Although we may not have been in their delivery area, they made an exception tonight. The food was well worth the wait. Sadly, I feel Chanos has lost it's touch. Once a great take-out restaurant with delicious food, Chanos became very successful very fast. As a result, their food quality has suffered and their attitude is not the same. My family always looked forward to ordering-in on the weekend, enjoying many savory Chanos dishes in the comfort of our home. Unfortunately and for the longest time, we now receive cold food one hour late on average, with barely an apology. When you order food at 5PM and ask for it to arrive by 6PM, and it doesn't show up until 7PM, it's a problem. Chanos also charges a delivery fee, which is aggravating when food arrives cold & late. After a few disappointing experiences, my family has still continued to support Chanos by giving them the benefit of having "a busy night," hoping things will improve. As of last night, we received our last one hour late cold meal. For my family, it's finally time to say "Adios!" to Chanos Latin Kitchen. read more

The food we ordered from Chanos Latin kitchen last night was high quality, fresh and filling. I love that you are able to customize your own bowls of food. We also ordered some of the homemade tortilla chips, guacamole, salsa, a kids cheese quesadilla and 2 tacos. We are excited to make another order they have a large menu. Yum! First of all, I didn't even know it was possible for something as simple as chips to taste so good. Literally the best tortilla chips I've ever had and the guacamole was delicious. The shrimp cocktail was a bit sweet but maybe that's what Acapulco style means? I like sweet so I would order it again but it did catch me off guard. Barbacoa taco was very good but I put some cilantro Salas on it which turned it into AmAzInGnEsS! Seriously though, a hint of magic might just have been the secret ingredient. Husband and daughter both enjoyed their food as well, and my incredibly picky eater toddler not only finished his chicken fingers, but was actually asking for more! Place seemed very clean and the staff was friendly and patient while we figured out what we all wanted. My only complaint is that we live out of state so we can't be regulars but we'll be going here every time we're in town. read more

We like the food OK, but not the delivery. If you order on line, you can pick a delivery time down to the nearest 5 minutes. I asked for 6:15, figuring delivery might not be exactly 6:15, but probably 6:15 give or take maybe 10 or 15 minutes. Well, it don't work that way. Especially around dinner time they get busy, and they toss your order in the same pile as everybody else who asked for delivery around the same time you did. The driver fills his van and starts driving around. Whenever he gets around to you, that's when he gets to you. So, our recent orders came as much as an hour late. I tell you this so you'll know that your dinner may arrive much later than you asked for it to, and it will be cold and soggy. read more

They need to sort out there two locations. One open, one closed, and they can't correctly answer the phone with the location that you are calling. So people end up at the wrong location. This has happened to multiple people I know. They should confirm the location when you call in bc their phones auto transfer you to another location. read more

I wanted to try this restaurant out since it looked good online. Never again these are their "tacos" & for a crazy insane price. 4.99$ for 1 taco? I also got a steak and cheese burrito the meat wasn't even cooked all the way. I've send them a message and never heard nor received an answer. Very disgusting and disappointing. Everything here is awesome- the empanadas are my favorite, especially the nacho chicken! Sauces are delicious and the chorizo is super flavorful. We thoroughly enjoy the tasty food they serve. ONLY complaint is the seasoning on their wonderful homemade chips. It is a bit too much, but the queso that I order with the chips is perfection. If they could set aside a few bags sans seasoning, it would be perfect. read more

I want to leave a good review but I cannot. First time i got a buffalo chicken and cheddar quesadilla. The quesadilla was reasonably priced but almost no flavor. Even the hot sauce was dull! The second time I got a beef and potato empanada. It was 2.99 so I thought it would be a nice size. It was small, tasteless, and seemed like it was reheated after being frozen. I'm not of a hispanic background l but i have an ex that was puerto rican, a Colombian food friend, and another good friend who is puerto rican and I have to say that all their cooking was 10x more flavorful and authentic. Nowhere near as tasty as any homemade latin food. I gave them two stars because the staff is friendly and polite. I wish I could go back but unfortunately i will not. read more

What a little gem! The food was delicious - we had churrasco, vegetarian, and Baja fish tacos. Delicious, tasty, spicy, fresh avocados and veggies. Loved the variety in sauces. Chanos is often closed - literally every time we go to order they are closed. Today, we ordered delivery, which took an hour and 20 minutes and then the order was wrong. Nacho meal came as nachos with some cheese, avocado, and beans rather than the regular nacho meal with everything and the chicken we paid for. When I called, they weren't so concerned and said they could send out the correct order with their next delivery - 30 minutes! Customer service - zero. Frankly, the food isn't worth it. Update: 50 minutes later we got what we ordered. read more

