I loved my visit! I love that it was FREE! I didn't notice any donation box or anything but I would've left something if I saw one.. I had a great experience. I love that they change exhibits every so often. I really enjoyed learning about Chandler. But was most meaningful to me during my visit was the 4th Grade Project Exhibit. "Judy Gelles mission to foster empathy and curiosity". She had been working on this project since 2008 and asked 4th graders all around the world 3 questions. Who do you live with, who do you live with and what do you worry about? Heartfelt. You never stop to think how much worries young people. Some worried about death, being shot, getting their only shoes dirty, etc. shows how much factors at home and impact them. It was deep to see and read!! Worth a visit I will return to see what the next exhibit might be! read more

This a very small museum but with a beautiful architecture and great exhibitions. Went to see the jazz photography by Bob Willoughby and it was beautiful, so many big names in the jazz world. If you get the chance go see it! They also have a great gift shop and their customer service was outstanding. read more

We visited July 2024 I brought my adult daughter who teaches high school in CA and my 2 little grandsons age 3 and 7. The boys loved doing the scavenger hunt. We explored all sorts of the museum including the areas outside in the old adobe buildings. We learned about Dr Chandler who was a Veterinarian for cattle originally but he soon became a big time land developer. He had 3 wives during his lifetime. The museum is in a state of the art building. It's very classy and does a great job of explaining the history of Chandler and nearby Williams Field Air Base. The museum is free to visit. Please be respectful of the museum and the displays. It's a wonderful place. read more

We love visiting the Chandler Museum especially for the toddler/preschool age classes they offer (ArtTots and C-Town). Mary Jean and Shonda who lead the classes are the absolute best! They are so sweet and work so well with the kids. To begin there's ample parking. The museum is located across from the mall if you want to shop or eat beforehand. The grounds are modern and very cute. A nice variety of birds fly by as I wait for a friend to show up. Once inside there's no fee to peruse this small but adequate venue. I found clean restrooms. The best part was a cute shop with locally made jewelry and other made in the USA items. read more

A very cute museum in Chandler! It's perfect for families- especially when you only want to walk around for an hour. It's not very big but has a lot of interesting material and sights within. The outside is beautiful with intriguing art/ceilings and plenty of shade when the sun goes down. I definitely recommend this place. Also- it's FREE!! read more

I've driven past the Chandler Museum many times, always saying one day I would stop in. When I heard about the Death and Diamonds exhibit, I knew it was something I had to see. It's a great little museum with lots of information on the history of Chandler. Exhibits change every few months so check their website to see what is current. It's definitely worth a visit! Admission is free but you can make a donation via credit card at the gift shop. While in the gift shop make sure to check out the pieces from local artists for sale. read more

Detailed history of Zora Folley, who was from Chandler and his boxing opponent, Muhammad Ali. Even their boxing outfits were on display. In the hallway are photos from the 1940s to 1980s on individuals making up the history of Chandler. Stop by the gift shop for souvenirs. read more

Very excited that this Museum has opened and located near the Chandler Mall. Their Awkward Family Photo Exhibit was a great kickoff. Admission is FREE and the staff was helpful in giving us a tour of the Price Home museum located next door. The Price Home will soon be open to the general public soon. The Chandler Museum has only been open for 3 weeks, and only had the Family photo and Japanese exhibits open. A Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit will be open there next year. Not too much to report here since this place is so new, but the family had a great time visiting and we are all excited to see what's to come of this place. read more

Stopped off to see the Boxing exhibit and was not disappointed. Never went before the remodel but I will say this is a world class facility. Entrance is free but it's wise to tip. Also, if you want a pictorial history lesson of Chandler along with a sports wall of fame then I advise you stop in as they have both. read more

I found this free muesum by accident but it was a beautiful place. The greeter was kind and informative. The exhibits change every six months or so. Current historic exhibit is Folley v Ali and a small civil rights movement exhibit. Museum has around three rooms for show currently. Stop on by. read more

I went there for the showing of the "Un-American: Japanese Internment in Our Backyard" where a curator has gathered and displayed events when the Japanese American population of the U.S. were rounded up and interned during WWII. There were 16,665 JAs interned, and cranes were made and gathered from around the world, one for each internee. As it turned out, over 17,000 cranes were made and displayed. It was a very educational and moving photo event. The museum itself is small, which I'd expect since it is the museum for one of the suburbs of Phoenix. The displays will be up and the museum open till around mid September of this year, at which time it closes for a year or so to have a bigger facility built on property. There are historical displays in the museum for the city of Chandler. I didn't really view those displays. I would be interested in seeing the new museum once it's built and open. read more

An impressive beginning for this new museum that talks about the Ostrich, Tumbleweed Christmas Tree tradition, Dr. Chandler and more.... It just opened a few weeks ago but I can see where there going and I am delighted. It is near the Chandler Fashion Mall on Chandler Village Dr. and worth stopping to gain a little local history and old west culture between Dr. Chandler and Frank Lloyd Wright. We enjoyed learning about the history of Chandler. The museum was perfect for families. The kids were able to do a scavenger hunt in the museum. They have a "touch" area where the kids can interact with the exhibits. They had activities setup for spring break week for the kids. The employees were very friendly and helpful. read more

I was make a phone call 30 mins before coming to the museum. One of the desk person answer the phone call and told me the museum is open and closed at 5pm. So me and my bf drive over. It took us 20 mins to drive. Once we get there the desk person told us the main exhibit is closed and there only one traveler section is open. There literally only 4,5 poster in that section that's it. I was so mad I just left the place in 2 mins. read more

Great job for a new museum. Especially wanted grandchildren to learn of Gila River internment camps during WW II. Exhibit was wonderful, clearly demonstrated unlawful confinement as a result of Pearl Harbor hysteria. read more

On a Saturday I visited the Chandler Museum down near the Chandler Fashion Mall. The Admission was free so all I had to do was walk in and look around. The women at the desk was kind and told us that if we had any questions to come and ask. There were about three rooms, and two of these rooms had boards telling the stories about what was happening around the 1900's. I learned quite a few things from this museum, like some of the people that lived there and what they did, what they used during that time, and some of the buildings. One of the many boards that I had read talked about the San Marcos Hotel. It was opened in 1913 and was named for the first European Salt River Valley which was Fray Marcos de Niza. The rooms were mainly rented out in the winter season of Arizona. It eventually became a nice vacation spot for celebrities and businessmen around the country. The people of Arizona boasted about how great their view was of the Great Valley when the eastern states would deal with the cold winter. In all, this museum was very helpful. It helped me understand more about Chandler and the people. I'm from the east myself, so learning something new about this state makes me feel like I've alway lived here. The more I learn about Arizona in general, the more it feels like a second home to me. I'm glad I visited this museum. read more

I expected the museum to be much bigger. The older one in Chandler was much bigger and more interesting. I understand that this one will be expanding. It would not be interesting to young children and even teens would probably be bored. read more
