Definitely recommend Champy's for some good southern food! Most things are not on the healthy side but they do have grilled tenders that one of our group had and they were very good! I enjoy Chanpy's! Have been to two before this one. Always good. We got fried green tomatoes for an app! It was about 10 of them. They were delicious. Wife got the chicken and I got the fish. Fish was good not great. Hush puppies are huge. Mac and cheese was great and mashed potatoes were great as well. Wife had fries and they were excellent, chicken is wonderful and the honey mustard has a kick. Over all good was a really enjoyable experience. The decor in the restaurant is neat. Found myself looking at all the different things. Old cigarette machine is a cool thing to have. Elvis posters, Virginia slim sign, BB King memorabilia, this place makes a great game of find the _____ game. Parking seems more then enough. Ok, so before I moved to the south I had some preconceived notions on what the cool parts of living in south would be, and one of those things was just a cool southern fried chicken place that tasted awesome, had friendly staff, great swamper kinda music from musicians that loved music. Then I moved to Huntsville and that didn't exist. So, for years slightly bummed. Well, Champys IS that place. I love actually met people in the Shoals that don't like it here but I think those people are alittle off plumb. It's fantastic. I've been here about 8 or 9 times traveling back and fro to Memphis now and I've always enjoyed the heck out of it. Roomy, super friendly, and the chicken is amazing. We had a few people bring the plate back and fourth asking us to show them the worm after they had already dug through it. I showed the first waitress. Champys has a laid back casual kind of atmosphere with really good fried chicken. If you like it spicy get the buffalo chicken tenders, and if you don't like chicken, the catfish and the sausage and cheese appetizer are both really good. I do not understand how this restaurant has such good ratings. The food is average at best. The prices are ridiculous for what you get. The chicken fingers aren't special at all, and again the price is so high, you expect to have great food. Dessert options leave something to be desired. This place could do so much better. This place is pathetic! Came in from out of town with my Wife for the Sheffield High School Alumni annual get together Dec 26th 2015. Had to go to the bar to get a drink. No waitress even approached our table of 4. I was there an hour and a half and there is no doubt, worst choice for a get together. I will not grace the doors of the place again. OMG! What a very pleasant surprise. My side salad was large, both it & the bowl in which it was served wete cold & the salad actually contained the ingredients necessary to call it a salad! The wings were average size but the sweet homemade sauce was the BOMB! My waitress (Carissa) was helpful energetic & very accommodating.
