the worst place for any minority to patronize. FYI they literally have medicine in the pharmacy that they pick and choose to give it to. my Doctor literally called and inquired if rhe pharmacy had the product in stock. he did. I walked in to the pharmacy a few days later due to the weekend, the tech started the conversation with "we don't hv this in stock." she brought it to the pharmacist (Derrick Chapman) and he advised they don't either. I stated that my doctor called prior to me driving over on this side of town and you stated you did I told him the doctors name and he agreed the product was in stock and he would fill the prescription. he proceed to ask more questions and to advise me that I was wrong I should hv said my Dr. called a few days ago which I was kinda taken bk by in addition to the pharmacy tech and other conversation going on about the prescription. let's just say a lot was going on with the pharmacy and anyone would be shocked by the activity. in no way did I present myself aggressive , rude, or defensive, the pharmacist stated that I rolled my eyes and to "get out and leave immediately due to my attitude and rolling my eyes." I was taken back and shocked at the refusal of service for a pain medication I'd never been on and needed due to a major car wreck. I literally stood shocked because I didn't know what went wrong and I definitely didn't present myself in that manner. to be black and refused service in 2024 from a white man for something that didn't occur (eye rolling or attitude) that I didn't hv nor ever present myself baffles me. you didn't want to fill the prescription to begin with, Derrick Chapman just looked for a reason as a private pharmacy not to do it, irregardless of how bad I needed it. I'm aware of the episode epidemics however I've never needed one or taken one. I understand how some customers may get however I did not. i was just in shock how the pharmacist can refuse and hide drugs that are needed. you could hv clearly looked at my file a saw 100% zero epiode prescriptions in my name. this is the most racist experience I've ever had. but then again it's hapeville. read more

Morning, noon, and night, I crave a lime sour: limes, ice, seltzer. The woman behind the counter slices and squeezes three whole limes into the jumbo styrofoam cup half-full of ice, then tops it off with plain carbonated water from the fountain. As advertised, it will pucker your mouth, but it is so fresh that you'll be tempted to suck on the little green pucks left over from the handheld press. You might question the wisdom of paying over three dollars for something so simple, so if you're not convinced, start with a smaller size. You'll wish you'd gone jumbo to begin with. Lime not your thing? You suck. But that's okay, because what you suck is a malted. A thick milkshake with real malt powder, blended with milk and your choice of ice cream. Sadly, the old fountain glassware is relegated to a display cabinet, along with other fascinating stuff. Sitting behind a pane of glass is an array of formulary bottles, many of which I pray have been emptied and refilled with something else. (Sodium cyanide? Are you freaking kidding me?) And on your way in or out, stoop low to see Underwood typewriters in a progression of incarnations from the 1920s and later. Bring cash. The fountain doesn't take plastic, and you'll be sad indeed if you have to leave Chapman's without a fountain treat. read more

A family owned drugstore since 1921, walking in to Chapman's is like stepping back in time. They've updated the pharmacy and have all the modern drugstore offerings, but they've kept the old time soda counter that used to be common in drugstores. You can get limeades, milkshakes, sodas, or ice cream at the counter. I remember my Dad telling me stories about working at a counter like that when he was in high school. It's pretty cool to see a place that still has one operating like it's the 1950's. read more

As a prescribing dentist, you would not believe what I put up with from the big box pharmacies. I can almost never talk to the pharmacist, and it is almost as if they are looking for an excuse not to fill patients' prescriptions. Hold times on the phone are incredible! I can always promptly talk to pharmacist Derek or Marsha about the proper meds and doses for my patients. My patients receive their prescriptions in 5 minutes max, not 4 hours like some of the big-box stores. How much is your time worth? And if that weren't reason enough to patronize this small family business, you can get a treat from the soda fountain while you are there! read more

I came here with my father while he was in town for lunch. They have a throw back soda fountain and it's wonderful. I had and ice cream and my father had a root beer float. A great place to do business. Derek Chapman and his staff really give you the personal, down-home service everyone deserves. I've know the family all my life, and they are wonderful people. Can you go to CVS, hand them your prescription, and be out of there in under 10 minutes? Does CVS deliver? Does CVS keep an account on their established customers and mail them a bill at the end of the month? Does CVS have the best limeades, lime sours, and milkshakes in the metro area? I think not! The only thing I can say negative about them is their hours. They are not open on Sat. or Sun, and they close at 6:00 on weekdays. If they would extend their hours, they would definitely be the place to go for all your prescription and soda-fountain needs in the south metro area. read more

I came here honestly by accident. Was on my way to lunch at Thai Heaven just a few stores down, needed some chapstick pretty bad and noticed Chapman. Popped in found what I needed and it was definitely convenient, as there aren't very many convenience stores in the area (that i'm aware of). You do need to spend $5 for credit/debit purchases but that's not the end of the world. read more

My mom was disrespected on the phone and in the store! she was treared very rude by the pharmacist! she was treated disrespectful in so amny ways! they feel the need to be mean to people! the are NOT a friendly company! As a mom, I am always in a rush to get my child's prescription so he can feel better asap. At the larger chain pharmacies the wait time is incredible. I have always gotten my prescriptions here within 5 minutes, and the staff are always there to answer questions and make recommendations! They know their stuff!! Plus who can resist a lime sour! I was accused of shoplifting. When I was a new customer, the staff would stare at me during my entire 5 minutes looking for my item(s) to purchase. I thought it was because I was younger than most of their elderly customers. It couldn't have been because I was a minority, because so were the employees, and the one who accused me was a young Asian -American woman. The older men who seem to own the place are very respectful and polite. The location was close to me, and much cheaper than gas station prices for cold medicines I badly needed during the winter. These were the reasons I tolerated the strange stares, until I was accused of shoplifting. I asked an employee for an item near the front desk, and the employee helped me, then continued to stare as I walked to the other side of the store. She ran after me telling me to pay! I explained I was not stealing, I was not done shopping! I felt so upset I left the item on a stand and told her I changed my mind and I have never been back. It has been about 8 months to a year, and I still drive further and to more expensive places to avoid being treated so unfairly. read more
