I was hit by an Uninsured, Unlicensed Motorist with fictitious tags, and several pending and outstanding warrants and charges (traffic violations) against him. He hit my small car with a jeep and smashed it up; I spanned around 360. It's undrivable and currently in storage collecting fees. I'm doing this review because I have been paying for Uninsured Motorist Coverage for such a time as this. Direct Auto (Integon Insurance) is delaying in paying for my car to be repaired or replaced. The officer said the other driver should not have even been driving. I am really hurt and disappointed that my insurance company that is supposed to have me covered, does not. I thought I was going to die in that crash. That's how bad it was. My car was just paid off, now it's sitting in a junk yard, smashed up and undrivable. I don't know what else to do. I have contacted the General Insurance Co. I have an attorney working with me, but they say the insurance workers are rude and unprofessional. I don't know what else to say about Direct Auto Insurance or whatever name they are going by now, except BEWARE. We pay so much for insurance to have peace of mind, for if something like this happens, we are covered and protected. But instead, we are left alone, almost in tears, trying to figure things out for ourselves. No one ask to be in this situation, but here we are. Hopefully, Direct Auto (Integon) will reconsider and review the information sent to them; and take care of their own. In my case, they tried to claim that I was ineligible for a Diminished Value claim because my car was in another accident (also not at fault for it) two months later and they hadn't had a chance to review the repairs to ensure they were done properly. This is inconsistent with NC law. I filed a Department of Insurance complaint on them, which is what I recommend everyone who has an issue with this agency does, and they replied by dodging the issue, and never once admitting negligence, fault, or apologizing in any way. They are a sneaky, deceptive company, and if you have the misfortune of being hit by one of their insured drivers, you will spend a ridiculous amount of time, energy, and money battling with them. If you have issues with them, file a Department of Insurance claim online and a complaint with the consumer division of the NCDOJ. Companies like Farm Bureau get away with misleading consumers and denying their right to claims and reviews. It's time for that to stop. Also, don't have any conversations with them by phone. Do it all in writing or email so you have the paper trail. They are sneaky.
