I was there on a weekday early afternoon. Chips and salsa were free, the chips were not that good, the salsa was way too watery but had a good kick. I had the Chapala Fajita. The first thing that I noticed was that it looked dry. And it tastes that way too. The chicken tasted better than the steak. Half of the steak fajita was rubbery. If you're looking for authentic Mexican street tacos YOU WILL NOT GET THEM HERE. The carnitas taco was extremely bland as well as their chicken Flautas. The chips were unsalted , the rice had pieces of carrots, string beans and peas which are not typically included in rice that Mexican restaurants serve.The rice gave me pallella vibes it even smelled a little sea food like. I didn't risk it I'm allergic to shellfish. My experience was horrible but yours might be better. I'll give this place a hard pass next time. Ordered fish tacos - do not even waste your breath or time thinking about ordering this- awful. Furthest thing from a traditional fish taco, shell was soaking wet I couldn't even pick it up. No sauce, wet fish it was just weird. Tried it with a fork and couldn't. Boyfriend got steak tacos. Ate his, "1 out of 10" Food was terrible, and service was awful. Why five stars? Because the combination of everything there is worth it. The food is very good, the service is good, it's clean, the prices are good, they are always very friendly. Nothing is pretending to be what it's not. This is a good Mexican restaurant that you enjoy having a casual dinner (or lunch) in. They have a full bar, they are always accomodating, open late, it is just a pleasure to go there. I was very upset with their customer service. I called on Monday to make a reservation. The man who answered told me they do not take reservations. I said ok no problem thank you. I explained my friend is pregnant so we can't risk a long wait. He asked for what day and how many people. I said Wednesday 3 people 6:30p he said no problem he would write down my info and seat us when we got there. He did tell me they had an event at 8pm which I said no problem. Cut to Wednesday when we get there- we walk in and are told they don't take reservations and they are closing early for an event. I explained the conversation I had on Monday and they said sorry everyone isn't on the same page and have no tables (again even tho she is pregnant) We went to leave and find another place and a man comes out and says there's only 3 tables waiting ahead of you to which I said but you're closing at 8? So there wouldn't be time to eat. I will never go back here again and it's a shame because I heard great things prior to this. Chapala Happy Hour is a sham. For happy hour I always get the same things shrimp empanada and margaritas. The person who I later found was the location manager was very rude to me and my friend. It took us 10 minutes for someone to come to our table to take our order. I understand its happy hour but there were only 3 other people in the restaurant.
