The reserve Cabernet $55 was delicious and very fruit forward just like you would expect from a Paso Robles Cabernet. It was perfectly dry with a robust body. The bar service was empty when we started, but picked up quite a bit as we were finishing up. With 2 bartenders, they did pretty well keeping up and being friendly with everyone. Again, perhaps my review is slightly biased from 12 flights (I should mention that I did not discard any portion of any of the flights...cuz... why?), but I thought all the appetizers we had were great. A huge fan of the octopus and baked clams. We also had the calamari, which was also great... but I'd typically try to steer clear of anything fried. I had the zuppa di mare and it was fabulous. With the food and drinks (not counting the initial flights), the dinner bill was $140 a couple including a decent tip for the server. Not too bad for al the meal and drinks we ended up having. The server was attentive, helpful and personable. The area and building seems magical....a castle like building with ornate painting inside and wonderful ambiance. Staff may want to remember that they can be heard in the dining room from behind the wall that I suppose is blocking off the kitchen; we heard a lot of hollering and swearing at one point. Regarding accessibility, this is an old building and is rather precarious. I use a cane and noted that there is no railing for the steps outside, or the ones inside to get out to the courtyard (my mom mentioned that my dad, who loses his balance due to a medical condition, had also mentioned this on a previous visit). The bathroom I visited was also tiny, literally a water closet. There is also a rather steep slope in the floor from the lobby room to the dining room. If you use a wheelchair, I don't know that this building would be accessible at all from the exterior. I was a little disappointed that no one explained which wine was which, and I was left guessing when I ordered all sweet wines and a couple that looked very similar. When I later wanted to order a glass, I apparently picked the wrong one, but none of them were horrible so that was OK. I also ordered the small charcuterie plate, which was a perfect snack plate. At first, our server told us we only had 30 minutes for the tasting, so we felt a bit rushed. My husband asked again, and another staff member clarified that we actually had more time, which was a relief and allowed us to slow down and enjoy it. They provide breadsticks, and there are snacks available for purchase. I'm really looking forward to going back in the summer to enjoy the outdoor patio, which looks huge.
