Island hopper plane on the Santa Rosa runway.
Rich B.

WOW! The private tour of Santa Rosa Island is a must for anyone looking for a Pacific adventure to a remote Island. A group of 6 of us took a private flight to Santa Rosa Island. On the way up we had headphones and our pilot gave us a tour of the channel islands. Once we landed we had the choice of eating the food we brought at a ranch or on the beach. We opted for the beach and hiked around a little bit. The Pilot came to pick us up on a Ford Excursion and gave us a tour of the island and saw one of two places in the world where Torrey Pines naturally occur. This place was very peaceful. One the the flight home the pilot gave a us a tour of the north side of the channel islands and safely landed. The excursion was a about 8 hours total and will last a lifetime. CIA 5 stars! Thanks, Rich

Great place to learn how to fly. Or to take a flight to the channel Island. Friendly people work there.

I cannot say enough great things about CFI. My 13 year old son, G, has been determined to take…read moreflying lessons. I called around and stopped immediately after speaking to Mikey, the office manager at CFI. He was incredibly knowledgable and helpful. He walked us through the process, answering the many questions that I had. We immediately drove over to meet him. He had a flight instructor, Alan Deroo, ready for us when we arrived. Alan showed G the different aircrafts and spent time with him finding out about his interests and goals. Yesterday, was my son's first lesson and to say he is hooked is an understatement. Alan was great with G. He was extremely thorough from start to finish. We have already booked his next lesson with Alan and it can't come soon enough. Thank you CFI for making my son's dream come true!

An extremely challenging 18 months but I couldn't have accomplished it without my instructor and the staff at CFI being advocates, pushing me along to achieve my goals in the safest, most cost effective and efficient way possible. If you're looking to achieve your aviation goals within a great airport training environment and at an exceptional school, without breaking the bank, please consider CFI. I've had nothing but a great experience with CFI during the entirety of my training; don't let the zero to hero schemes with the other guys fool you!

His expertise and calm demeanor set the perfect tone for what was to come. As we lifted off, my heart raced with excitement and a hint of nervousness. But soon, we were soaring about 500 feet above the ground, and my fear melted away. The sensation of being up in the sky, with the wind gently caressing my face, was nothing short of awe-inspiring. The true magic happened when we flew towards the ocean. The view was breathtaking, and the feeling of soaring and descending over the waves was truly exhilarating. I was able to feel the spray of the water and it was almost as if I could reach out & touch the water. I felt a rush of pure joy and freedom. Despite my fear of heights and aversion to roller coasters, I found myself completely at ease and thoroughly enjoying every second of the flight. It was an unexpected and delightful surprise that left me craving more. This ultralight flight was a 10 out of 10 experience, and I can't wait to do it again. Thank you, Mike, for an unforgettable adventure in the sky!

Recently, I decided it was finally time to see whether learning to fly was something I wanted to pursue, so I booked a discovery flight with Essence Flight School. It was an incredible experience! My instructor was knowledgeable, patient, engaging, and made the entire flight both fun and educational. I had the opportunity to learn some basic maneuvers, including making left and right turns, performing a 360-degree turn, maintaining straight-and-level flight, and getting a feel for the aircraft controls. It was such a unique and rewarding experience. If you've ever been curious about flying, I highly recommend scheduling a discovery flight. It's the perfect way to see if aviation is right for you. I'll definitely be back to learn more about earning my pilot's license. Thank you to my instructor and everyone at Essence Flight School for making my first flight such a memorable one!

(Here is the reason's why) I never been in person to this place. And I called them and let them know about my weight cause I know with Cessna 172 , it is going to be tight since I am 6'3" with 280 pounds,Tall and big guy. But he told me I am over weight (which probably I am) and it is impossible for me so he said I have to choose multi engine to be able to lift me which is 500 $ for me. No way I am paying for 60 minutes discovery flight. So, I asked him if I sign up as a student, how do I able to learn an aircraft an he said I have to pay extra 20 k since I need a bigger airplane. Feels really insulted on the last question. So if you are a big guy then this is really not a best option cause they don't find a solution for you with care. And even in my mind, if the discovery flight goes well and the vibes of the school was good, I was going to sign up as a student for PPL program and now their first impression on me was really trash and I am disappointed.