I am so thankful that Chanos is close to my work. I could eat there every day (except Monday) I am a veggie eater and they have a very good variety of veggie food. The soups are very tasty. The Fideo and poblano potato are delicious. You can't eat there, but they have a great system for take out or delivery. Everything I've had there has been top notch. All my coworkers ordered there today and everyone enjoyed the food. We'll be heading back to Chanos very soon. read more

I've been eating at chanos for years now and they have been consistently great. They have some of the best chips ever and their menu has enough different things to always want to come right back. Very filling food as well. I see some people don't like the taquitos but they're my favorite! Absolutely love this place and was happy that I came across it yesterday in their newest location in PP. All I ordered was a cheese quesadilla and to add corn inside. Of course when I got back to work there was no corn and it was just a plain cheese quesadilla. Tonight we ordered for the family and I got a quesadilla with corn again and then a mole chicken burrito no salsa. I checked the quesadilla in the car and it did have corn. When when bit into the burrito it had salsa inside. 2 for 2 on mistakes at this Pompton plains location. I guess I just have to check everything before I go. read more

Usually order the Sonora salad & it's usually really good from here. But my last experience with this salad I found a bone in my salad and was immediately repulsed. I called chanos and they offered to bring me two more salads for my friend and I. But before those new salads even arrived we started to feel really sick and even threw up. This is the second time I found a bone in my food from this place. I will never be ordering here again. If you want to throw up and feel sick all day then this is the place for you. read more

If I can give no stars I would! I ordered through door dash and after an hour of not receiving the order, I called and they told me it was on the way to expect it in 5-10 minutes. Needless to say 5-10 minutes turned into another hour so I called again only to be on hold for 10 minutes, then got disconnected. So I called back and after telling the lady who answered my name for the umpteenth time, she put me on hold again to "check the order" and to "contact the driver". Once again, got disconnected. So I called back and canceled my order after 2 1/2 hours of waiting. Terrible! read more

This location is significantly lower grade than the original in Pompton Lakes. We have ordered before and the food just isn't up to par. We ordered again today and everything is either bland or wrong. Ancho chicken was warm and soft and saucy in Pompton Lakes and here it's always cold and bone dry and little taste. Got it over the salad today and it was awful. Ordered ancho empanadas and got dry Buffalo empanadas. Not what i even ordered. I'd suck it up and eat it but it was disgusting to be fair. To top it off the delivery guy was SPEEDING in my condo development and didn't even say thank you when I handed him a cash tip. Last time I order from here. read more

In a word, disappointing. We had been looking forward to checking out this place all week, and picked up our first order tonight. I got a beef taco, and 2 types of empanadas - chicken & beef. My wife got taquitos and tacos. My son got a few tacos also, and a few other items. When we got home we laid- out our feast, divvied them up, and sat down to open the wrapping and eat. The taco was first, and the fillings looked very good, but the tortilla it was wrapped in looked odd - yellowy-orange, and not fried. It was bland and uninteresting. Next came the empanadas, and I was truly disappointed with these things. Opening the wrapping revealed a little yellow crescent shaped "something" that reminded me of a Jamaican meat patty - but much smaller - maybe 3" across, at most. Biting in was bad, and the fillings were semi-tasteless mush, particularly the beef/potato, with the chicken only slightly better in taste. The sauces, oy! They were terrible, watered down and chalky tasting, particularly the avocado. I would recommend that the owner visit any one of the dozens of empanada trucks or eateries that serve our area to see how a real empanada is made, the ones they sell definitely are not it. I see no reason why I would ever go back to this place, particularly since there are so many, other good Mexican & Latin food places around. read more

I was put on hold and when they finally took my order and asked me where I wanted to pick it up, I said Pompton Plains and I was told that PP is closed on Tuesdays even though their website says that it's open. We got dinner last night at this new location. The food was excellent. I ordered a salad and soup. The salad was huge and they did not skimp on the shrimp that I had added. We did take out last night and they only delivered half our food. Turns out the driver gave it to another house. After calling the restaurant. They couldnt have been more apologetic.
