I just picked our dog up from 5 nights/days of boarding. He was freshly washed and very happy! Unlike other places that we've boarded our dogs, our dog has never come home sick or stressed when he boards at Dogtails Chantilly. The staff is incredibly loving and communicates well with the pet owners. The dogs are kept on a strict schedule of playing in the communal playroom, getting walks, napping, eating meals, and going to sleep at night. I think the schedule really helps the dogs know what to expect at any time during their stay. I recommend having your dog go for a few days / half days of daycare prior to the first boarding visit as it helps the dog become familiar with the establishment, the routines and to know that they'll eventually go home again. I can't say enough about the staff! They're all very caring and pass along important information as well as comments about your dog that make you realize how much they interact and care about each and every dog in their care. Dog Tales daycare is truly a remarkable facility. My dog has been attending day care and boarding for about 3 years now. I can attest to the fact that the staff goes above and beyond in caring for the dogs. They provide for them, what they need personally and treat them like their own. My dog always gets excited as we drive down the street to Dog Tales and can't get out of the car fast enough to get inside. I often look at the pet cam to see what's happening. So often, the staff is petting, hugging, and playing with the dogs. It truly is peace of mind for me to know that leaving my dog at this daycare is like leaving her with family. This place is really great! I've sent my pup here a few times for socialization. I really like how they separate the smaller or calm dogs from the larger rowdier dogs. They also have a web cam that you can view from your home. I've peek in a few times and was happy to see the staff cuddle my dog (who is a bit needy), clean up messy quickly, and de-escalate any rougher play. 5 stars! read more

It's rare that I give a full house of stars but here we are! I left my dog here for five nights and what I really loved was their 24/7 webcam. Anytime I wanted to see how my dog was doing. I can just go to their webpage and find him. It really reassured me to actually see him playing or just hanging out with the other dogs. I could also look at the staff and I can report that they all take their jobs seriously and with passion. They love dogs and are attentive to their needs. For example, I picked up my dog right at closing time and one of the staff members saw me waiting outside and brought us two mugs and a jug of water to drink because it was hot! My dog licked it right up. She could of just locked up and called it a night but no she ran back in and went out of her way to still make sure my dog was alright. I loved that and thank you to that staff member:) On the operational side of the house - seamless and easy. They process you in and out. If I ever need to board my dog again - I'm taking him back here! read more

Our puppy has been going to Dog Tales for daycare for 3 months. It has been a lifesaver in terms of socializing our puppy and burning off some of that boundless puppy energy. I echo the other positive comments about this facility. My puppy cannot wait to get into the door of the facility when we arrive. He comes home and sleeps like he has had a long day of "hard work". The thing I've been most impressed by is the businesses ability to communicate and deal with problems. My puppy had a behavioral issue. I appreciate that they were willing try to correct the behavior instead of dismissing him as a "problem". (I also made some changes to my schedule with my puppy to help support the staff to hopefully prevent future issues.) The manager of this facility is fantastic when it comes to working with her staff and communicating with her clients. The entire process from your free assessment day, booking, payment to dropping and picking up your pooch is seamless. I am also guilty of stalking my puppy on their webcam and have only seen humane ways of correcting doggy conflicts when they occasionally occur. I feel that the staff at this facility loves their dogs and really gets to know them (like other reviewers have mentioned). I also want to commend as an owner of larger breed dog, for Dog Tales not being "breedist". They will accept all breeds that are non-aggressive with humans and other dogs. Off the bat, I stopped using Dog Tales only because I ended up moving further away from that area. If I didn't, my dog still with be at their daycare in a consistent basis. Majority of the staff are on the younger side, but they are very professional and knowledgable. They were barely good to my mouthy and rather large puppy. I can tell they just really loved the dogs that were there. They communicated consistently with me about my dog's behavior (good or bad). The area where the large dogs are is pretty big and the staff will take the dogs out for a walk during the day. I felt very safe leaving my dog there. Even when another dog bit my dog, they were very good about taking care of the situation and even facilitated with the other dog's owner for me to get reimbursement for the vet bill. I can't say enough about how nice the staff were. I'm sad I had to pick another place, but it's just too far of a drive for me now. I recommend Dog Tales to anyone who wants to board or put their dog in day care. Great people. read more

