Can't believe I've been boarding my dogs at Petsmart when this place is right around the corner! They were able to squeeze me in last minute and take my corgi pup in for boarding! The next day when I dropped off some extra food, the person up front was able to give me a quick tour. First off, this place is huge! They have separated play areas for big and small dogs. Everything is cage free which is a definite plus. Second, they have a freaking pool!! Too cool!! You do have to pay extra for pool access, but she told me a lot of their clients utilize the pool if their pet has arthritis. They have several "spa" and grooming rooms too scattered in the front and back. The place didn't reek of urine and poop which was nice. I'll definitely return to board both my dogs next time! I have been bringing my dog here for a couple years, and I plan to keep taking him here. The staff is always so friendly and it is clear that they love my dog as much as I do. At first my dog was shy and reluctant to go, but now he is so excited every time we get there that he starts making noise when we get to the parking lot. He gets in the door and heads straight for the back. Mom who?? This year, my dog had a leg amputated, so I was nervous about daycare, but they have experience with three legged dogs, and so I know he is in good hands. The place is clean and the staff is very prompt about cleaning up after the dogs. He does come home with a bit of a chemical smell to him, but i think it is kind of expected. There is a small yard area outside for the dogs to go, but it is at planned intervals and it isn't an exercise yard. Which is fine for my pup and what he needs, but I think some people want more. Overall, this is a fantastic place with caring owners and staff. My dog has had a confidence boost from going here regularly and he has slowly become less anxious in his life. read more

You will never find more caring owners than at Bark and Roll! They took this business over in July 2020, so any reviews prior to that are irrelevant to the great environment that Bark and Roll is now. My dog almost rips my arm off to get inside and comes home tired from a fun day of playing with his doggy friends. I have been to several other doggy day care faculties in our area as well as two other states so I do have over 20 years of experiences. I have learned that no matter what cleaning precautions are taken and how much people care, dogs will still pass things to other dogs just like kids do at daycare, preschool, etc. I have never been upset at my kids school because one of my children came home sick as it's the nature of being outside of your house. Bark and Roll takes every precaution possible to keeps dogs healthy and happy. They deeply care about each and every dog which is something I value above all else. They have three dogs of their own that are their babies, one of which was a rescue who has blossomed from playing there, and they are there almost every day with them. I have realistic expectations of a doggy daycare and if you do too, you will never take your dog anywhere else. side note I have boarded my dogs with a dog trainer from a big name training facility in NOVA who said the benefit of boarding with him personally was that he takes 1-3 dogs to his home for boarding to be with his family which keeps them from getting sick. BOTH times I paid over $1000 for this, and BOTH times my dog came home with kennel cough and then whip worms the second time. He was in a private home with no more than 2 other dogs. My point in adding this is that it only takes ONE dog to make your dog sick and the only way to prevent that is to stay home. I choose to take my dog to place place where he is loved and cared for the way he is at home! read more

I needed a dog daycare for my Staffordshire Terrier for three days since I knew I would be gone longer during the daytime and to my surprise CentralBarks had a deal they offered three full days to try them out for free! Great deal right...spoil my dog....wrong! Here are my experiences (I honestly started off with more trust than I should have). 1) My dog came home smelling horrid everyday, like some chemical they used to clean or something - relax at the end of the day...no, you have to bathe your dog after you pick them up. The smell irritated my throat in the car bringing my dog home - no way I could not bathe my dog when I got home! At the end I was just thinking maybe it is just me, but if it is that irritating why did I put my dog in this place that long -who knows how irritating it is for my dog. 2) I think I should have paid more attention when I came for the behavior test and do paperwork- they have you fill out the application and don't even verify what you put down is correct- anyone could have lied and said their dog had all the shots, lady never verified or made copies of the shot record. Worries me that other dogs don't have the needed shots to protect my dog let alone others. 3) On the last day my dog came out with a pretty good gash on her neck and a spot on her eye from who knows what. I brought it to the gentleman's attention at the desk when we were leaving and he said there was no report but he would check the camera(s) -he told us to go home and put Neosporin on it. Where is the supervision? I could see the gash just by looking at my dog. I realize dogs play but that is excessive play!!! 4) No cameras/live feed to watch online -who knows what goes on- and they don't have a pool anymore -it was taken out permanently. I guess a trial is good to show the real colors. My dog loves dogs and people-I haven't seen anyone she didn't like; however, I don't feel comfortable bringing her back to CentralBarks. read more

