There's a 4-piece option but 3 was more than enough, especially with the mac and cheese and onion rings I had as sides. My server accidentally added on fries as well, and I had no complaints. There are many who dislike tenders they deem "unseasoned" and I'm pretty sure most of them just mean salt. As such, they may not like these as they are not salty--but they're tender and tasty and dip them in the Champy's sauce, you're good to go. I went to the Champy's in Nashville last week and absolutely loved it. I decided to try the Muscle Shoals location while visiting family nearby. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They happened to have live music which was pretty good.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After being seated, I ordered buffalo wings. I received a basket of dark brown dry wings. As soon as I took a bite, I could tell they were not buffalo (and they were nasty tasting). I flagged the waitress and pointed out that they were not buffalo, she replied, "no, you ordered slow burn." I told her I ordered buffalo. Obviously irritated, she walked away. A few minutes later, she came back and said they were making me buffalo wings then took the basket. A few minutes later she came back, set the same basket down in front of me and said that she had spoken to her manager and the manager told her they were buffalo. Before I could respond, she asked if I wanted more buffalo sauce. I shook my head yes so as not to be confrontational and to compare it to the wings. She brought back buffalo sauce with the slow heat dry rub dumped on top. I ate a few of them drenched in ranch because I was hungry. But, I have never experienced that low level of service and deception at a restaurant. First, the lie about what I actually ordered. Second, the lie about them making me the correct order as a replacement. Third, them taking my food away and then serving it back to me after it was investigated. Fourth, them doctoring the side of buffalo sauce to cover their lies. read more

I really enjoyed the experience at Champys Chicken. We went on a busy Friday night and our service was quick and there were many options for our dining experience. Maybe it's just a personal preference but it lacked flavor and was a little to tangy for my liking. They do offer ranch, BBQ, ketchup, and more though, so there are plenty of options. I ate here last week with my mother for lunch and was not disappointed. I ordered a spicy half chicken fried with a side of mashed potatoes. My mother ordered the chicken livers. I'm not a huge fan of the livers but I could tell they were good quality. The mashed potatoes were definitely good and homemade, you can't fake that. The fried chicken was also delightful. It has a thicker crust but does have enough flavor to shine. The meat didn't taste marinated but the crust had enough flavor for it to still stand out. I would definitely eat this again. Champy's comes through as usual. We have dined at four of the many Champy's locations and it's always outstanding. Our son plays baseball at UNA so this led us the the Muscke Shoals for the first time. We found there are a few subtle differences between this location and the one near Birmingham in Alabaster close to our home. The chili gravy that coats the tamales was a touch different but not objectionable at all; just a little different. The tamales were great. The slaw served with the tamales was different too but we loved it and thought it was better than we are used to. Also the sausage, cheese and fruit appetizer was a bit different but again a winner. The other notable difference was the batter used on the chicken was definitely more spicy than in Alabaster but we LOVED IT! One constant is that the beer was very cold, a must! Our server Mary did a great job with our table of six. If you love fried chicken and appreciate the fact that it is cooked fresh from time of order you will love Champy's! Plenty of beer and wine to pick from. The specialty is fried chicken. They also have excellent fried catfish. We started with Fried Green Tomatoes. A basket of total deliciousness. Ranch Dressing was served with the Fried Green Tomatoes. It was so good that I think it may be made there. The ice tea is fresh brewed and southern sweet. I had the fried chicken liver plate. My two sides were potato salad and baked beans. The potato salad was some of the best I have ever tasted. I loved the Cajun seasoning sprinkled on top. The baked beans are delicious. My Granddaughter had the fried catfish....not sure I have ever had better. I also tasted the fried chicken and it was so good. They make a special sauce called CHAMY. It is perfect to dip the wings and chicken in. They offer chicken with regular or a spicy batter. Everything is battered to order. I must say the prices are reasonable. Entrees start at about $10. You get plenty of food. Nobody will say they did not get enough and leave hungry. Restrooms are clean. They have their own private parking lot. There are also tables with umbrellas outside if you want to dine outside. It was 94° so we ate inside with air conditioning. Our server was friendly and efficient. I am sad I can only give 5 Stars because this gem deserves much more. When I come back to Alabama this restaurant will be my place to go eat. read more