Whenever I bring my dog in for daycare, they know who he is the moment I roll up in my car. As soon as I open the door, Max is so happy, greets all the employees in the lobby and then immediately runs towards his playroom. His eagerness to be there is all the proof I need that he's having a great time. However, they do also have live webcams and a text message service that's free. I definitely recommend this place to all my friends (Yelp fam included). I would not call this a small business, Bc it seems to be very popular, but the employees do seem to be kind of like a family. They know all the dogs, seem genuinely happy to work with them, and are always positive and attentive. Previously, I brought my dog, Max, to another dog daycare just up the street from here, and he came home with two deep puncture wounds that they didn't even notice. I called and asked what happened, and not a single employee had any idea how he was injured. $409 in vet bills and seemed totally negligent about the situation. I wasn't even looking for compensation as I understand things can happen, but my issue is just that no one seemed to care. For real, I'm glad I found Dog Tails. read more

I love this place. They truly give special care to each dog. Our dogs don't go often, but they are always remembered when we do bring them. We have an old gal, who doesn't play much any more, but she loooves people. Sometimes I'll check in on the webcam, and there she'll be, sitting on laps getting some one on one love and attention. I don't worry about my dog at all at Dog Tales. He goes to say care and boards here often and I've never had an issue. All of the staff is very friendly and accommodating. They all are so sweet to my pooch and he gets excited to go. They take the dogs outside and offer them naps which I think is much better than the just running around in the same room all day like most of the other centers I've tried do. I just took my little Sadie to Dog Tales Daycare of Chantilly for the first time. I was so impressed with the care and cleanliness. It was great to be able to watch her on their Webcam to see how she was getting along. It was nice to see the employees playing with the dogs and being responsible to clean up little accidents almost immediately. i am definitely taking her back and plan to board her there too. If it continues as good as the first time, I will definitely give them a 5 stars. The one thing I do wish they had for the dogs is an outdoor play area. It's great that the dogs do get walks and a rest time midday! I like that they do a free evaluation day to sort out aggression and problems. We lived in Northern Virginia for about 3. We recently moved to Philadelphia and I felt compelled to let everyone know how much we and our dogs really loved this place. We started bringing our dogs Emma and Brando here for daycare right after we moved to the area. We have also boarded them several times, from a little as overnight to a full week. This place is really special and everyone who works there was incredibly nice to our dogs, and to us. Seriously impressive considering at least a dozen professionals work there. Very disappointed with my first experience here. I made it clear to the employees that this was Toby's first day care experience and he hasn't been socialized with many dogs and is timid. I came to pick him up to find my 5 month old pup secluded by himself in a little blocked off section of the room, because there were 2 big dogs there. Granted, it was close to closing time, but Toby was so scared and had peed in the corner, which no one cleaned up. For $23 I would expect someone to play with him a little bit, or at least put some toys in the room with him. Or take him outside to go to the bathroom so he wouldn't be forced to pee in the corner..... Needless to say, we won't be coming back. Very unprofessional. read more

I hated the idea of boarding my dog. Absolutely hated it. My husband and I were going away for President's Day weekend, and someone had to watch my puppy. But I was afraid and anxious and unwilling to try. So I looked on Yelp. And Dog Tales had great reviews and was close to my house. So I called them. I spoke to the manager, Holly, who suggested we bring Dodger (our dog) in for a trial run at daycare. We did that and he had the best time. So we weren't as worried about leaving him overnight. When we came home after that long weekend, Dodger wouldn't speak to us. And he slept for a whole day. But it wasn't because he didn't have a blast. I think he was afraid we weren't coming back. But we always do, and now daycare is his favorite place to go. He goes once per week and stays there when we go out of town (which is infrequent). I'm so glad my dog, who loves other dogs, has somewhere to go and play and enjoy his day. The previous reviewer, Adam, is right. The dogs don't go outside a lot, except to go to the bathroom. But, they play all day long in a huge room (Dodge is a yellow lab so he's a big boy). And you can watch them from 7 to 12 and from 2 to 7. I try to watch my puppy every chance I get. read more

