I came here for the second time ever on Mother's Day, and we had a pretty good experience; however, I would much rather come here for drinks and entertainment than food. We asked to sit on the patio, and the atmosphere was awesome! We had tons of room at our 6-person table, and we had an umbrella, which was a lifesaver for the sunny, hot day. We specifically came here for their patio and entertainment; Brecken Miles was the entertainment, and he was singing and playing guitar. We were not disappointed because he was awesome! Servicewise, our waitress was nice, but admittedly, it took her a LONG time to check on us throughout our meal. There seemed to only be 2 waitresses working the patio area, so, understandably, service was a bit slow. Drinkwise, more than half of our table ordered a Pacifico because they had them on draft and in a can, but our waitress came back 10 minutes later telling us they only had one can left and were all out. Three of us ended up ordering a different drink, and thankfully, they had many options to choose from. Now, onto the biggest disappointment: the food. I ordered a new Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, and it was DROWNED in sauce. Normally, I love a ton of sauce, and when I first got my sandwich, I was excited by the amount of sauce. However, once I tasted it, I noticed that the chicken itself was so tough and overcooked that they probably put so much sauce on it to try and make the chicken more wet. Well, let me tell you, it didn't help at all. I did tell the waitress, and she was nice about taking my food back and allowing me to order something else. I ended up ordering 2 crispy tacos instead. These were fine, but nothing special and honestly very plain. My family was done with their food by the time I got my new meal, but thankfully, we were staying to listen to the music, so it didn't matter too much. Everyone else enjoyed their meals, but I tried my husband's Chicken Caesar Salad, and the chicken in that wasn't very good to me, either. It tasted plain with no seasonings. We used to come here a couple of times each summer for their life music and outside area. We went again this year on Mothers day as they had two people playing. The guitarist was quite good, but I am wondering why the other guy was allowed to sing in public (honestly, he should have tipped us for listening, that guy did clearly not have a voice). Really bad ! Their food has always been just ok bar food, now their prices went up a lot ($5.99 for a small basket of chips, used to be $3.99) but - and this made me write this review - on top they are charging you 4% credit card surcharge on the total bill !!! And moreso, you will find out only after paying - this surcharge not shown on their device but only on the printout and the waitress did not tell me about it. This is just wrong ! Called and complained and wanted a refund and they couldn't unless we brought the food back, that we threw away. We have never have ea there before and won't be going back. They wouldn't refund us. First time ordering from here. It's a big disappointment. The Triple Grilled Cheese Sandwich was hard and only had one cheap American cheese in between breads. The Taco Salad for 9 bucks was disgusting as well, I thought it would come with a big taco shell but they only put a couple of pieces of nacho chips, and the ground beef was like the scraped, burnt meat from a pan. The sour cream had the texture of cream cheese. Jesse Oaks Chips was about 2 to 3 ounces for $6 and some were soggy. Geezus. Never again. So for a place that has been there for years, the kitchen has no clue how to time a table. From 6 of us and one table all ordered together the food came out in waves. It took over 15 minutes from the time the first items were dropped off for two of us until we all had our orders. Freaking stupid. Chips for nachos not fresh, the boneless wing with sauce looked and tasted like they sat under a heat lamp since the morning. We have not been to Jesse Oaks since SIP began** We go to Jesse Oaks somewhat regularly for lunch and a beer or two. FOOD: Mediocre, but they actually have a veggie wrap on the menu, which is nice as most standard bar food places don't offer many vegetable sandwich options. Pizza here is solid--typical Lake County thin crust pizza. Not extraordinary, but no place around here is. It's good enough, that's for sure. SERVICE: Pretty awful--especially if you sit on the patio. We have gotten to the point now that, when we just sit in the patio, we go to the bar and order for ourselves (drinks and food). Otherwise, you may never see a server. ATMOSPHERE: Love love love the outdoor patio on nice days. And they let us park our bicycles inside the patio so we can keep an eye on them all the time. Very helpful. Inside is standard hole-in-the-wall type bar/dining room. Nothing to complain about. PRICE: Pretty fantastic. I love that all the menu items are a la carte--keeps costs down. If I don't want fries, then I don't pay for