Bad experience with sales office. Docks are falling apart and many are in terrible shape.

Have had a slip here for 4 years…read more There is one dock that seems to be a "bar chain" not exactly family friendly but if you like bar hopping on the lake this marina has a spot for you. The staff when you get gas are perfectly polite, and very helpful. Unlike at Chandlers where those staff are rude and love to down talk captains cove. They are making improvements but would love to see more amenities here. They have limited items in their retail, no restaurant, but the bathrooms are very clean so that is a plus. We love it here it's 5 minutes from our front door. I would love to see more improvements most importantly is the boat ramps. Even though we have an annual slip, still have to pull boat out for maintenance annually and if ramps always closed it makes for huge pain in the ass

Absolute worst experience I've ever had renting a boat. If I could give it -5 I would. Booked a…read moremediocre 19 foot deck boat. Knew it was going to be an average experience since it was a cheap boat with an outboard motor. But what I didn't know was that my guests and I were going to have to be cleaning their own boat for them. This thing was INFESTED with spiders. On every seat, in every compartment, at both ladder locations, in the captains chair, under neath the steering wheel, I mean everywhere...strike one. Rented two accessories, a tube and a wakeboard. The tube was half deflated and two of the four handles ripped mid ride sending a passenger flying off. Then switched to the wakeboard. The rope snapped within 5 seconds. The rider didn't even have the chance to standup... strike two. Went back to the Marina to pickup another guest joining our group. Asked about another rig that wasn't infested with massive spiders and to get a new wakeboard rope. The entire staff seemed annoyed by us asking for something to be done to make our time more enjoyable. They notified us there were no more wakeboard ropes so SOL there. We were transferred over to another boat which was great. Except this was ALSO infested with spiders and the staff watched us as we grabbed a hose to clean off a nest of spider eggs (all alive) on the bow of the boat. So clearly they don't clean ANY of their equipment before getting a rental ready before a day of boating which blows my mind. Bring a power washer because they have a "do it yourself" attitude. We pushed off and didn't even make it out of boat slip before we noticed the radio did not work. We notified the staff and they scoffed with a snide remark of "turn the bottom on then"... strike THREE. Went back to our original boat and said screw it we will deal with killing spiders all day as long as we can enjoy some music. Ignition seemed to not crank normal and after a stiff turnover the key BROKE in half. We were drifting in the marina until a staff member could run over to a nearby slip to tie us down and get a spare key. Do yourself a huge favor and do NOT give this place any of your money. They will make you feel as if you're a massive inconvenience and you better like the cheap boat and the cheap accessories.

I am a founding member of the Suntex Boat Club at Lake Don Pedro, CA, and I love it…read more My membership makes me a partial owner of 5 boats right now. Because we are new chapter, it is totally easy to make reservations on the weekend and brain-dead easy during the week. I want enough but not too many people to join so we can grow the fleet but still be able to book. They have 3 new boats arriving in May 2021, so we will get a nice upgrade from regular marina rental fare. I was considering buying a boat for my empty-nest life, but do not want to deal with: buying, insurance, maintenance, trailer, storage, cleaning, towing, launching, and I don't even have a truck, so boat club is perfect for us. I used a boat last weekend, and everything was super-smooth. Because I am club, they treated me a bit better, and most of the paperwork was done when I arrived. I also have a reservation for Mother's Day in a few weeks. At Don Pedro, we get the boat all day, which is 10 to 4. The full-day rental makes it easy to get to the other side of the lake and stop, swim, play, and chill without feeling that the meter is running at $100 an hour. The boat club has the same impact as a ski pass; it makes you more integrated with your hobby and takes away the pain of paying for the rental on the day you use it, so you don't really notice. It's a buffet; the more often you go, the more value you get. I bought the Captain's membership for $3000 with a $500 discount and pay $375 a month, so the breakeven is 7 days on the water in the first year and 5 days each year after. Also, the skis, boards, and tube rentals are free, which cost $65 a day each without club. For Northern California, you can use the club at Lake Don Pedro and Lake Berryessa. I heard they will open a location in Southern California, maybe at Marina Del Rey. You can also use all the other locations throughout the US.

Joined the boat club a few months ago and couldn't be happier. Strongly considered buying a boat…read morebut decided that towing, maintaining, fixing, cleaning and everything else sounded like a lot of work that would take away from the boating experience. At Suntex you just return the boat with fuel and walk away. That staff is great too and online reservation system is easy. I also understand that they are getting 10 new boats in December!

**AVOID THIS PLACE"…read more Brought my boat there on August 5 for a Pre-Sale Inspection. I was told they would call me in a day or two with the outcome. I waited a week and a half and stopped in. I was told they didn't know what the problem was, but would call me and let me know what the problem was. A week later, I stopped in and was told it was the fuel pump. I asked to see the readout of the diagnostic machine and was told the mechanic wasn't there, but the boat would be ready by the following Thursday. I went the following Thursday to pick up the boat and was told the part wasn't in yet, but hopefully it would be in on Tuesday, after the Labor Day weekend. No call. I went in the next Thursday and they had replaced the fuel pump, but the boat wasn't ready because they had now found water in the gas tank. (Something they would have found had they performed the inspection correctly.) I was told the boat would be ready the following Wednesday. I went to pick up the boat, and the trailer lights didn't work. I was told they would be fixed on Friday and to come get the boat then. I showed up to get the boat on that Friday, and guess what, it wasn't ready, but would be ready for sure the following Thursday. It wasn't, the mechanic was gone, again, and the owner left to go on vacation. I left for an hour, came back, and the boat was finally ready. I took it to the lake the next morning and made it about 400 yards out before it died. It took a full hour to get it back on the trailer. I took it straight back to the shop and left it last Saturday morning, and was told it would be Monday before they could look at it, so I went back on Tuesday afternoon, after not hearing anything, as usual, and was told by Mike, the owner, that they couldn't really tell what was wrong with it until they put it in the water (meaning the lake). I asked why they didn't do that when I first brought it in (which I expected), and he changed the subject immediately. He said they would put it in the lake that evening, because they really couldn't tell what was wrong with it until it went in the water, again (This never happened). I went back today at 11:00 am and was met by Mike and Allen, and was treated like I was a second-class citizen, an annoyance, and like someone who hadn't already spent $2600 to date. I was told that the injectors needed cleaning and that it would be around $400 plus labor. When I asked what they found when they took the boat on Tuesday and put it in the lake so they could tell what was really wrong with the motor, he said they didn't take it after all, but all four injectors were being pulled that evening, and sent off for cleaning, without asking me what I wanted, which has been their policy all along. Just throw parts at it, never tell me what they were doing, and just pay up! I had already called two other marine repair shops that quoted me between $125 and $135 to clean all four injectors. At this point, I told Mike, the owner, that I would just take the boat and go somewhere else. Nice people who seem completely lost as to what they are doing. Not one time when I asked what something would cost did I get a straight answer. The answer was always, "I don't know." When I asked for a printout or reading of the diagnostic, I was told they couldn't find the invoice. The mechanic, Frank, was never at the shop. Ever. I saw him twice in the last month and a half, the week after I dropped the boat off, and the Friday I picked the boat up to put in the water the next day. When I asked them to call me and tell me what it would cost to repair something, the answer was always, "I don't know." How can someone who supposedly has been in this business for 55 years not know what a fuel pump, or fuel/water separator, or fuel injector costs on the most popular outboard engine in the world? The Yamaha 150 Four Stroke outboard is not a mystery. This should have been the easiest, least expensive repair job ever. RUN from this business, you'll thank me someday