I love this place and my dog does too! She loved the swimming & got used to the environment very quickly. The place is clean & smells good which is a major plus. Pricing is competitive, and I plan to drop off my dog many more times in the future. This will be the only place I will go for dog boarding & daycare. :D 9/6/15 took her for daycare again. Dalin sends me videos of my pup swimming & playing with other pups! I love that they actually check all shot records & does a behavior check before accepting any dog. We love Central Barks. We dropped out German Shepherd mix puppy off and did the 3 day trial. He came home tired every time. They sent us email updates and our lil guy looked so happy mingling with the other dogs. We dropped him off for an overnight stay last night and he came home tuckered out, which is wonderful. This is my second review for Central Barks! Our 3.5 yo lab mix love this place so much, that my partner and I called it Prada's second home. Whenever we left him there for daycare, he gets home tired .... We can tell that Prada had great times playing with other furry friends because every time we picked him up, we saw from the tv monitor that he's running around and didn't want to leave lol! Most importantly, all the staffs were super nice and handled these dogs with care. The last time we left Prada for overnight boarding, Roger sent me some pictures and videos--which is really thoughtful! repost from 1/27/19 Tl;dr below: If you want your dog to go home smelling like pee, having soft stools and bacterial/yeast infections, missing toes (not just the nail), un-potty trained, overall lethargic/depressed for the next three days, and then pay hundreds of dollars for subsequent vet visits, then I recommend taking him/her to Central Barks! ----- (point 1 (bad) - 9 (worse)) 1. Central Barks is NOT a cage-free boarding facility. It's a day care with lots of small kennels that serve dual purposes as places for the boarders to rest (12+ hours/24 hour day) and a place for "time-out" (see points 6-7), which we learned at our last and final visit. 2. Our dog is (or at least was) potty trained, but after staying at Central Barks, she pees in the house when she never did before. 3. Every time she comes home, she has some of minor health issue (ex. soft stool or bacterial/yeast infection) and smells like urine. We suspect this has something to do with the unsanitary living conditions. Not only does the facility smell weird, but the staff are also improperly trained in cleaning up any "potty accidents"--they get a wet mop and and quickly brush it over the soiled area. No drying up the urine first and no muscle/force involved in cleaning--in fact, I'd say their method just spreads the pee around even more. 4. (Related to above) If you leave toys and a dog bed for your dog, there is a 90% chance that they won't use them, or at least, they never gave them to our dog for the 4-5 times we boarded there. Every time we picked her up, we asked the staff (usually a lady with glasses or a large man) if she uses the bed and they say yes, but the bed always smells like detergent while our dog smells like urine. It's possible that they wash the bed before returning it to us, but that's highly unlikely considering all the other things wrong with that place. 5. The staff will make false claims about your dog. Our spayed dog, while we recognize has issues about jumping on other people and dogs when she gets excited, is not one that mounts/humps other dogs, as the staff claims. With other dogs, our dog shows submissive behavior until the other dog/human shows signs of accepting play. It is possible for a spayed dog to hump/mount, but I do not believe our dog is one to do that, especially since the only people who say she humps/mounts are the staff Central Barks. A member of our family, who works in the veterinary field (although not as a behaviorist) tried to explain to them the difference between jumping and mounting/humping, but they dismissed it. The next time we picked her up, she apparently was not humping as much compared to last time. 6. They punish/"train" the dogs by putting them in small kennels for (supposedly) 5-10 minutes as "time out". Our dog is high energy and likes to play. On multiple occasions, we found out that our dog was put in time out for wanting to play with other dogs who wanted to rest. We understand that the other dogs should be allowed to rest, but what we don't understand is why a large energetic dog is put in a 4x6 ft kennel (dimensions per male employee) while the resting dog(s) get the relatively larger play space to themselves. The logic does not make sense. 7. (Related to above) When we went to pick her up during her 2nd to last time boarding at Central Barks, they spent 5 minutes trying to look for her only to find her in one of the "time out" kennels. To me, this tells me that they lied about the 5-10 minute time out rule because you wouldn't forget that a dog is in time out if they were in there for only 5-10 minutes. 8. 2 days into our last time boarding our dog at Central Barks, we received an email stating that our dog broke her toenail on some play equipment and began to bleed and that they had the situation under control. We emailed them back for clarification and an update, but they never responded (as they do with any other email), so we decided to call them. Over the phone, they said that our dog was doing fine. No more bleeding, acting like her normal energetic self, eating and drinking fine etc. (which is what they always say in their infrequent email updates). When we went to pick her up a week after the incident, they told us that her toe was bleeding again at that she began limping earlier that morning--which must have been a lie. There is no way she suddenly began bleeding and limping 7 days after the incident and a couple of hours before we picked her up. 9. (Continuation of above) We asked them if she needed to see a vet about her toenail and they said no. Instead they spared us a pinch of Kwik-stop to stop it from bleeding, which happened every time we took her on a walk (further proof that they lied to us about her condition during the prior week). Luckily, our family member who works in a vet clinic helped us prevent the infection from getting worse until we were able to bring her to a vet, who told us she lost part of her TOE (distal phalanx bone) not toenail. read more

