Delicious food and nice atmosphere. Service usually good. Their kitchen stops serving at like 10 or 10:30pm when open until 11pm which is a drag. It is a little pricey in my opinion. Decided to drive down from Tennessee, just a 40-minute drive to try it out. Visited the establishment on Madison Blvd Huntsville Al. Brandie took real good care of me the entire time. She recommended the catfish platter first off. She must have read my mind because I was craving catfish. Food arrived 10-12 minutes after I was seated. The catfish was hot and crispy! I should have ordered extra hushpuppies as they were rather small but very good. I had slaw and fries with my order. Food was splendid! I will definitely have to try the chicken next time. I have always loved the Champy's in Muscle Shoals, though we haven't been in a couple of years. I was starving, we were in the area, so off to the Madison location we went. Honestly, I wish we'd just waited at one of the other restaurants in the area for a table. To start, when we walked in there was an overwhelming smell of "dirty bathroom." You know the smell. A quick trip to the bathroom later confirmed: nasty bathroom, horrible smell. They may have a sewage system issue. Regardless, we went to our table and ordered our drinks (note: they have the "good ice" like Sonic). Though our drinks were refilled promptly, the food took FOREVER. There were maybe 20 customers in the entire place, so this wasn't a good sign. Better half got chicken tenders and mashed potatoes. I got catfish, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Though the chicken and catfish were good, the sides have gone WAY downhill. What used to be homemade (like you would occasionally find a lump of actual potato) mashed potatoes tasted like instant KFC grub. The green beans were underseasoned (surprising since they contain ham) and just meh. Actual side portions were laughably small, as well. Though the catfish was fine, the tartar sauce tasted overwhelmingly like horseradish, not tartar sauce. Hush puppies were tiny and hard as rocks. Maybe it's just a "this location" problem, but I have a feeling the chain has gone the way of Big Bad Breakfast--gotten too large, food has suffered. Service was good, but the entire restaurant was dirty, the smell was foul, prices have risen while quality has suffered. I doubt we'll be back. read more

I've been to Champy's a few times and every time I went I've ordered bone-in chicken. The wait staff has always been nice. I even met a mother-daughter team. I found the restaurant to be very clean and one thing that I also like is that it has a big parking lot Very easily accessible for anyone that's in a wheelchair. read more

Stopped in for lunch. I hadn't eaten all day, and was looking forward to having lunch with my brother. I ate 4 out of the 8 buffalo wings and couldn't make it to the front door before throwing up in their bathroom. I was up ALL night feeling like someone hit me in the stomach with a sledgehammer. They have peppercini peppers in it with pepper jack cheese, a winning combo. The tómales people rave about did not do it for me. I'm starting to think these folks never had real tómales. The gizzards plate includes 2 sides. Gizzards Great. However, the sides are dumped into the bottom compartments of the Togo box. Git messy and mixed in with the food. Talked to Mgr. Her response it's to expensive to put into containers. But, if you look on the menu and order sides separately they put them in those containers. Mgr said if you want side in containers with your plate you must provide special instructions on your Togo. DOUBLE STANDARDS. CAREFUL ON TOGO ORDER. No word from corporate. read more
