I've been here many times but my last was over 17yrs ago! I just rode again for the first time in…read more17yrs, for my birthday and it was nice. They even sang me happy birthday, which was really special. It was an easy trial and honestly, I prefer the trail we did years ago. We went like on the side of a cliff kinda and we could see the stream down below. This trial was just mostly through the woods. Still nice tho. I'm coming back with my nephew. The stable is run by Nicki & Gina. There are additionally tour guides and other volunteers. The ride is now $60 for the 1hr ride. Please call and leave a message to schedule. Give your age, weight (there's a 250lbs capacity & they will weigh you) & riding experience. Beginners are welcome as they give you a tutorial on how to handle & guide the horses. They will call you back to confirm the dates of availability and follow-up via email. Come dressed in pants and closed toe shoes. On the day of your ride.. plan show up 45 mins early. So if your ride is at 12noon, be there by 11:15am at the latest. They don't play about check-in. They will turn you away if you are even a minute late. They only accept cash, there's no ATM. So, please come prepared. Also... when coming up the drive. Go 5mi per hr. Not 10, literally 5mph. They will yell and turn you away if you go faster. They have free roaming animals and the drive is uneven/rocky. Bring water, Your ID & your insurance card for paperwork. You will not be allowed to bring anything on the trial but sunglasses. That includes keys, money, cell phone, water bottle, etc. A guide will take pics during the ride and forward to you after. If you adhere to these rules you'll have a great time. But be mindful, the ladies are STRICT!!

I came to LBF feeling intimidated because, although I've grown up riding Western, I'd never ridden English nor tacked a horse, even though I worked at a horse farm during college. LBF insists you tack your horse, get him or her out of the paddock, etc. It's a real experience that teaches you to respect the animals, the sport and joy of riding. Britton is awesome to work with; she's kind and patient but doesn't let you off the hook. She expertly manages to keep your self esteem afloat while forcing you to improve. The farm is a surprise--it sits at the end of a nicer housing development and you'd never know it was there unless you were looking for it. Mark, the owner, is very cool and laid back, trusting of his riders and instructors. There is one arena, there is no indoor riding. It's not the fanciest of farms but that's just perfect for a novice like me who is already feeling a bit unsure. The last thing I need is a group of prisses casting sideways looks my way because I'm unschooled in picking hooves. I highly recommend this farm and Britton in particular. It's a great addition to your life. While it's a bit expensive, compared to other riding clubs and farms it's a steal.

After a bit of outrage by all he changed his original increase from doubling prices to a $50 a month increase. I still have nothing but respect for the staff there and think it is a great place to learn to ride. As my daughter is getting more skilled, we have moved to an indoor arenas where she can jump snow or sun.

The cats, rabbits, and chickens keep things fun if you ever get tired of looking at horses (as if!)
