I remember running and walking here. It's close to my parent's house. It looks pretty much the same but... they remodeled the pool and recreation center in recent years. They also added the splash pad. I brought my son to it pretty often. Unfortunately, I think parts of the park were or are closed at this time due to Covid-19. I know the recreation center is open because I came to vote here the other day. I was the only person that went to vote at that time. Not much else to say about this park...Well it was named after the singer that sang "El Paso." The song won a Grammy back in 1959. I read a ton of reviews prior to my visit so I knew what to expect coming in. This isn't six flags,…read moreso don't go in with that mindset and I think if you do you'll enjoy your visit. Several people told me it's like a permanent fair and I would agree with that. We got there right at 5 o clock on a Saturday night and stayed for about 4 hours total. We rode everything with the exception of a few rides that were down or just didn't catch our interest, all had minimal wait times. My favorite was the ski lift type ride, we went on it twice...I recommend going right at sunset for beautiful views! We had several snacks, pretzel, churros and lemonade and we thought they were all very tasty and well priced. I really enjoyed my time there and a lot of the rides made me feel very nostalgic (Himalaya for example was always my county fair favorite!) overall my little family had a blast and I would recommend going!

Active Duty Soldiers are free $2 for 13 and over $1 for 12 and under, that's including babies and infants $1 for seniors 55 and over $3 for guests It's not necessarily open to the public, military members and their dependents can bring in guest but can only bring in 2 per military ID, as long as the person signing them in is 18 years and older. Make sure you always have your Military ID with you. You can pay with Cash or Card. Make sure to bring your own locks and towels.

The water was a little on the warmer side and there were three lifeguards on duty. This pool offers a huge rock climbing rock you can throw yourself off from and it had a basketball hoop.. It also has a toddler area and a regular swimming area. We decided to try the other pool out. This pool has three sections. One being the diving board area, where there are two small diving boards and one big one you can jump from. The middle section has lanes, and you can only be here if your going to actually be swimming the lanes. The last pool section, is the section that can be used to play around in and or if you have kids that just want to swim in an open area. This pool was COLD. Really cold.. Being a dependent I paid two dollars to get in. Kids 12 and younger pay $1 and 12 and older pay $2. Every Monday and Wednesday they close from 1 to 3:30 for soldiers use.

It's really a huge park, and only about a block away from Biggs Shoppette on the corner of Sgt Major BLVD and Luke. So you can grab whatever snacks forgot. Parking plentiful, but the bigger the event the further you'll have to park and walk lol. Normal stuff though for a Army instillation. This is a park that hosts many events. Gun shows, parties, the most recent "Pop Goes the Fort" 4th of July celebration. It's quite popular for large events do to its size etc. I like it. Straight down Sgt Maj, directly across from USASMA (the academy). If you're coming from east bliss and you hit the Biggs shoppette at the Luke intersection... You went about a block to far. Coming from main post or otherwise, Sgt Maj road opened up to 3 lanes... You went a tad to far. Check ft bliss mwr FB page for upcoming events held here at the park. There's always something going on... If not, just come let the kids run around or come get some exercise in on the basketball court. Das it Mayne

I normally get around on my EV (aka my eBikeKit-assisted CruzBike), but it was out of commission most of February/early March 2023, so my backup plan was to continue exercise via my much better half's upright (Specialized Windrock), cycling to/from this marvelous facility. The hours are extremely convenient, the cost minimal (especially if you buy a month- long pass), but the best part are the personnel. Manager Victor and the lifeguards (particularly Karen & Christian) are very attentive (I always feel safe, especially when doing my Lao in the water), friendly and professional. Fellow swimmers are likewise friendly , and there is an excellent lift system to accommodate wheelchair users. I really like and appreciate the numerous grab bars, especially in the showers. When cycling from Hawkins Pool, I found myself in need of an energy boost, which is "Untapped Maple Waffles", which I've purchased both from Crazy Cat Cyclery (North Stanton & Baltimore) and online. El Paso is extremely fortunate to have such an excellent facility with extremely competent individuals in charge; definitely, my coveted "iWheel of Approval!" goes here!

The pool offers basic amenities and basic " meh " changing rooms. The aquatic center also contains a small pool for children, a large slide, as well as two children's slides. The aquatic center also has an enclosed picnic area with BBQ grills which are shaded by tents as well as having two regulation sized volleyball courts, one sand and one grass. The area is available to the public as well as for party rentals. The pool is suitable for competitive swim events and is centrally located within the park which makes it an attractive facility to schedule and host events.
