Chappy's, located in the Puerto Vallarta Marina, is a classic sports bar with great views of the ships and boats. Chappy's has eclectic sports and pop culture signs, symbols, and flags throughout the interior. On our visit on a Thursday afternoon, Chappy's was 1/4 full with what appeared to be locals, expats, and tourists. If you're a fan of 1970's classic rock music, this place is for you. The owner was also in attendance. Regarding food and drinks, we ordered the chicken wings and a couple of beers. The chicken wings were fine, and the beers were cold. What we really appreciated was the service. Both servers were really friendly and attentive. I would return to Chappy's to hangout for a couple hours when touring the marina again. read more

We had the most unforgettable experience at Chappy's in the Puerto Vallarta marina! After a deep-sea fishing trip, we brought in three different kinds of fresh fish, and they worked absolute magic with it. They prepared an incredible spread--grilled fish, fish tacos, and fish & chips--all perfectly cooked, bursting with flavor, and beautifully balanced with rice, veggies, and fries. Pretty decent bar food - tacos are made with flour tortillas not corn and a decent entree portion. Calamari rings are standard served with ranch. 1/2 pound of steamed shrimp was the standout. Really fresh shrimp cooked just right amount of time - meat texture is crunchy and sweet, served with 2 types of spicy cocktail sauce. Order to go took about 20 min. I would not recommend eating here, maybe if you are just having drinks it would be fine. We made the mistake thinking if some of the locals hung out there and the place was packed it must be fine. I am hoping as I write this that it is not a grave mistake on our part. We almost walked away because the food was taking so long (at least 45 minutes to an hour from the time we ordered) and we should have. Our food came and the shrimp taco was cold and the shrimp was cooked rubbery. The fish taco was warm but the tortillas were soggy. The Service was terrible. The bar was obnoxiously loud and people were smoking so it was unpleasant for us non-smokers. The restrooms are a little scary and had a bad urine smell. So much for trying to experience what we thought was going to be a fun and local dive bar. read more

Good food and service. Beers were cold. Smoking in the bar, so if that's a deal breaker, just be prepared. It might have been the day but there was a typical Mexico smell drifting in and out (if you know what I mean). The food was reasonably priced. The avocado stuffed with shrimp ceviche was fantastic! My husband was a happy camper to find a sports bar that played American football on the tv. Food was pretty good, mostly American. Beers were cold and cheap. Scenery fantastic as always being right in the marina! If you're looking for a place to watch a game while on vacation, this is the spot. read more

Awesome spot to catch Monday night American football when you are in Puerto Vallarta. Beers are super cheap. We drank during all the Detroit Lions game and split potato skins and a calzone. Both we way above expectations for a sports bar in the marina. Was shocked when the bill came and it was only $30 USD. What a bargain! This would of been well over $80 at a bar back home. The staff was super friendly and the place was decently busy yet service was quick and the food came out hot and fast. Will probably be back here again before the week is over. read more

We came here (it was walking distance from our hotel, Marriott Casa Magna) after a day of fishing and brought our catch (Dorado) that they cooked 3 ways; ceviche, tacos and broiled. Service was fantastic and quick, and the Dorado was cooked perfectly, accompanied by great sides and accompaniments. The price for them to cook our catch and provide the sides was very, very reasonable. We preceded the meal with the requisite shots of Hornos Reposado, followed by a couple glasses of wonderful house Chardonnay to go with the meal. It was a little loud (but it is a sports bar after all), and be sure and sit under a fan if you tend to overheat, but the food, drink and service quality more than made up for it. Stop into this great little place if you get a chance! read more

We went here for a spur Of the moment lunch. We arrived just about noonish. The bar was full and they had 4 servers working the main floor area. We ordered a bucket of beer which came quickly. It took 11 min from the time we sat down to the time the beer came out and then the took our order. Then time stood still. We waited and waited. We finished our bucket of beer. (there were 4 of us drinking and 1 child). We weren't going to order a second bucket but we did and finished almost all the beer from that one and lunch still had not shown up. Finally about 35-40 min after we sat down did they bring the food. We had 2 orders of fish and chips and they were totally amazing. Great batter and crispy. The fries were also delicious. I ordered the 3 steak tacos and my husband had the quesadilla which was the exact same as the tacos although the review from the person who ate it said they were amazing and would order them again!! The other person had nachos and was very happy with them. He liked the way the steak was cut into small tiny pieces. The chips stayed crisp through the whole meal. Oh and the retried beans were some of the best we've had. read more

It is located in Marina Vallarta and they have both indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating goes quickly so you'll want to get there a little early if you want to snag a table or seat at the bar. My husband and I have only had wings and french fries here and would definitely suggested them to others. The buffalo sauce and the wings were cooked perfectly. The table next to us had burgers and said they were very good. This is a great game day spot and if you stick to game day fair you'll be happy! read more

