The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Joe, is hot tempered with anger issues and quick to go off yelling at his customers when you try to ask why your order value of hundreds of dollars is over a month late. Stating "you don't know how long it takes to grow lilies!" And you were not supposed to call on Sunday! And, I will ban you! Well, Joe, that's ok because I will never shop here again. read more

I have had my lily since May, still has not bloomed. In fact even the leave growth seems stunted. I have had lilies in my pond for 15 yrs, so not new to this. They are in full sun appx 18" of water, no gravel on top to crowd rhizome, & regular fertilizing. My other two plants are growing & blooming wonderfully, not the one from Chalily. Driving down the main road, I see this place and quickly turn into the parking lot. They have a great selection of garden goods. I was shocked by the prices. Their priced the right price. I tend to do research before undertaking a project I am not familiar with. I wanted to have a custom water feature so I turned to Chalily. I have been there several times before and the owner Joe, is very product knowledgeable. On one of our prior trips, we spotted a orange ceramic Koi fish piece of statuary, we affectionately named "Harley". Joe said, "we could make that into a fountain". My wife had many on-going serious health conditions and it was rather pricey, so we just purchased the statuary and put him on the patio. Unfortunately, my wife's health continued to decline and she recently passed away. As a memorial honor of what was to be our 40th anniversary, I wanted to have Harley converted into a fountain. I called and spoke with Joe about it. I went to Chalily, twice in one day, to discuss, 45 miles, each way from my home. I left it there so they could figure out how to best install. I called the day before the fountain was to be installed, by them, and they said, "yeah, we aren't going to be able to do that tomorrow. We have been too busy getting ready for a sale to mess with that". We can work on that soon and reschedule for another day. Chalily is 100% of a luxury item store. It should be a joy to shop there. No one needs any thing they sell to get by. Customers purchase items they offer, simply to enjoy at their home. Chalily's customer service, care and compassion on this was a ZERO on the 10 point scale. They, (the entire staff) could care less if I purchased it or not. If you want product knowledge, they generally have it. If you want to pay high prices, they definitely have that. If you want excellent, prompt, customer service, with a sense of urgency, care and concern, you might want to look elsewhere. Just started a pond and I do not know a lot about them. So I turned to Chalily for help and advice on products I needed. The girl there seemed like I was bothering her, maybe I was asking stupid questions but to me I did not know. She was beyond rude and not helpful and acted like I was stupid and needless to say I left and didn't buy all the stuff I needed. Joe take note I was probably going to spend at least $300 today! After having a very negative experience at Aqua World I'm so glad I found Chalily. Everyone there was super helpful, friendly, and so accommodating. Don't judge the store from the front side facing Manchester either. They have so much more behind the building that I wasn't aware of until I parked. Only slightly negative thing was that I had to wait a while for someone to help me, but it was pretty busy on the day I was there. read more

Joe is very knowledgeable and has extensive experience since he used to work at MO botanical garden. This is a darling store, and while I loved shopping here and was helped when I asked for help, it's earned a black mark in my book. I have purchased three plants from here (a water lily and two colocasia). The water lily was INFESTED with all sorts of things. I found countless China Mark Moth larvae eating holes in the leaves of the plant and generally wrecking it. The day I brought it home, I spent about 2 hours cleaning and repotting it, and I'm glad I did, or I may never have noticed all the issues it had. On that same note, I'm grateful I wasn't putting it into a pond, or else I may have condemned my other plants to who-knows-what-else was hiding in the soil and leaves. I was willing to write off the lily as a one-time thing, until yesterday. One of my colocasia just wasted away over the course of the last week, and I finally decided to try and repot it yesterday as a last-ditch effort. I own two other potted colocasia that were not purchased from this store, and they are doing quite well. I thought it was my problem, but I don't understand how a potted plant that is given the same amount of sun and water it was given in the store can just waste away until it's dropped all its leaves. Another massive waste of my time and money. Everything told, I've wasted about $30 and a good 10 hours of my life trying to save these hopeless plants. Let's hope the second colocasia doesn't make it $40. Also, I'll note that the plants are cheap, but as a college student without a full-time job, every $10 counts for me, and I saw these plants as investments. I wish I could say I like Chalily, but what good is a plant store that sells dying plants? That said, the selection is awesome, so if you want to try your luck, be my guest. I won't be back. (Clarification: I see it says under my name that I am from the northwest part of Illinois. While that's true, I wanted to emphasize that I was living in the area at the time of this post, so I wasn't driving these plants 5 - 6 hours after purchasing them (some wilting would be, of course, quite understandable in that case).) read more
