Tiger Tot and junior classes provide children with appropriate Karate training to instill self discipline, self confidence, and self control. I first began as a student of the Martial Arts in 1974 and have attended several different dojos/schools. I have been a student at East West Connection for 14 years now. East West is the most professionally run dojo with the most diverse student population that I have experienced. You are more than a student, you are family! - Michael Gutierrez

If you're looking for Tai Chi instruction then you most likely already know it is an 'internal', meditative martial art, as is Qi Gung, and others. Often, I've found, the internal is over-looked in typical Tai Chi classes. Not the case at East/West, where both outer and inner forms are taught. Michael, the instructor, has decades of experience and it shows. The price is right, the instruction is top shelf, so if you're ready for the experience, this is the place. P.S. If you wanna get some great 'external' martial art training, i.e. Okinawan style karate, I've heard this is also the place to go!

Luckily, the instructors are insanely supportive (and won't pressure you), and the attendees are various skill levels. There are two main rooms to this facility - one with a soft floor for jujitsu or yoga and one with punching bags, ropes, a big tire, etc. for hardcore training. While I've only had the chance to participate in one class so far, I'll definitely update my review as I have a chance to explore the diverse schedule that's available. I will say, it was a bit of an ego blow trying to keep up with people who have been in the program for a while, but my teacher made sure I understood he was there to help me reach my personal goals, no comparing, no judgement... just one step at a time. Also, he taught me the PROPER way to do even simple things like squats (which I was doing totally wrong). One word to the wise... if you don't have your own boxing gloves, get some! My hands smelled like dirty feet for three days (even after washing them multiple times).

I had no previous experience with BJJ but the class didn't make me feel uncomfortable and had lots of fun. The equipments on the other side of the gym is pretty cool and people were doing some kickass workout. Might try the bootcamp or kickboxing next soon.

Like his Asian counterpart, the samurai, the knight was the developer and inheritor of a sophisticated martial arts system that encompasses more than just fencing with the medieval sword; it is a comprehensive combat system useful in a variety of contexts: armed with sword, lance, axe or dagger, unarmed and in or out of plate armour. The system also covers the use of improvised weapons, such as heavy clubs, a small baton and flexible weapons. Through the study of Armizare, you will learn: -A 600 year old fighting art, tested on the battlefield by generations of medieval warriors; -A solid foundation in natural, elegant movement and universal body mechanics; -How to wield a wide variety of swords, daggers and polearms, in and out of armour; -Combative integration - learn how to move from weapon range to grappling range, and how to fight with and against diverse weapons in dissimilar combat scenarios; -The evolution of the many tools in the knightly arsenal; -The history of our tradition and the stories of its most famous (and infamous) students; -The ethical system of chivalry, in theory vs. practice, and its evolution over time.