Staying here even increased my puppy's lack of appetite he had previously. He is currently sleeping after a ton of playtime at Central Barks. We will be taking our hound dog back here next time. I had a really bad experience here. My dog was attacked and nobody bothered to tell me. When I picked her up, I saw the marks on her and asked what happened. I have been there before when the employees left the dogs alone in the room. After my dog was attacked, I was told she could only come back if I agreed that she not be with other dogs. That was ridiculous because SHE was the victim! I've used other daycares and boarded her elsewhere and had a much better experience. Needless to say, we are not going back. Thank you Central Barks for always taking a good care of our pup Leo. We have been taking Leo to Central Barks from the days they just opened. At that time our friend recommended them to as and we both boarded our dogs there (Leo and Otis). We both were happy with their service and friendly staff. Place is spacious and has plenty of room for dogs to run around. Leo loves to go there, whenever we pick him up he is always SO tired - which is a sign that he is having blast there every time. When we board Leo for a couple of days we get photos and small videos of our dog playing and socializing. Which is great to know that our pup is doing ok. I saw some reviews here saying that their dog got Kennel cough after visiting Central Barks. People, wake up, your dog can get kennel cough from walking on a street and passing by a dog with kennel cough. It is normal thing. Our pup Leo had it multiple times after visits to dog parks and places with other dogs sniffling around. Just google how to treat it and your pup will be fine. This is an update to the review we posted immediately after bringing our dachshund home from boarding over Thanksgiving. That evening at home, he started pooping and peeing all over the house. It was as if he has lost all of his training/ability to be housebroken. It was very strange. We had a mess on our hands, and had to keep him in a tiled area for almost a week. When taking him to the vet, they said that he appeared healthy and fine, and to inquire about what type of bathroom schedule/permission is implemented at Central Barks. So I then went back and spoke to the front desk at Central Barks, to ask if he had perhaps been allowed to go to the bathroom everywhere in the facility. She told me that they go in their specific area, with potty breaks every hour. She did say that sometimes they have accidents in the play area. She also told me that she wasn't there in the evenings, or at night, so would text Roger to ask him if he had noticed anything. She then said she'd text me. Well, although she was kind, I never received a text or phone call with information on how our dog did in the evenings. This concerns us, because you would think that in the competitive boarding/daycare industry, that they would want to have repeat customers, and that they would follow up and have a bit better customer service. Or, at least to show concern. ? So in addition to no text or updates during his stay, we received no follow up after I stopped by in person, to share with them what happened after we brough him home from boarding. We have been bringing our small pup (a one year old Morkie) to the Central Barks daycare occasionally over the past few months and we have just had our first sleep over. The facility is always clean, the staff very friendly, and our pup comes home happy and tired from all his time playing with his new friends. Every time we pick him up, the staff members effortlessly demonstrate they care about our pup. They always have new things to tell us about his visit and who his playmates were. They are obviously sensitive to the dogs' likes and personalities. We were happy to receive pictures and videos to show us how he's enjoying his stay and who he's been playing with. Unbelievably unprofessional and rude. We dropped our dog off for boarding this morning. At intake, the receptionist seemed to be paying little attention as information such as food, medication, crate time, etc. was being imparted. Feeling uneasy, I called back after drop off to confirm they had noted all of her information. As I discovered that they had incomplete information, I was told that it was our fault for not giving complete instructions. We had, of course, but after much back and forth, I asked, for the sake of argument, if we hadn't provided her schedule information, why hadn't they asked? The increasingly rude staff member informed me that they have so many puppies that they can't ask for that kind of info from everyone, which was even less reassuring to me. Without notice, she then handed the phone to the manager and I could hear her bad-mouthing me in the background. The manager apologized and claimed he told her to "not have an attitude". Feeling anxious and disgusted by the lack of service and competency, we immediately went and picked up our dog, which was hugely inconvenient as we were leaving town for the holiday. I was really surprised by our experience, as Central Barks has overall good reviews. After today, I would never consider leaving my dog at this place. read more

I decided to try this place for grooming based on all the good reviews. When I called to make an appointment, the person I spoke with was very pleasant and helpful, so I felt very good about taking my dogs here. Unfortunately, I did not have a positive experience. I arrived at 10:45 for an 11:00 appointment, the person at the desk said the groomer wasn't there, but would be there shortly. She suggested that we leave the dogs in the Spa room. I wasn't comfortable with that, so we waited outside for a bit and then inside as well. It was 11:00 and still no groomer. Supposedly she was on her way.
