I placed an order(takeout) on Mother's Day. It was worst experience. The food was really bad and I made complained call to manager(Vikas) who was very rude. Paneer Tilka was made of ketup and Tandoor nan was half cooked. Manager even didn't listen me over the phone and said don't come next time if you didn't like food. it has been almost an year since i visited this place last as i moved out of state. Even now, just a thought of food at this place makes my mouth water. Try "paneer burji", it is awesome. They have a wide assortment of desserts topped by the chocolate fountain. Their buffet is a good choice, however i would suggest to try their À la carte menu also. It was a great experience in Chand Palace. First and foremost, the food is exceptionally amazing. I was little skeptic, thinking how every item can taste good. To my surprise, every item was simply delicious. I then realized, it will be by bad if i don't appreciate the Chef of the day who made my day. Waiters were really polite, specially Mr. P.K, he answered all the questions i have regarding the Chef. Again, to my surprise, the owner of Chand palace was the Chef of that night. I meet him and appreciated his work, he felt really happy and we had a very good conversation. Even the ambiance, though it was little closed, they set it up very well. Ah! Went there for the first time to try their vegetarian buffet. Being a non vegetarian, I was surprised to see so many delicious vegetarian dishes. They had an amazing range of appetizers like manchow soup, idlis, pakodas(green chilly, eggplant). I tried the cheese mini samosa and fell in love with it. I must have eaten 4 5 of them. Their main course comprised of mostly of mouth watering dishes like chole bature, paneer, and other standard dishes. Their fried rice tasted yummy , one of the best I ever had. They had a separate counter for desserts and I was totally amazed by the number of items they had. It comprised of juices such as mango lassi, fresh lime soda all included with buffet and fruit salad, strawberries which one can chocolate coat it , chikki, kheer(rice pudding), rasmalai, gajar halwa, gulab jamun, jalebi and soan papdi. The staff were very nice and we're also taking mini dosa orders included in buffet. I definitely recommend this place to everyone. Went for their buffet, which is about $18 per person. If you're looking to try Indian cuisine, this is a great place to start. Spring rolls, the spicy soup (I forgot what was in the soup, it was green), pani puri were the highlights for me. You can order customized dosas and naan to your table, which is great. At least 6 or 7 items in the dessert row tops up an already filling and delicious meal. As Chand Palace was tasked with catering all meals during a recent wedding celebration, I had the displeasure of experiencing firsthand the quality of food provided on four separate occasions. Not only was each dish more unappetizing than the next, most of the guests were gifted with a severe case of what I presume to be bacterial gastroenteritis lasting for over 7 days. It would be wise to avoid this establishment, unless you truly value the weight loss, fevers, myalgias, and severe GI upset that accompanies the sub-par cuisine. Many of us will never eat at Chand Palace again. I, myself, will probably never be able to eat Indian food with peace of mind ever again. Went to a wedding venue where Chand Palace catered multiple meals of true ambrosia. It was an amazing experience if one truly hungered to model after the disproportionate barbie dolls over an inhumanly short amount of time. Shame it was after the wedding and summer season. The ambrosial food was decorated beautifully with varying colors, assortments, and textures, ranging from the darker, more formed chunks to more bilious, yellowish green liquid. The excremental delicacies were elegantly mediocre with a noticeable lack of protein. But the delights don't stop just there. As if yearning for the grandest prizes of foreshadowing, the ambrosia is the gift that keeps on giving, day after day, if not in through the mouth, then surely it must exit through the other end. And so the gifts come, first the bilious yellow and musky green, like the deluge of Genesis. Then, the loose watery floods come, having washed the colon cleaner than a precolonoscopy purge. Day after day, the ambrosia keeps the cataclysmic current going, refusing to let global warming be the only source of increasing sea levels. After days of ecstatic highs of unconstrained fevers and rapturous chills, the ambrosia finally takes form, returning to the chunkier soupy hors d'oeuvre. This divine experience was truly too great for mortals to bear, caveat emptor. read more

