On the way to pick up our puppy we stopped in this small town and found this coffee shop. It was in this really cute house and decorated really nice. Really great and I recommend stopping by to pick up a coffee and a breakfast sandwich. I swear everyone that walked in new the workers so I'm guessing it's a really really small town. What a find! Don't believe any reviews with fewer than 5 stars. In fact, you ought to question those reviews. Upon arriving (plenty of street parking & a lot) you'll enter an adorable old house flanked by a few outside tables and chairs (don't sit under the sappy trees). You'll be greeted by a gaggle of girls that will delightfully chat you up and tell you about their extensive list of offerings. Grab your goods and pick a room to sit in depending on your needs and wants: working, reading, visiting, or playing one of the cute old games. Our coffees were good, my bad for not asking for "less sweet" (less of the syrup), I had the weekly special latte- maple & marshmallow. Cute setting, but the coffee left something to be desired. To begin, this could be from my own stupidity, but there was a sign for this coffee "house" right outside an old house on the Main Street of New Concord. Well me thinking "cool, a coffee house in and actual old house," I attempted to walk in the front door. Well...turns out the house with the sign out front is actually vacant and locked up and the actually coffee shop is a little walk behind the old home. So that could have been all my own fault as other people seemed to know where this place was when I walked in and buy was it packed. Packed so much that people were lined up right next to each other during a peak time of Covid infections in the state. I get it's a small building and it's hard to tell people to separate more, but if I wasn't at the back of the line where I could keep space from the person in front of me, I would have left. I ordered the Chai-der and by the time I finally got it 20 minutes later, I wish I had never actually found the real shop. My drink was lukewarm and didn't have a sting taste at all. There was also no apology or explanation as to why it took 20 minutes to get it. I understand if you're busy, and I don't like to complain, but that's a long time to wait for a drink with no update. I also used the Yelp deal where new customers get $1 off if you check in. I think my barista used the deal for me, but I got no acknowledgement as to whether is was taken off the bill and was offered no receipt so honestly, who knows? All in all, if I were going to sit inside and relax during a non-covid time this would be a super cool place to relax in. When I was looking for a quick, hot, pick-me-up, this place left something to be desired. read more

I was born in Ohio & all my family lives here, with my grandma only about 10 minutes from this coffee house. I have lived in Baltimore for 15 years and I've been spoiled with easy access to coffee shops, cafes, etc & every time I came to Ohio to visit grandma.... I always wanted a cafe to visit. Her response was always that there was none around here. But, I'm so happy that Chapman's is here now! I came for the first time about a year ago, sat with my grandma and it was just such a cute atmosphere with great coffee and pastries. Cool coffee shop with a lot of potential! I love searching for a little coffee shops during my travels and always hope to find the perfect latte. This coffee shop had such a cool vibe, but the baristas haven't been trained on how to make a real latte. The milk had no texture, was not close to 70°, and had tons of froth. On top of that, the young girl working just dumped the milk onto the espresso with no attempt to save the crema or try any latte art. This little shop will keep customers because they have quality beans and a cool vibe, but they need to train their staff if they want to be anything more than average. read more

Great little place tucked away off the main drag. At first we thought it was closed- the house out front is being renovated- but follow the signs and go around to a nice cottage out back. Very cool inside, great to relax and work or study. Friendly staff. Decent selection of drinks. I got a smoothie, which was big, and refreshing, though not all that flavorful. Still enjoyed it, and it stayed frozen in the heat outside. Sweetie got, I think, Sweet Perk (vanilla, cinnamon, caramel) hot coffee, and loved it. Prices are reasonable, and I bet this is packed with students most of the time. read more

I was visiting family in Southeast Ohio and was searching for a local cafe and Chapman's Coffee House was a recommendation from my iPhone. It's charming and cozy. It has great tables for eating or working on your computer and even a printer on location. Also, the staff is super friendly and knowledgable. I'm so glad I stopped in!! I even went back the next day - It was an absolute treat! It's slightly hidden off the street, which makes it a little tricky to find, but is also great because it's tucked in for that sweet sense of peace. So here is my problem. I actually like Chapman's. I've been there several times and have always had a pretty good experience however, I do want to address a problem I faced recently when going there. I have celiac disease-which is an autoimmune disorder. Basically, if I eat anything that contains gluten or has touched anything that contains gluten my body attacks itself. Some people who have this disorder can have very severe reactions and I'm lucky enough that I am asymptomatic so what happened was dangerous and upsetting but I didn't puke or have any other severe reaction other than my immune system attacking me internally. Regardless, it's a serious thing and it should be taken seriously. I asked for a Raspberry Lemon Gluten-Free muffin a couple of days ago. I don't know if I wasn't clear enough or not but when they brought out my muffin with my latte what I got was a blueberry muffin. I assumed that they wouldn't just give someone who asked for something to be gluten-free something with gluten in it. So I figured they may've just gotten the order slightly wrong. But when I took a bite, it was immediately clear that it was not gluten-free. I quickly got up and approached the man working that day and pointed out that I asked for something gluten-free but got something else and that I already took a bite out of it not realizing. He basically told me that I could throw it away or give it to someone else. So I went back to my table thinking I might get a gluten-free muffin and waited for a bit but then realized I wasn't going to have that happen. I was a bit disappointed and honestly greatly upset. I went through most of the day feeling ill and under the weather as a result of that tiny bite, if I had been anyone else I might've been worse off, but that doesn't excuse the carelessness of this whole thing and that fact that I didn't get what I ordered. I didn't get anything that I could eat. I wasn't reciprocated for the money I spent on that muffin. I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon as a result. I hope anyone who has celiac disease or a serious allergy gets better service and treatment than I got while there. read more

Great coffee and scones! I'd say it's better than Starbucks, and I've heard the same from my fellow Muskies. It has a great, cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. I love having a nice coffeehouse to go to since Muskingum county is seriously lacking in that area. I've been going here since it was the Crumb and Cup, and the new owners have changed a lot for the better in the year they've owned it. The hours have been extended, more food options, and I love the drink of the week; my friends and I meet here every Friday and the staff recognise us! It's a nice feeling. read more

I was here about a year ago and left unimpressed by the service and the food was just ok (while I work in the service industry and understand what it's like working with customers all day, the two ladies who were working acted very bitter towards everything and could not have been more unpleasant). however, at the urging of my girlfriend, we came here again today and I was totally impressed! Very cool place. Made me feel like I was in an episode of "Friends" or something like that haha. After talking to the owner (who is very active in the shop's operations) I came to find they just recently purchased this coffee shop and have a new crew of folks - makes sense.
