Chances is a strip mall bar super close to home. I've never seen a crowd there. It's kind of a boring place but good enough to tie on a drink right near home or if you just need to unwind without a lot of action. It's got kind of a weird 1980s vibe but Chances is clean. The gentleman behind the bar was an absolute gentleman, friendly, professional. The food menu is actually from Rosati's Pizza at the end of the same strip mall, so it's convenient and decent food and open late. They have live music there. Periodically and I think I'll stop by to check it out one night. read more

So, we usually head here after playing volleyball. It has really become a place where most of the locals go. It is a very interesting atmosphere cause most visitors know each other and bartenders know customers by name. You get a homely vibe when you enter. Great beer selection. The owner goes out of his way to introduce new beers from local or distant breweries. This place is one of the few which carries Zombie Dust from Three Floyds. Again, they have a great selection of beers. There is also gaming there. The food comes from Rosati's which is next door. Can't go wrong with having some wings, fries and pizza while enjoying drinks with friends. The bartenders make you feel welcomed which is a good reason to return often. Chances have changed ownership in the last couple months and it shows. Jay the new owner decided to add a pool table, dart board, and a jukebox to the party room. Sounds great right? Well my mom had the party room booked for months in advance and the owner decided to have all those fun party things installed the day on my mom's wedding reception. "No exceptions had to be done that day," according to the owner and his manager. The party room at max was able to hold 44 people, my mom invited 40. But sure let's put a 6x12 foot pool table in a small party room that is already booked for the event. There was three different times that a manager had to make sure the room was booked for that day. Really sad that this is how the new owner decided to do business. We catered through them (which is really rosati's pizza or eggpress cafe) and Chances didn't have plates, serving ware, or utensils. We had to send people to Walgreens to get all the things we needed. We ended up making the night special for my mom and stepdad, no thanks to Chances. I do want to give a shoutout to a female bartender who I wish I got her name, made sure we were taken care of at the bar when we were partly ignored by others. And shoutout to Scott who did all the installations of the pool table, jukebox, and dartboard, who understood our frustration and worked fast to have it done before we arrived and made sure we had music for free. I strongly do not recommend this place what so ever. And more and more people will realize this change in ownership is not for the better read more

Surprised this place wasn't already on yelp. Nice bar and restaurant in Lindenhurst area with 5 slot machines. Had a party room near the back and what looked like some outdoor seating in the back for a hand few of warm months that we get here. Stopped by on a Saturday night after attending a show at Lakes Community high school. First impression was that the place is big which you won't notice from the outside driving down route 45. Driven past this place so many times wasn't sure how it would be. Was pleasantly surprised. Nice spacious bar and restaurant which happened to have live music on Saturday night when we arrived. Good selection of beers both craft and regular, cocktail selections and same with liquors and wine. Since I had to drive tonight stuck to having a cocktail the Al Capone but did notice a bottle of Macallan 12 and 15 next to a Lagavulin 16 I think on the bar for a night when I don't have to drive myself. As far as food is concerned we ordered the wings, jalapeño poppers, Caesar salad and tiramisu. The buffalo chicken wings were tasty and so were the jalapeño poppers. The tiramisu was surprisingly good but I could tell it was taken out of the freezer. Can't comment on the salad that my wife had but she had no complains. The live music was a plus. Some of the items on the menu looked like they were from Rosati's pizza next door which we love ordering from frequently. Kyle was both our server and bartender. Nice and pleasant guy. Overall good experience with food, drinks, service and interior. Definitely recommend. Don't live in Lindenhurst to frequent this place often but do plan on stopping by when I'm visiting family in the area read more

I'm pretty much a regular here. If I was here any more, they would charge me rent. Most upscale bar in the hinterlands of Lake County. Great beer selection and the fact you can order from neighboring restaurants is a plus. Staff are pleasant and there is music on the weekends. That being said, they need to get with the program and get a decent wine selection that they sell by the glass instead of the battery acid they have on tap. I was sitting at the bar with four other people who had ordered wine also. They had the same opinion as I did in that it tasted pretty funky. When we asked the bartender about that she responded that air does not touch the wine until it is dispensed from the taps. Well that's great but if you have crappy wine being dispensed, the most sophisticated delivery system isn't going to help the wine they are currently selling. Crap in crap out. When we asked if they were going to sell any other types of wine in the future she said no. When we asked if she could bring our request to the management she said it won't do any good they won't get any other kinds of wine here. Very ironic considering the restaurant next store sells wine by the glass at greatly inflated prices. It's great that they focus on such a great craft beer selection however they could do the same with the wine that they sell. They're missing out on a large customer group. If what the bartender said is true, it's pretty sad and demonstrates a lack of customer focus as well as business acumen. read more

