What a gorgeous venue for any special occasion. My brother had his wedding here, and the people who took care of his fiancé and the two of us in the bridal party were fantastic!! Amanda was professional, caring, organized, and basically amazing. Dawn got us delicious food for the reception. There are wonderful places to take gorgeous photos. And the chapel itself is beautiful. We had a religion-free service and it was so touching. Amanda was the officiant and did a touching service. Our wedding ceremony was absolutely beautiful thanks to everyone at the chapel in the pines! I highly recommend them if you looking for a rustic/country feel. If you're looking to get married or renew your vows, look anywhere else first. I am extremely disappointed with the service we received at Chapel in the Pines. If I could go back in time, I would have looked for a different venue. We were treated disrespectfully from the moment we inquired about their packages, but we needed a place to get married within a couple of weeks, so our options were limited. Short version: They don't care about you or your special day. Get married elsewhere, and stay away from this place, unless you enjoy feeling like an inconvenience. Long version: Well, to start off, everything looked outdated and unkept. It wasn't what I envisioned at all. The professional photographers make this place look a lot nicer than it actually is. You would think that with the amount of people who have their weddings here, Chapel in the Pines would be able to afford updated furnishings. When it came down to our actual wedding ceremony, they overlapped our wedding with someone else's, so we had to sit and wait 15 min for other people to finish up. My question is why even tell us to show up early if there are still people using the grounds for their wedding? It seems unprofessional to schedule back to back weddings so close together, that they end up overlapping. Also, the person who officiated our ceremony (Jeffrey) seemed bothered and eager to get it all over with. It still bothers me that he asked us if we had vows, which we stated from the beginning that we did, but he ended up giving us some of the most generic vows I have ever heard. When we mentioned it to him at the end, he just said "Oops, I forgot." He acted as if he didn't just ask us 5 minutes prior to the ceremony if we had our own vows. We were pretty bummed since it took us a while to write our own vows. His response was to say them at the end of the ceremony, but only if we wanted to. Seriously? What was the use of even saying them if they aren't part of the ceremony at that point? Smh... All in all, everything was a disaster from beginning to end. We were not acknowledged and felt like a burden from the very start. I think the final straw for me was that they had a photographer there who took a few photos of us and told us that our photos would be posted on the venue's Instagram. Surprise, surprise, those photos never saw the light of day, but for some odd reason, every other couple that had a ceremony (wedding or vow renewal) had their photo posted. Given how we were initially treated, I should have expected nothing less than to be excluded. My guess is that we most likely didn't fit their cookie-cutter version of a "perfect" couple and all evidence of our ceremony was scrapped. Lastly, when we asked about the bricks they engrave to put on their property, nobody ever responded to us. Shocking, right? (Note the sarcasm...) All in all, we just felt like a burden throughout the whole process. At this point, I wish we would have gotten married at a Chuck E. Cheese rather than this place. The whole experience was unpleasant from start to finish. The photos we took only serve as a bad reminder of how dismissive everyone was with us. The real kicker was that a year later on our anniversary, they had the audacity to request a positive review from us on WeddingWire. Like, are you kidding me? Thank you Chapel in the Pines for an awesome experience. I just read the other reviews on here, and geeze, talk about rating this place based on some random occurrences. My experience with the Chapel and their staff was glorious - I try to be low key and maintenance free, however, this was my wedding and I felt like a total basket case the whole time I was planning it (sorry guys!!). Jeff and his family were more than accommodating the WHOLE time I was working with them which was about 3 months. The Chapel itself is so pretty - we had our wedding in November so it was too cold to be outside, but the Chapel itself was perfect. The grounds are just absolutely spectacular for pictures. I didn't have my reception there, because there was already a wedding booked the night that we wanted to get married, but they recommended the local steakhouse where we ended up having our reception which also turned out perfect. Jeff even went out of his way one day to re-sign our marriage license because the original I had was lost in the mail. These folks are a class act and I couldn't be more grateful for the experience. Oh my goodness I don't even know where to start... Chapel in the Pines is, by far, the greatest place to get married. My husband and I knew from the second we stepped foot on the property that this was the place to get married. This was the first venue we looked at, and we didn't even bother looking anymore after our first visit. The staff was the nicest group of people we ever met. Amanda went above and beyond to ensure our entire wedding