Grubhubbed and I thought it was excellent! Compared to some of the other taco places in northern Bergen, this one is a real find. I got 2 beef empanadas, chips and salsa, a chicken taco salad and a fish taco. Everything was fresh and well presented. The chips and salsa were great. This spot is about a 45-minute drive from my house. It has been on my list for a few months now but just always seemed too far of a drive for some tacos. However, I had some spare time on Sunday and decides to give it a go. The entrance is really cute and inviting. We I arrived I was immediately greeted by Janeth and offered a table or a seat at the bar. She was welcoming and very professional. She offered me chips and menus as I waited for my other dining partner to arrive. I had the virgin hibiscus margarita which was delicious. It was not overly sweet at all. We also got the guacamole to start as we waited for our meal. We both got the surf and turf tacos. If I'm being honest we didn't enjoy these because the charred taste was over powering and the shrimp was overcooked. We honestly should have told them but we didn't want them to feel like we didn't want to pay for them, but at 20 per order for three tacos, they need to be banging. With that being said the birria quesadilla was the best thing that we had all night. A little pricy at 17 dollars but at least it was yummy. Only thing was the meat was not distributed evenly, so some bites were better than other. I would return if I was in the area but not great enough for the 45minute drive. 3.5 stars read more

It isn't a good sign when your food containers have oil all over them. At first we thought something leaked, but the food in general was just oily and inedible. I got a shrimp fajita, which I couldn't eat. The shrimp was unrecognizable, covered in some black crust that had no flavor, and overcooked (see photo), while the whole dish was sitting in a pool of grease that isn't typical of a fajita dish. Tenafly Diner makes a better and cleaner fajita dish than this. I wound up throwing it away. The meat taco trio my daughter got was also oily; she didn't finish it because it was leaking on her hand. Such a fun vibe and good food! Staff was friendly and greeted us upon entering. The happy hour menu had really good deals so I ordered the al pastor tacos and guac. My husband ordered the Cali burrito with birria meat. We really enjoyed how tangy and fresh the salsa tasted with the chips. The guac was good but the salsa was way better. Fantastic food and service- couldn't ask for more. We arrived just in time to get a margarita for happy hour (4-6 weekdays) and it was delicious. The jalapeño one def has a kick. The bartenders made slammin margaritas all night and were warm and friendly to everyone who entered. By 7pm the place was full and everyone around me seemed happy and content. Complimentary chips and salsa to start, followed by shrimp ceviche, shrimp tacos and brisket ones, with some smooth tequila on the side. We need to share because this place needs to be known. Pop Tacos and Bar is owned by the brains behind Casual Havana in Hackensack. His name is Benito and he is warm and courteous and talented as all getout. Our first visit to PTB was on a Sunday afternoon and we were wowed when we walked in. This place is...gorgeous...very metropolitan and sleek yet warm and inviting. Look first at their drink menu. We decided on their Jalapeno Margarita (rocks, with a Tanjin rim) and a frozen mango Daquiri -- perfectly crafted by someone who understands what he is working with. The frozen drink barely separated, and that margarita...dear god. They have specials on Sundays, so we chose the Guacamole -- fresh and crunchy and limey and oh so good -- served with chips. Oh, and their salsa? Bottle it -- I was eating it with a spoon. Starters: Fried Calamari -- rings and blessedly, tentacles, lightly fried and seasoned perfectly. We Italians like them a bit crispier, but we totally got what the Kitchen was doing and they were soooo good. The Cheese Quesadilla was loaded -- loaded with melted cheese and this was no run-of-the-mill quesadilla. The tortilla was tender, yet crispy -- and this dish was full of yum. Their taco selection is so well-chosen -- you haven't seen some of their offerings -- and we went with a favorite of mine anywhere I go, Baja Fish. Three well-dressed tacos, presented open on the tin plate (nice touch), topped with perfectly diced mango and an avocado creme...red cabbage...I didn't think i would finish them all. Yeah I did. We also got the Yardbird Hot Honey Chicken tacos and they are so balanced and sweet yet savory -- and crispy and tender and yeah, just get them. Oh, almost forgot. We begged a side order of Tempura Buffalo Cauliflour from the Kitchen -- and fell on it like two maniacs. So perfect. Benito stopped by our table and we fell into a discuss about eating locally while vacationing on the islands and this guy -- this guy is just so sweet. And the mezcal margarita we tried -- so freaking awesome. We finished up with deep fried icecream. Look. I am the one scooping the fried flakes off the ball of vanilla icecream. I am THAT person. But there was so much icecream left after I did that, sniff sniff. But, of course we soldiered on and finished it. Look. Go. For a drink, or for a bite, or to take out -- but know this team is on point, and as far as servers go -- supersweet and ready with answers. And don't forget to tip and tip well. UPDATE! In all fairness, we've only gone to this spot on Saturdays/Sundays during the hours of 12-4PM, so that could be it, but the Taco's are always great and the drinks are always amazing. Came here last night with some friends to celebrate a birthday! What a cute place. Our server could not have been more accommodating and sweet. Drinks were good and not crazy priced. We started off with some chicken nachos and bubbling queso. Both came out so quickly and eaten so fast I couldn't even take a picture For entrees a few of us got Birria Quesadillas which were outstanding. I also got a side of street corn cause it's my favorite. Someone also got a house salad with chicken and also steak and shrimp tacos. Everything was delicious. We ended the night with some tres leches cake and a plantain filled "maduro" burrito. The only reason I am taking a star off was because for a chilly night in November the place was very hot and stuffy as we all left a little too sweaty for our liking- some air circulation would have made a huge difference. Holy sh!t. What a find this place is. This place wasn't even on Yelp found it on a local post on a New Milford forum. Don't waste your time with anyplace else around this area if you're looking for tacos or anything Mexican. Ordered takeout on a whim we were tired of the standard local fare. As skeptical as I was, my family and I were floored. Had the short rib birria taco, Baja fish, and the taco gringo (traditional). Ordered the nachos too and they were pretty good but I've had better. Wish we had more in the order. Ordered chicken fingers and fries for the kids and those were great as well. The fries were the crispy dusted kind. Super crispy even after sitting around for a bit. The stars of the show though were the tacos bar none. Mind you this was takeout. I'm assuming it's that much better dining at the establishment. My family are taco snobs and I can't remember anything too much better outside of isla Mujeres, Mexico. Maybe an occasional score at key west taco on a good day.