Came here to enjoy the first round of NFL games for the season kick off for Sunday football. The location is great, right in the middle of the marina. There are tons of fans to keep patrons cool while enjoying the six flat screen TV's spread throughout the bar. They had 3 games playing so that all us pigskin fans could satisfy our football fix while sipping beers. They boasted free Wi-Fi throughout the restaurant but unfortunately my boyfriend and I both had issues connecting to their account. They had a cheap beer special for a bucket of Coronas or Pacificos for $120 pesos. We took advantage and had 2 buckets.The food was decent but nothing to boast about, the wings were very small in size but tasty and the chili cheese fries were just ok. The food did it's job. The service was good and the waiters were very attentive. If you are here looking to check out your favorite sports team live and have a few beers, then Chappy's will be sufficient. I probably wouldn't come here just to eat. The food is not horrible but they are to many other great restaurants in the Marina to waste your pesos here. read more

Chewy manned the bar and was on top of his customers, many of whom were regulars! Well you get 5 stars for having the football game on and the chicken wings were fantastic, the onion rings were great, but the cheese burger well was very poor. I'm not sure how it went wrong. Hand made patty fresh tomatoes, onions and lettuce and a ok bun. It was just flavorless. I couldn't even eat the whole thing. All 4 of us had burgers and fries and all of thought the same thing just not a good burger. The waitress was decent we ate inside to avoid all the cigarette smoke maybe that was why the service was just ok. When in Mexico next time and need to watch the game I will go back but I won't order the burger. read more

Stopped in for Sunday Football. We could not get the Fox Network among other channels for sports in our hotel. This is the place to go to view Sunday football. The staff was friendly, the crowd is high energy and the drinks specials are on all day. The restaurant is divided by seating inside and outside. I cannot comment on the food. My son loved the Pizza. My other sons gave the wings an 8. I thought everything was just alright. I enjoyed the shrimp cocktail with no tails to worry about, but my pasta still had tails on the shrimp? Annoying. It's slow season, and the staff acted like it. Sometimes it's the small things. My first visit to Chappy's was to meet my Cousins who had left and forgot about me, I ordered a Margarita and sat at the Bar waiting for them to come back. The Bar Tender was very friendly and did not want me sitting on my own so he introduced me to another Scottish Woman, Margaret from Fife and invited me to join her party, well it would be have been rude not to and I had a second Margarita. My Cousins remembered me and came back for me. Second visit was with my Cousins again and two of us had Margaritas and the others shared a bucket of beer, five bottles of Corona and a bucket of ice. We ordered Nachos and a Pizza to share, the portions were very generous and tasty. The atmosphere in the Bar is always buzzing and very welcoming and the location at the edgeof the Marina is a great spot for people watching or for the Market on a Thursday . read more

The main bartender is incredibly friendly and knows a lot about what's going on in the sports world stateside. He's just a great guy. Had good advice on places to check out while we were there, too. The drinks were strong, but good and priced fairly. Mostly I just recommend this place for the atmosphere. Everyone is friendly. I laughed and joked like I was amongst friends. Don't bother ordering their hamburger. Ewww! No flavor and they used a white -- non cheddar cheese on their burger. The burger was so bland, even adding ketchup, salt and pepper didn't help season the burger up. I do have to say my French fries were delish, however. My brother-in-law comes down to PV on occasion and knows this joint airs the Seahawks games in his establishment. The outside portion of the bar has hi-def but the inside portion doesn't have high def. we bounced around a couple of times trying to find a good spot the four of us could comfortably watch the game. The outside area has a bunch of cigarette smokers so we opted to move into the non high dec area to watch the game. Hubs ordered some bbq wings as an appetizer and thought they were great. While watching the game I was unpleasantly surprised when one of the men working at the establishment opened one of the to-go orders and decided to sample the meal, by taking a piece of what looked like chicken meat out eating it. Then he put the meal in its plastic bag and off he went. Gross!!! Service for us was less than stellar as well, like I mentioned we weren't in the main area and we seemed to be after thoughts for the wait staff, even though they had to walk right by us to go to the kitchen and the back bar for supplies. They servers were nice abs friendly just not attentive. While we were grateful to have a place to watch the Seahawks game, that meal is one that I will remember for reasons other than being stellar. We visited Chappy's after wanting to try something other than mexican food. Unfortunately this place failed. Great location, and good bar set up but the service was subpar and food was ok. We ordered pizza and wings. It took a long time for the food to come out and we were with our kids and it was hot and humid with no A/C. Prices are reasonable but quality was not there. Other great options in the Marina. I could see this being great for Sunday football or a sporting event to get drinks and appetizers, but for a meal I would try other spots. read more