I had a great time at this upscale sports, gaming, and social bar the other night. I was impressed with the selection of draft and bottled beers. There were some interesting new classic cocktails on the menu, too. I tried their signature old fashioned both with a Bulleit and a house recommended rye. The bartender had created a Yippee-Ki-Yay cocktail made with rye, apricot liqueur, demarara syrup, and lemon juice. This was a big hit! First I ordered it as a shaken cocktail served up in a classic coupe. Then we started dividing these into shots across the friendly people I met on either sides of me. Those kept flowing! I'll make these at home to add to my repetoire. I had the cutest couple, a sweet buxom blonde with her quiet, friendly husband make instant friends with me. Prices could be better for the area but this bar has a phenomenal staff that makes you feel comfortable and wanting you to come back for more. ordering from rosatis may take quite a long time so I recommend keeping some trail mix in your pockets if you are a bit beyond hungry. Unless the Taco place next door is open then I'd suggest ordering from them. It sucks that we can't use the trivia winnings on trivia nights as that's a night I try to come into the bar, I wish that would change. it seemed to drive a lot of teams away making the night less fun. Overall, it can use some adjustments but I keep coming back for the lovely staff who make the experience worth it. 5 stars is for staff service, 2.5 at best for the rest. it is clean though. read more

This bar has one of the best atmospheres you will find in the area. The prices are slightly higher than the surrounding area bars but they're not outrageous. The few extra dollars you spend will be worth not being around obnoxious drunks. The staff is always friendly and they have a variety of specialty cocktails. So I'm a big fan of chances. Tonight was a maplewood tap takeover. Love their beers and the rep from maple wood, charlie was great. We ordered some beers and waited over 10 minutes for a beer. The food took even longer. The staff tried but they were overwhelmed with patrons and were understaffed. Tonight wasn't a good experience. I'll think again about coming here on a Friday night. Oh, then I get my bill. Turns out I get overcharged by 40 bucks for 4 beers I DIDN'T order. The manager says "I'm sorry it was a mistake, I was just trying to combine tables." Overall, I was very disappointed with the service that I am usually satisfied with. If Charlie was not there, I would have given a review of 0 stars. Rock on Charlie. read more

Went to this place a few months ago and it was not worth the money. I ordered the scallops for $25.00. I received 3 the size a bit smaller than a quarter. One side of the was char and other side was raw. I should have sent it back but I will never do that since I'm not sure what I may get back from the kitchen. I went in to try the gaming, when I gamble I like to have a glass of wine, I ordered wine and it was $9.00 a glass. I asked the bartender for future if they carried a house wine or something that was a tad cheaper (more gaming money for me), and he rudely replied, "we don't sell any crap here!" he was truly looking down at me because I am not willing to spend that much for a glass of ok wine in a small Lindenhurst bar. Great craft beer draft and bottles along with the coolest wine dispenser machine I've ever seen. Has a lot of beer and wine events and has new ones each month that you don't want to miss. First of all this bar inside is much nicer than one would expect from the outside and location. My wife and I have been here many times and love a lot of things, including the beer selection which includes continually updating the draft beer options. They are always hosting wine and beer events which are fun. However, the service is horrible to the point I am not sure if we will be back. Last evening we met there after work and planned to watch a basketball game, eat dinner and have several drinks. We had 2 drinks, and both of them we had to walk up to the bar, not just order, but wave someone down first. No one ever came to our table despite the fact there were not many customers there. 45 minutes, empty glasses and not 1 visit to our table. So we decided to leave and go elsewhere. I will say the service has NEVER been good, but we have been overlooking for too long because we really wanted to like the place. Now I am not sure if we will be back. read more