The food is good and the owner is truly a people person. However, hats off to the servers. They are some of the best I've come across in the food industry. Keep in mind that gratuity is automatically billed, which is great as many don't tip at buffets. This is a vegetarian-only buffet but they have a-la-carte menus as well. I can see how this restaurant has a loyal customer base. As always, this place is great. Lunch and dinner both have buffets and everything is vegetarian. People have stated in other review thats there is not a big selection, yet every time I got there are 4-5 appetizers, 6-7 entrees, sides plus a whole dessert area. Weekends have even more selection. I think the selection and the price are reasonable considering how much Indian food usually costs and how much time it takes to prepare. I find that the food is always fresh and tastes great. I have taken a few non-vegetarians here and they have never complained that they missed the meat options. Being Filipino, the concept of meals without meat tend to throw me off; however, my diet was limited by Lent and I got a ton of recommendations for this place from various people so I decided to try it out. Despite the lack of meat, I also found it quite yummy. The sauce of that one dish that tasted like tikka masala sauce was like crack and I went back for a refill multiple times. If it weren't for my lactose intolerance, I might have made a serious attempt at blocking everyone else from that buffet line and just drinking it all down. It is vegetarian paradise. I loved the options for the buffet. I hated the 45 min wait due to completely booked state, but once I tasted the food I have no regrets. We came here for MLK day, It was a buffet style for dinner which is great because I can get to try everything and dont need to commit to anything I do not like. The place was almost full with majority of the patrons being Indian which tells me this place is probably authentic. It was a Monday night, even with the place nearly packed, the noise level wasnt too bad. The service was quick too. I tried everything and I loved everything. I haven't been to this place in a while, I am sorry to say. Its started its downward slide as most indian restaurants in the central NJ do after a good initial start. It maybe the economy, or maybe the owner trying to keep his margins constant, food has started to SUCK. I do not know if he started to notice or even bothered too, what compliments this is the recent hired staff, specially at the front desk, a really skank with an attitude to go with it. As people say when things go wrong they do at the worst possible time. I walked in here with thwo other friends of mine to eat, at the bitch at the front desk refused to give us a booth as we were 3 people and said they were reserved for 4. There were 4 booth empty but refused to allow us sit, after about 15 minutes I saw the owner ( decent guy, I knew him from the old days), he apologized "remembered me as a patron from the old days when they just opened". Immediately gave us a table. Sad to say the food was greecy and a lot of crappy stuff also the prices have crept up. We spent almost 40 minutes there was not a another soul who waked in took the other tables..... thats when I decided this place will hit rock bottom soon.... its just the matter of time with a spuid hostess at the front. read more

This is easily one of my favorite restaurants for numerous reasons. Not only is the food great, but the place looks classy which adds to the overall appeal. I have also ordered take-out on many occasions and found that reheating leftovers the next day does not decrease the quality which I found impressive. I've only been here once, and ate at the dinner buffet. So this is a narrow review for that one option alone. On the one hand, it's a very good amount of variety. For introducing someone to Indian food, for instance, it offers a lot of options. It has things like paani puri, which is fun, and there are lots of different kinds of desserts as well. On the other hand, the food quality is a bit iffy. The main veg dishes are all *heavy*. You'll come out feeling not fed so much as stuffed. Their heaviness and cream and so on slightly mask the fact that the food isn't really fantastic; there's much better Indian food in urban areas of the US. Plus, there's very little that feels especially healthy, from the mains to the dessert (whose strawberries are the only non-full-on-sugar option -- and even they're meant for dipping in the chocolate fountain...). In a sense, this is typical of many Indian buffets, and indeed of Indian restaurants even in India. So it's not especially out of the ordinary. But if you've gotten used to really quality Indian food in the US (which is possible -- even in buffets), this is a reminder of what more typical Indian restaurants are like. The place is pleasant-looking (definitely a step up from a hole-in-the-wall), the service is decent, and the staff seem friendly. The place seems to attract a lot of Indians, so when we were there we heard more Tamil than English, which was definitely a nice homely touch. Note that the dinner buffet bill includes an automatic 15% gratuity (we were only a party of two). read more
