My 2005 Volvo has been going through coolant faster than I go through wine and we had to decide where to take it to get looked at. Normally we go to a Volkswagen dealer since my brother-in-law works in the service department and he'd make sure that our bill doesn't end up getting inflated, but VW couldn't handle the repairs my Volvo needed since they don't really deal with anything but VWs and Audis. We knew if we took it to a Volvo dealer we'd get screwed in terms of the final cost, since they typically charge you like $200.00 just to look at the damn thing! Enter Champ Auto. Sean Quilley used to work at VW and after he left he opened this shop. He was really flexible with when we could drop the car off and pick it up. There is a drop box behind the fence that you can put your key in so you can leave your car there after hours on the night before it's scheduled to be looked at. He replaced the thermostat housing on my car and two hoses as well. The initial quote we had was for $580, but it ended up being $555 when all was said and done. The best part - the car was fixed in one day! Talk about speedy service. If either of our cars needs work again, I wouldn't hesitate to bring them back to Champ, if for no other reason than to see Sean's delicious chocolate lab puppy again and to support a small business. read more

Although I needed just routine maintenance, Shawn was very accommodating and extremely caring and fair. He gave me options on replacing my brakes now or later and his quote was extremely fair and much less than the VW dealers wanted. I will be back in several months when I need to replace them but in the meantime, he gained a new customer. I bought a used truck which turned out to have a bad motor, but it did come with an aftermarket/third party "warranty." Wound up bringing my truck to Champ after the warranty's "preferred" shop was unable to help. Sean worked with the warranty company and jumped through all of their hoops to diagnose cause of failure and get the claim paid. Once the claim was paid and I had my new motor delivered he had me back on the road in a week. I had additionally asked Sean to put in a new clutch since the engine was already dropped; he gave me a call to let me know the one that was in there looked nearly new and wasn't worth replacing... he could have easily just replaced it and made a few extra bucks and I'd have been none the wiser. I have an older Audi that burned oil for two years, and it constantly smelled in the cabin, around 400 miles per quart. i took it to two mechanics and they couldn't repair it , thinking it was either the Turbo or valve seals. Excellent service. Needed inspection and emissions, and there was a squirrely "Check Engine" warning that spat out a few different readings when it was first hooked up to the scanner. Sean did not do what the dealer and 90% of other mechanics would have done--do repairs based on every possible reading--but spent time explaining to me the various possibilities, and how one or two of the readings might not be accurate. In the end, he replaced what absolutely needed to be replaced (for a pretty reasonable price), and his wait & see approach saved me some expensive and totally unnecessary repairs. I needed a state inspection done so I called them up to make an appointment to bring my car in. I spoke to Shawn and he was able to schedule me an appointment for the next morning, which was very convenient. I was expecting to have to leave the car there for the day but he said he would try to get it done by lunch time, as long as it didn't need any repairs. He even arranged for someone to give me a ride home. Thankfully, the car didn't need anything to pass inspection, and it was ready for pickup in about 2 hours.