went flawlessly! Even when we had a little bit of rain that had me worried about our day, she was dedicated to making sure I had the day I envisioned. She constantly kept me updated on the forecast until the rain went away and left a BEAUTIFUL rainbow My videographer and photographer could not stop raving about how welcome and appreciated they felt. They mentioned that most venues don't even bat an eye to see if they need anything, but Amanda was asking them all day, and made sure they were taken care of as much as we were! The staff even went as far as leaving a plate of food for me at my table because I was so busy that I almost forgot to eat. Plus, our officiant Jeff was so much fun, and accommodated our interpreter to make sure everything went seamlessly for the ceremony. He made sure everything was so special, even for the family that couldn't necessarily understand him. I had the best night of my life at Chapel in the Pines and my husband and I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is about to get married! Wow! This is Illinois' best kept secret! I stumbled across CIP website and I thought the venue was so quaint and charming. Each time I get to visit, I get to know Jeffrey, Howard and Donna and feel like they are family. Jeffrey is a pleasure to work with. His communications are always timely, professional and friendly. His business plan is a well-oiled machine. I literally had no stress going into the wedding. My confidence continued throughout the tasting, walk-through/planning session and in all of our communications. It was reaffirmed the day of the wedding when I met the coordinators of the night, Laurie and Amanda. They were very professional, kind, fun to work with and matched the vibe of our bridal party. They ensured smooth transitions throughout the evening and always checked in to make sure things were ok. Even when bustling my dress, Amanda ran over with safety pins. The bartenders were excellent as evidenced by the great time my guests were having! The caterer provided by the venue, Diann, was also phenomenal. The quality of the food was out of this world and perfect temperature! If I could get married again, I would choose CIP 100 times over. I am forever grateful that Jeffrey, Howard and Donna allowed Thomas and I the privilege of starting the first day of the rest of our lives here. I can't wait to come back and visit and see our brick. Each time we met with Amanda, she changed what was included in our packages and I constantly had to search through e-mails to find the documentation to support what we were originally told. For example, when we booked the venue for the reception in September 2022, we were told that we could bring in our own appetizers and that 2 variety of seltzers were to be included at no additional charge. Then when we met with Amanda in April 2023, she informed us the appetizers had to be done by a licensed caterer. Thankfully, I had a print out of their website from September 2022 that stated we could bring in our own. Secondly, 3 days before the wedding, I met with Amanda to go over a few last minute questions and asked what seltzers would be served. She informed me that seltzers were not included in our package and would be an additional cost. How frustrating! Once again, I had to go through my e-mails from Amanda which showed they would be included at no additional charge. Finally, they served a different pasta than what was served during the tasting. Oh, don't get me started on the tasting as the bride and groom don't get to determine what entree's they taste as Amanda picks them out based on the most popular items. However, if you want to taste something different, they charge an additional cost. Therefore, buyer beware-if you chose to use Chapel in the Pines for your reception- Document! Document! And Document again as you will most definitely need it. read more

You'd never expect a winter weather advisory on April 27th but they made sure the weather had no effect on the quality of the wedding and reception. The Chapel in the Pines is a difficult one to review. As a recent guest at a wedding there, I had a lot of mixed feelings about the place. In theory, it is a nice place. Very quaint, an adorable chapel, a functional banquet hall, lovely gardens and a really lovely bridal cottage should make for a perfect wedding. However, I do have several issues with the place. 1. When we were setting up, there wasn't enough tables set out. The staff at first tried to argue saying that it was the set up that was reviewed with the bride and groom...not realizing he was speaking to the groom. He eventually did bring out the two extra tables, but it really shouldn't have been such an issue. 2. While the bridal cottage was awesome, they expected it to be empty by 6.15. Considering the wedding ceremony didn't start until 5.30 it was a rush to get it empty in time. The brides friends ended up cleaning out the room in a frantic rush since she and her bridesmaids were taking pictures. 3. In the chapel and somewhat in the banquet hall there were a lot of bad silk flowers. It would have been prettier had the left the space more simple. 4. The staff member that was available throughout the evening was wearing a fleece vest. Seriously? It's a wedding. Wear something better then a fleece vest. Plus, now I am looking at the website today and half of the buttons aren't working correctly. It could be an awesome venue, they just need to step up their game read more

