab a cheeseburger and chow down. My friend and I were on a road trip on the beautiful Highway 12 stopping at a few national parks in Utah. After an epic hike, we had to to have some food. This place appeared and just in time. I chowed on the most incredible cheeseburger. This burger was seasoned to perfection and everything about it was Delicious. Yes, that's what I said. You are probably thinking what's so big about a cheeseburger? I can't explain it all I can say is it was truly one of the best burgers I have ever ate. As I write my review, I am still dreaming of it. Service was great and friendly. You can either eat indoors or outside on the nice views patio. For a such a small and out of the way burger joint, this place rocks! It's been years since I've been here but I couldn't forget one of my favorite meals when I was road-tripping through the Utah national parks! Cell service was a bit spotty during our drive but somehow we happened upon this restaurant when we were starving. They had the best comfort food - I ordered the pastrami on rye with roasted potatoes and it was delicious. Super flavorful with a sauerkraut punch! Potatoes were cooked perfectly. Cute little spot to stop at in Boulder if you're 'looping the fold'. They had a few cans of craft beer to chose from, so I grabbed the Moab Pilsner. The tofu sandwich was really good and also really messy. Definitely not a first date food haha. Loved the slaw and the addition of cucumber slice. There were 5 from our family traveling from Bryce Canyon NP to Capital Reef NP and we stopped at the Burr Trail Grill in Boulder for lunch expecting the usual Burger joint. We were very pleasantly surprised to find much more than just a "Burger Joint". 3 of us did get hamburgers but they exceeded our expectations. One of my daughters ordered the Tofu sandwich and the other a Spice Chicken Sandwich. Both enjoyed their orders immensely. The service was friendly and quick. They kept us replenished with water several times and cleaned the table quickly when we were done. The outdoor atmosphere was perfect for the Southwest. The food was exquisite. There were tables inside the restaurant where it was cooler. She told us with a superior attitude that she will bring all the orders and we need to figure out among ourselves our order. She was flustered and I saw her giving "the look" to the other customers remarking on how busy they were. On top of that, we were charged 20% tip automatically. We were not even informed. After hiking a slot canyon near Boulder UT, we stopped into the Burr Trail Grill mainly for its appearance and location. It looks like a vintage trading post in the middle of a farm and advertises homemade pies. (The husband never passes up a homemade pie.) We ordered a Reuban and a Burger at the window and our food was brought to us. Both of our meals hit the spot as the sandwiches were huge and the included good size sides of hearty steak fries and coleslaw (our choice). What I liked most about the Burr Grill is that is woman owned and operated, the whole staff was fun and at the end of the meal as we were packing up leftovers, they knew to tell us the handheld pies were fresh and perfect for later. read more

I appreciate so much when a restaurant has an option for me.(usually the only vegan in the group) I ordered the tofu sandwich minus the aioli and it was perfect! It came with potato wedges that were delicious and the tofu was thin and crispy. My companion (who had been here before after a 2 week long survival course in the mountains of Boulder) loves the lamb burger but refused to stop unless there was an option for me. Honestly was not expecting this place to be so good. Was just with friends on a road trip casually driving through the area. This was the closest place to eat so we just "settled" forBurr Trail Grill. But my goodness were we blown away. I got the tofu sandwich with a side of coleslaw and was starstruck by how amazing it was. The tofu was beautifully fried and the vegetable slaw in the sandwich complemented it perfectly. It was a great combination of flavors and an absolute delight in my mouth. The slaw was nice and tangy, but not too sweet. Overall a hidden gem that more people need to know about. Stopped here for a late lunch yesterday after a long day of hiking and touring. Super friendly staff fast service and a great outdoor seating area with tremendous views. There were four of us and we all LOVED our lunches. My wife got the French dip as she often does and said it was the best she's ever had, I got the TBLT with lemon aioli it was amazing and maybe the best bacon I've ever had.
