Because we are new chapter, it is totally easy to make reservations on the weekend and brain-dead easy during the week. I want enough but not too many people to join so we can grow the fleet but still be able to book. They have 3 new boats arriving in May 2021, so we will get a nice upgrade from regular marina rental fare. I was considering buying a boat for my empty-nest life, but do not want to deal with: buying, insurance, maintenance, trailer, storage, cleaning, towing, launching, and I don't even have a truck, so boat club is perfect for us. I used a boat last weekend, and everything was super-smooth. Because I am club, they treated me a bit better, and most of the paperwork was done when I arrived. I also have a reservation for Mother's Day in a few weeks. At Don Pedro, we get the boat all day, which is 10 to 4. The full-day rental makes it easy to get to the other side of the lake and stop, swim, play, and chill without feeling that the meter is running at $100 an hour. The boat club has the same impact as a ski pass; it makes you more integrated with your hobby and takes away the pain of paying for the rental on the day you use it, so you don't really notice. It's a buffet; the more often you go, the more value you get. I bought the Captain's membership for $3000 with a $500 discount and pay $375 a month, so the breakeven is 7 days on the water in the first year and 5 days each year after. Also, the skis, boards, and tube rentals are free, which cost $65 a day each without club. For Northern California, you can use the club at Lake Don Pedro and Lake Berryessa. I heard they will open a location in Southern California, maybe at Marina Del Rey. You can also use all the other locations throughout the US.

They provide direct audio communication from boat, that expedites the learning process exponentially. The instructor(s) are top notch, have deep kiteboarding experience, and have incredible familiarity with the local DFW conditions (launch sites / winds / etc) They are also able to integrate you with the local DFW kiteboarder community, which makes your transition from beginner to 'local' seamless. If you want to learn this sport, this is the quickest/safest/funnest way to do it. Learn here, kite here at home, go to your vacation spots (South Padre, Mexico, Caribbean, Spain) and be completely prepared to just Kiteboard in paradise... Highest recommendation! After 8 months of reliable use, our kite suffered a center strut rupture (things happen even to tough kites), but both esD and Liquid Force eagerly stood behind the kite and had us back on the water with fresh gear faster than we could have hoped (at no cost to us). It certainly inspires confidence when making a large purchasing decision like a new kite to know that, in the unlikely event something goes wrong, the people you're buying from and counting on for support, take your complete satisfaction so seriously. Kids go for free and once you pay for your course, oh and you can go again to the same level for free! Who does that? this speaks volumes of the instructors. They genuinely want you to learn and practice your survival skills. Oh I can't give enough positive reviews about the Instructors.... all three (Ray, Chris & Eric) followed the "I do, We do, You do" training keys.... each are aware of the participants purpose/ goal of each activity....demonstration of the skill and then complete a guided practice of the skill. We practiced building a fire, building a shelter, tying knots, using a compass to navigate, and critical first aid... Instructors interacted with each participant, giving immediate feedback and additional help when needed. However pacing of the activities was appropriate. It is a lot to take in. Yes I know camping but being able to advance my skills in a basic class was amazing and can't wait to use my skills on my own. Each Instructors is extremely knowledgeable, down-to-earth, patient, and funny! They are passionate about what they are doing & want you to ask questions You can easily recognize the effective teaching strategies that were implemented so naturally to these instructors. Overall, excellent experience. Can't wait to do this again.

I had let Chisholm Trail Rides know this was a special Father's Day gift for my son-in-law. They had recently lost their baby, and I wanted to give them an opportunity to get out of the house, spend some time together, and do something that might bring a little joy and healing to their hearts. They talked about this ride for two months and were so excited. They showed up at 6:00 a.m. for their scheduled sunrise ride -- and nobody was there. When they called, they spoke with an elderly woman who apologized and assured them they would be reimbursed. That reimbursement never came. Since then, I have called approximately 15 times, sent text messages, and sent multiple emails. My daughter and son-in-law have also tried contacting them. No response. At all. I almost never leave negative reviews, but I felt I needed to this time. Afterward, I went back and read other reviews and was extremely disappointed to see other customers describing similar problems. Mistakes happen. Scheduling mistakes happen. What I cannot understand is taking someone's money, acknowledging that the service wasn't provided, saying a refund will be issued, and then simply not responding to repeated attempts to resolve it. This wasn't just a trail ride to our family. It was something these two grieving parents had genuinely been looking forward to. I hope Chisholm Trail Rides makes this right. Until then, I cannot recommend this business, and I strongly encourage anyone considering booking to read the recent reviews and make their own decision. You have been warned.