Chapel in the pines if definitely a hidden gem! My husband and I were looking for a venue that was family friendly, had an outdoorsy feel and you didn't have to pay an arm and leg for it. We came across this place and immediately booked it! The staff were all very organized and supportive of what we wanted our reception to be like and made it work. The day went very smoothly with barely any bumps. Since the hall is a bit on the "small" side (150 max) I thought there wouldn't be room since we were planning on 146. WRONG! A lot of space, guests weren't on top of eachother, could get through the isles to the bar, bathroom, buffet etc. I thought that parking would be an issue, WRONG. Everyone had a spot. They set up all of the tables, chairs and linens the day before, so all I had to do was come in and put up my centerpieces and personal touches. The main thing I was worried about was that they had booked a wedding ceremony for that afternoon at 315 when me and my guests would be showing up to the reception hall at 415. As a bride I didn't want to share my space/ time with someone else, and didn't want to see another bride on a day where I should be the only bride there. BUT it wasn't an issue at all. The staff made sure we didn't cross paths for pictures, they were out by 415 because of staffs good planning and it all went well! Thank you so much! We had an amazing day Chapel in the Pines! Attended a wedding recently and everything was adequate, except the food. Two main issues, but ones I tried to work through and the staff failed; Firstly, tables of 8 were given 4 pieces of bread total. Though they served a vat of butter, the staff was 'out' of bread when guests asked if they could provide a piece of bread for each guest. Secondly, the food showed up in a budget rental truck and sat in the parking lot (85+ degrees outside) for well over an hour. Cake wasn't served, it was left out for guests to find and bring back to their tables. But the biggest issue came when they served the meal and I specifically asked for no mushrooms. They asked if it was an allergy and I said, "no, I just really hate mushrooms". They came back to check a second time and we had the same conversation. They said nothing, but returned with a plate of overcooked steak WITH mushrooms. I left and found pizza down the street. Nice enough venue, horrible attention to detail and sub par service. I found this administrator very greedy and obnoxious. I would never reconsider any venue with Chapel in the Pines. It is unfortunate that after I viewed the nice grounds and glossy promotional materials for my event I had to waste time and energy discovering and haggling over what would NOT be done for me. Very upsetting for me to loose a large amount of money upon cancelling (I gave them 12 months to rebook) and did not so much as get a phone call, much less my hefty deposit refunded!! Even if this hadn't happened, for a day as important as my wedding, I would never trust their word. I have found a much much better place to cater for me and serve my guests. I recently attended a wedding there and I have to say the staff has NO CLASS. They walked around looking like they were about to go farm a field. When the bride and groom cut the cake they got some on the floor....due to the traditional shoving it in their faces! Lol anywho.....the staff proceeded to whip out a steam cleaner while we were taking pictures they started cleaning! So the loud obnoxious noise finally stops and they walk away.....only to come back with a huge bucket, cleaning gear and a scrub brush! They were on their hands and knees scrubbing the floor during the reception!! Finally after 20 minutes of scrubbing they returned their gear and left the area. Keep in mind the carpet is NOT in the best of shape as is. Soooo.....after this showing of pure ignorance they decided an hour prior to the time the bride and groom had the hall that it was time to clean up. I went to my table for my drink and it was gone! They took EVERYTHING off our tables AND had the balls to go under the table and take my purse out and put it on the table wide open! They decided it would be a good time to drag out the vaccuum once again and clean the entire reception area! Keep in mind...we had another hour and the dance floor was PACKED! We had NOTHING to drink at this point cuz they took everything away. This place is a joke! BEWARE!! Do NOT have a wedding here! Pay the extra bucks and go to Gaslite Manor! read more

We had a beautiful wedding at Chapel in the Pines a few weeks ago! After searching for a month for a place to have a nice but not over-the-top ceremony and reception, we found CIP and met with Howard, the owner. We loved that the venue already had a lot of charm and didn't require much additional decorating. As a couple, we are not very traditional, and the CIP staff were very respectful of that and were there to answer any questions we had, getting back to us very quickly via email since we are from out of town. They even let us set up the hall the night before because nothing else was scheduled. On the big day, the staff were fantastic! They were definitely there to help, but not overbearing. We highly recommend the photo booth. Our guests had a blast taking silly pictures in addition to the more formal ones by our photographer. Overall it was a perfect day! read more

From the moment we started planning our event over a year ago, to the actual wedding day, Howard, Donna and Jeffery could not have been more warm and caring to the two of us.
