Uneak Boutique is one of the BADDEST boutiques in the RDU area when it comes to women's fashion. Ladies if you have been struggling to find nice pieces that compliment your figure or flashy shoes that demand attention or maybe even jewelry pieces that scream your personality - look no further. Check out Uneak. UB is located off of Capital Blvd... i know you are thinking whoa where... I've never seen this. Well its nicely tucked away in a shopping center next to Pep Boys. There is free parking out front that lands you right at the front door. The shop is always super clean and well stocked. The ambiance is 'grown and sexy'. The customer service is always super sweet. There is always someone nice greeting you when you walk in. I normally purchase heels for my wife here. The prices are always on POINT! I'm talking unbelievable prices - you'll be questioning yourself lol. My favorite part about this place is the products that UB offers. I feel that the owner (Ty - super nice young lady) purchases in quantities small enough where you don't have to worry about running into anyone else in the city rocking the same outfit - well that is why you shop at small Boutiques right? I love this kiosk/online boutique because they specialize in styles that they don't duplicate. I love the bold bright colorful patterns that they feature on their ties and shirts. The business has a seasonal kiosk that they have at SouthPoint Mall. Hey are Online all year round. Their is a worker named Briana Hawkins who is always at the shop or she always answers the phone when I call and she is so helpful. There's a few other guys that work there but her customer service is amazing. She is so good at putting combinations together. Although Wilderness also carries shoes and jewelry, that's not what drew my eye. The sweaters did that. There were sweaters of all kinds, the small knit, the chunky knit, and a few combination shawl/sweaters, some even with a hand-knit look. As would be expected with this time of year, the colors were subdued: earth-tones, greys, blues -- but all were beautiful. Also expected given the time of year, that sweaters of all kinds would dominate the stock. This is definitely the type of store to visit during all the seasons. The clothes are beautiful, the staff among the most friendly and helpful I've ever had the pleasure to speak with. The one thing that matched my expectations: pricing. Wilderness House is not inexpensive. Although there were tempting, moderately priced items, Wilderness House is, unfortunately, a special occasion-only or on-sale store for me.

Despite that, I found Galatea to be a classy store but with a bohemian laid-back vibe. The separates were mostly of softer, less constructed fabrics, and of styles you don't see in the mass market stores. The fabric textures could work well for both casual or professional wear. It's always good when you can add something to your wardrobe without fear of seeing it on someone else the next week. With that; however, Galatea isn't someplace for young fashion, but rather a store for the woman who feels young at heart without necessarily being slotted into the "middle-age" genre of clothing. The clothes aren't inexpensive, though, so be prepared. Galatea also has some truly beautiful jewelry, scarves and handbags to complete whatever look you're after. The ladies working here cheerfully answered my questions and made recommendations on some of the jewelry I was perusing, but were not pushy, overbearing , or shadowing me around the store like some crazy stalkers. Many of my Galatea items become favorites and get worn out because I reach for them so often. The prices aren't super cheap, but since I end up wearing the items for a few years they actuallyl become bargains. I'd rather pay $75 for a shirt I wear 100s of times than $12 for one that shrinks weird after two washings and has to go to the thrift store. The styles are mostly comfortable and unusual, but work well for artsy or relaxed offices, low-key dressy events and socializing. A friend characterized the clothes as "California" in style. The store stocks several Made In The USA brands and lots of organic cottons, linens, etc. They also have lots of locally-made jewelry, handbags, candles, etc. While it's a grown-up, non-trendy women's store, my 15-year-old has been known to pull an item off their substantial consignment racks in the back of the store and make it work in her teen wardrobe (she's a Free People, Madewell, Urban Outfitters shopper usually.) The staff is friendly and very low-key. If you prefer shopping without having to make idle small talk, they will allow that. If you want assistance and like talking through your wardrobe choices, they will do that as well. Bonus: they sell Locopops popsicles which is always nice on a summer afternoon!
