I have lived at the Bluffs for years. First with my sister when we lived in the three bedroom…read moreapartment and now with my own family living in a 2 bed room. I can tell you a few things about these apartments. First, they're over priced for the space you're getting access to, especially the kitchen which even in the 3 bedroom apartments are ridiculously small and can't have more than one person in them at a time. Very little counter space to prepare meals on which really irritates me every time I have to cook a meal in it. I am currently paying over $700 a month for an apartment with about 700 sqft in it. The 'master' bedroom can barely fit a king sized mattress. Additionally, the layout of the two bed room apartment we live in is very strange. The living room is skinny rectangle with barely enough room to set a couch across from a TV with a fireplace shoved into the corner of the room. Why are there so many fireplaces in TX? It only gets down to 30 degrees in this state in the winter! That space could have been used for something else like a pantry in the kitchen which the 2 bedrooms lack or God forbid more counter space to use to prepare meals on.. There are other issues as well. Such as leasing rules not being enforced on a regular basis without a complaint and the pool being too small and a mess most of the time (leaves, seed pods, dirt...I even found a used condom in the pool once). I stopped going to the pool with my family because it is too small for the amount of people trying to use it. Lastly, the pet policy is ridiculous. Not only do you pay $500 for the first pet, you pay an additional $250 for additional animals. This is expensive and I used to live in Maryland/D.C. which has the highest cost of living in the country. There are some good things. The maintenance staff is responsive to problems, even at night when they're normally off work and the office staff is polite and help you out. The management itself needs work and the pricing of the apartments need to be looked at and adjusted more for this area.

Thank God I had great insurance at the time because I was in and out of the hospital so many times getting examined for illnesses without any resolution, before I discovered it was mold poisoning. I tested the apartment with two different test kits and both came back with black mold, we later discovered it was under the floorboards and in the walls after we felt them moving with applied pressure. It was so bad that me and my partner were both throwing up blood from coughing so hard and so frequently, and i even broke my rib from the force of coughing. We both still have a small residual cough and fatigue all these months later. The manager is never there, and is unbelievably condescending and callous, and she will try to avoid helping or even speaking to tenants at all costs. Even if you keep to yourself and pay everything on time every month she will still treat you like garbage. The maintenance team is extremely incompetent and slow, I would wait a week for something to get fixed, just to have it malfunction again a few days later. There is also no real visitor parking and tow trucks frequently patrolling through the area. I had two friends cars towed even though they were parking in visitors spots. They even towed my car for parking in a vacant spot next to my friends apartment, even though I had the parking pass. My friends mom parked next to her helping her move in and they had her hooked up on the truck before she could come back outside to grab more things. There is also an insane amount of bugs around the apartment, and the staff does very little to remedy this issue. I kept most of them out of my unit by keeping everything extremely clean, tightly sealed, and using various bug repellents, but they still got in on occasion even with drastic measures taken. I would recommend just paying a little more for a nicer place, it will save you lots of money in the long run.

The window ledge in the apartments weren't clean, they had the nerve of charging me 25.00 for a trash bag full of stuff which more then likely was the window ledge that I didn't touch. Then they charged me 150.00 for cleaning when I literally cleaned that place better then the conditions I moved in. Managment is never on premise and unresponsive really until it benefits them! And don't lie to me and say that if I move out early that you'll work on getting me some of my rent back, I moved out the 15th! I'm sure they moved someone in prior to my full months rent I paid !!!