them. Pizza, burgers and sandwiches are very reasonably priced anyway. And Jesse Oaks always has great drink and food specials throughout the week. Been here a few times have had the burgers and had no complaints but ordered the nachos last time I was there and I couldn't even eat them. I ordered a meal and it was canceled after paying for the meal. When trying to find a resolution the Bar Manager talked negatively behind my back. I was able to over hear her talking very negativly When speaking to the owner there was no apology for service that was highly unprofessional. The small resolution he did offer for my food not arriving and being without food was not reasonable. The owner took no responsibility for his staff talking behind a customers back negativly. I want to share our disappointing experience of our latest volleyball season with you all in hopes of the changes that I hope come to this venue. We are sad to say this experience has completely changed how we see this engaging venue full of great people. We have loved playing volleyball here. It's fun, the people are amazing, great refs and wonderful bartenders. We have been playing here for years. That being said, my team and I are extremely disappointed in how this season ended. On the last game of our season in the semi final round AFTER we played the previous week with the SAME team and it was signed off by the refs, one of our players was not allowed to play because of not having signed a roster. His name was there but signature was not. Yes, we are aware he should have signed it. That being said, the ref said he could play last week and signed off for him. And now this week he could not? Our team was punished for an error that took place on behalf of the organizer and we were punished for something that we were not at fault for. Our teams issue resides with the lack of consistency that this venue does not follow. Our teams issue resides with the fact that we were punished for something we should not have been punished for. It's a BAR LEAGUE. You can't pick and choose when you want to uphold your own rules that you make. I hope this doesn't happen to any other team again. Safe to say Jesse Oaks has lost some seriously loyalty tonight. read more

This place is ridiculous. I ordered some wings on Wednesday because of the .65 wing special. We have did this for many years. Two Wednesday in a row, we received wings that were undercooked and without sauce. Well I called and complained. Left a message for management Sean ( very rude man). He said what would you like me to do. Well Sean I will be bringing back the wings and would like you to remake them. No money back just remake them. Do y'all know when I came in he didn't want to remake or refund and had the audacity to put his hands all over them. As I was leaving with them same dry undercooked wings I told him to keep them and the $6.50. Because obviously he needed it more. Sean and the older lady Sandi are the most rudest people ever. Loved it here!!! Yummy grilled cheese & tortilla soup!! Watch out !! It is spicy !! I love this place because it is dog friendly. They came out with a treat for my dog as well as a clean water bowl. He loved it there. Loves people & other dogs. He was super happy to be out to eat with his best friend. He's a bigger dog, shiba inu mix so he wasn't a lap sized pup. Today was the second time coming here for breakfast. The food is great. Bloody Marys, top shelf. However, there were a few people in the bar area that were LOUD and vulgar. I'm not a prude, but after several "F" bombs, "C" words and blatant rudeness to the staff, I was ready to leave. This went on for about half an hour. The female bartenders were doing nothing. We were ready to leave. Finally, a female server told them to be quiet or leave. They continued until she threatened calling police. NO ONE ELSE THERE DID ANYTHING. Jesse Oaks is one of the most comfortable places around , true it is a biker bar to an extent , but is completely family friendly with Volleyball , Live music and party facilities to rent . It even has indoor sand pits for fun in the winter . Sean and Steph along with their staff love their customers and treat them like family . Having never been to Jesse Oaks before, we were promptly greeted at the bar by a wonderfully attentive bartender that spoke of specials and current events! Scoping out the huge facility, I was visibly impressed by the cleanliness & service demonstrated by all visible employees. Started off good, then our meal came, I mean my girlfriends meal came. Mine didn't come out for another 15 minutes. She had already finished. After finishing we sat and waited for our bill to come, it never did. Had to walk over and ask our waitress (who was standing on her cell phone) to do her job and please bring the bill so we can pay for their terrible service. Gave her my credit card and waited another 20 minutes for her to return. Normally wouldn't be this critical but the restaurant was 75% unoccupied!!!
