I encourage anyone else affected to file as well. I was scammed using Zelle -- a growing issue across the country -- and even after providing solid documentation, Sun Community denied my claim without even trying to resolve it with Zelle. I was told that because I "authorized" the payment, it didn't qualify as fraud, despite the fact that I was tricked. They brushed off federal consumer protections (like Regulation E) and refused to take accountability. I've since filed a formal legal complaint and am taking the matter to Small Claims Court to fight for what I'm owed -- and to prevent this from happening to others. What hurts the most isn't the money -- it's the lack of care, responsibility, and basic customer support. I've closed my checking account and will be severing all ties once my balance transfer is complete. If you're looking for a credit union that protects and values its members, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere.
