The Travelodge Parksville is a flawless match for the Yelp 2/5 star review description: "Meh. I've…read moreexperienced better." Nothing was glaringly wrong with the facility. The room was clean, though it featured dated decor; I didn't notice stains on any of the towels or bedding. I didn't spot a single rodent during my two night stay. Signs posted throughout the room represented significant managerial overreach (pictured). What was I supposed to use the rags for? Apparently, air conditioners should be turned off when heading out for the day "per company policy". It felt like management's directives were burdensome, and excessively focused at reducing operating expenses. There was a bulk conditioner/shampoo/soap dispenser (pictured) in the shower, which I've never seen at a hotel before. There were also individual conditioner/shampoo/soap bottles on the counter. While the individual containers were free to use, it felt like management was trying to position the individual containers as a paid amenity to save on replacement expenses. The refrigerator was old, and of the sort where the "freezing" compartment might not stay below 0 degrees celsius. Fine for storing milk. I found it striking that management considered the "vending machine" an important enough amenity that its location was labelled on the sign next to the elevator. I found cherry tomatoes in the vending machine's coin return slot; disgusting to say the least. Hopefully the tomatoes hadn't been sitting there for too long. The continental breakfast included a nice waffle iron and Activia yogurt (which I've never seen included with a basic continental breakfast before), among other items. Unfortunately, I spotted a small insect in the plain brown/white bread box. With nice muffins and waffles available, it's possible the basic bread had gone stale due to low demand and turnover. The fellow tasked with setting out the breakfast was both diligent and kind: I saw him help children with the waffle machine on more than one occasion. I worried that he may have been overworked, as I saw him setting out breakfast at 7:00 AM and still working when I returned at ~9:00 PM on the same day. On the whole, this facility surely benefits from a lack of competitive hotels nearby. It might be okay for a night-or-two-long stay for your child's lacrosse team, but I certainly wouldn't recommend this place for a vacation.

Hotel Values cancellation policy defaults to the hotels cancellation policy. When I spoke to the online booking agent they informed me I would have to pursue the hotel for a refund. I called the hotel and got confirmation that their cancellation policy is 24hr but that they couldn't refund. So basically I got the run around. after a heated exchange with the manager he hung up on me. Manager told me they could not refund because they weren't the ones who charged my card. Bottom line is Travel lodge Parksville plays fast and loose with their guests trust. The best thing I can say about the management is they have piss poor negotiation skills with the third party who is not authorized to refund even within the hotels own cancellation policy. Moral of the story for me is I will only book directly with Hotels from now on. No more third parties and definitely not going to risk Travel lodge in Parksville. other reviews are pretty crap although front desk staff aren't too blame. By most accounts they are professional and "discreet" when covering their management's ass. Typical. I feel for the staff. Maybe I'll ask Trudeau to refund me. Actually now we're trying to call Hotel Values and can't get through. SCAM SCAM SCAM.

MGM restaurant next to Motel is also very reasonable and has many options. There is also some night time entertainment at the restaurant, live music and dance classes. Problem was with smoky air in the room. In the morning I opened door and window to clear the air, motel cleaner walked past the room with cleaning supplies smoking, making room smoky again. I packed up and went to front desk. Manager was very nice about it all, and explained that my room was next to a smoking room, so it could have come from there. Cleaners are not supposed to walk around smoking she explained. Disappointed as otherwise its a good place to stay for a reasonable price and I wanted stay on for another night, but the smoke was too much for me.

Looking for the ultimate romantic getaway? Private hot tub, warm fire, gorgeous views kinda trip?…read moreThe Crystal Cove Beach Resort in Tofino is an absolute must. But wait! They are also the perfect options for a family trip with kiddos. Rent one of 30+ cabin or tree houses for a week and you'll never want to go back home! This resort has the most amazing staff, they are always smiling and offering to help in anyway they can, whether it's a text to see if you require anything, to opening the door when you've got your hands full! Their property is fully equipped with a playground with tons of fun wooden structures that the kids will love and get hours of play from. Perfectly located steps from the beach and a hop, skip and a jump to town. In their office they have DVD's, board games, coffee, tea, an adorable herb garden just outside the doors and a social area. They even have a box of toys and beach gear for the kids to play with! Our log cabin was amazing! We were stunned how everything was included in the stay as well. In our private secluded cabin we had a cozy outdoor area to enjoy breakfast and a good book. We had our own BBQ which comes with all the tools you'll need to whip up an amazing BBQ dinner. Our very own private hot tub, we took full advantage of that! It had all the bells and whistles and was the perfect night cap to a great day. Inside we had a massive fireplace with all the wood you require to keep your cabin as warm and cozy as you'd like, we only put one log on and it lasted all night long. Not to mention the rooms were already warm with in-floor heating that kept our toes warm! The shower is beautiful and fits 2 for sure, felt like a rainforest! The bed was massive and super comfy. I love how they have a full kitchen, it literally includes every single kitchen tool and gadget that you might need to cooking, baking, roasting, BBQ'ing, shall I go on? They even have a Cabin Stocking Program where you leave it to them to stock your cabin so you arrive with groceries and everything you need to settle in! I haven't been to a resort that literally thinks of everything! Missing something? They will ensure it's on your doorstep asap! There is so much to see and do on your vacation to Tofino, but you'll definitely want to set some time aside for perusing around the hotel grounds or just enjoy a cup of coffee on your balcony and enjoy the sweet sounds of the crashing waves and the smell of fresh air. The grounds are well kept with beautiful flowers and not too much clutter to distract from the natural views. You're only steps away from all the outdoor adventures your heart desires, from paddle boarding and kayaking, to hot springs, fishing and hiking. Bonus, they are pet-friendly and also offer up to 60 private RV spots! Don't have an RV?They have 9 Glamping RV's you can rent as well! It's crazy because there was a vehicle in each spot but I didn't seem many people around, we were truly secluded in our private little nook which nice for a change!

Overcooked scrambled eggs, a toaster that didn't work very well and took forever to make any toast at all. A waffle maker that a guest told me not to use because it didn't work. Complimentary breakfast was simple with an assortment of packaged muffins, yogurt, fruit and coffee. On the other hand, the facilities itself are only okay with cleanliness being questionable in our suite. There were some stains on the carpet before we got there and the air condition is quite loud. The rooms were renovated and had a nice washroom and kitchen but is definitely dated. Unfortunately, we did not receive great service from one of the front desk staff members and this plus the facility cleanliness leads to 4 instead of 5 stars.