My dog hasn't been injured here which is a plus, but i assume that's because, in the "Rowdy Rover" room, play is almost immediately broken up by a staff member. Interaction between dogs is soo greatly limited by the staff, that you'll find most of the dogs laying down and/or sleeping throughout the day. The "12pm-2pm" naptime seems to actually run from 11:15am-3pm, and even though the facility is open until 7pm, the playroom actually closes at 5pm, so your pup could be sitting in a crate for up to 2hrs before you arrive. Basically, don't expect your dog to be tired at the end of the day, If you're like me and send your dog to daycare for the socialization and activity, take your money somewhere else. However, if you're looking for safe place for your dog to sleep for 8hrs then this place is for you. read more

It was my first time boarding Zoey since I adopted her, and I've realized, given her past experiences, she has some separation anxiety when she is not around people and is left alone. The staff at Dog Tales went above and beyond to make her as comfortable as possible at night, switching up rooms etc. They also didn't mind when I called more than once to check in on her. We moved home to Virginia in August of 2015. For the first few months I relied on my family for Maggie's care. Soon reality kicked in and I needed to find Maggie another daycare. I had heard of Dog Tales from a fellow dog owner we met at a dog park. I figured I'd give it a try. From day one, Dog tales has been a wonderful match for Maggie. I often check on her using the webcam. She's not always playing, but always looks content. We have been consistently leaving her at day care 2-3 times a week. Each time she looks happy and relaxed when I pick her up. The staff is kind and professional. Occasionally we see members of the Dog Tales team outside the facility and Maggie is always thoroughly excited to see them. The facility, albeit small, is clean and well organized. There are four rooms, two for small dogs and two for large dogs. Small dogs have a relaxed room and a high energy room. The same goes for larger dogs. I appreciate that they let me know when Maggie needs her vaccination. It's nice to see that they keep their standards high, even it means they have to call the vets for the owners.I have not needed Maggie to stay for boarding, but I know she would be happy and comfortable should we need it. Excellent staff. Very caring and love the animals. Very observant. My dog puke up part of a Himalayas bone and they saved it to show me when I picked her up to make sure it wasn't dangerous. Betty races to get in there in the morning and happily slows moseys to the car when I pick her up. Out like a light in the backseat snoring away before I get out of the parking lot. Dog Tales has a great staff that really cares about the dogs. I bring my two dogs there twice a week for daycare. The facility isn't fancy, it is kind of old and could use some updating, but they keep it clean. The location is convenient, but was hard to find without my GPS. I think the main draw to this daycare is that it is a small business that really gets to know both me AND my dogs. There are several employees that have worked there for a long time and are very friendly and personable. Jessie and Ashley are always smiling and attentive. I cannot say enough great things about Dog Tales Daycare. I have left my dogs in a few places over the years, and Dog Tales is by far my favorite (and my dogs'!) The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and it is clear that they really love these animals. My dogs are completely different- one is outgoing and ready to play, the other is shy and more withdrawn. I am usually always worried about how they are handling change, people, other dogs, etc. When I leave them at Dog Tales, however, I am 100% worry free; I know they are in capable, kind hands. I know our dogs love it there, because they are actually excited to come back. My "shy" dog practically leaped into the arms of one of the staff members when we went back a few weeks ago. My husband and I have gone on long and short trips, and the scheduling at Dog Tales is very flexible. They even offered us a discount on a longer stay! Although these guys seem great with dogs, I am not sure about this place. Don't take your active dog here because he/she does not get much time outside. Don't take your older dog here either because he/she will be put off in a corner and segregated from others. Don't attempt to view your dog online as they indicate that you can do on their website. Every time we wanted to see our dogs we had to call and remind them to turn on the webcam. Just don't get a good feeling that the dogs are that cared for, especially given the price we paid. read more

Having had terrible experiences with boarding my 2 Pit Bulls in the past, I just want to say how HAPPY I was with Dog Tales! We have never been to a open play daycare so I wasn't sure how well my dogs would do. Turns out this is exactly what my young female needed! Plenty of play time with dogs her activity level - my older dog is 11 so he's not the most active dog. When I picked them up they were VERY happy and clean and had a great attitude - the other boarding places made them act very out of character when they were picked up and they were always filthy. I will definitely be bringing the youngest dog back for daycare as often as possible! She was actually TIRED when she came home!! I cant express how pleased I was with out first visit here! read more
