We have been coming to El Barracuda since its very first week it was open years and years ago. One thing that has not changed in that time is the taste and quality of the food. To start out with drinks, I love the blackberry cocktail (non alcoholic) and it's alcoholic variant is great enjoyed by my family. They are very unique and tasty and feature a lot of real blackberry in the drinks. I highly reccomend trying these out. We ordered the red snapper, the grilled octopus, and my favorite meal I look forward to every trip, the molcajete. The snapper is usually a staple and safe seafood choice, packed with plenty of flavor. Though I myself do not like octopus, my mom amd sister always order this and have said it is a very tasty peice of seafood that they order everytime. My favorite is the molcajete, a traditional Mexican dish served in a version of a mortar (see my picture accompanying this review). It is a thick seafood "stew" served with stripes of marinated steak and seafood. You eat it in the tortilla it is served in and it easily feeds 2 people (3 if you are all light eaters). It is so tasty and so unique and one of the few restaurants I go to twice during a trip for this dish alone. I highly highly reccomend this place!! The service is always fast and friendly and there is plenty of seating usually. Tips: If you get bitten by mosquitos and didnt pack any mosquito spray, ask your server for some. They always have. Also, this place does accept credit card!

Delicious seafood and great service. I really enjoyed the delicious grilled whole snapper with butter and garlic. I went with a group of 6 and everyone enjoyed the food and being able to dine outside in January. Negra modelo available as well plus the sangria was good too. No reservations accepted and cash only so be prepared . Enjoy
Based on the Yelp community, we decided to try this restaurant, as it was an easy walk from our hotel. We wanted more local establishments than the hotel food we have been having. We went for dinner, and the restaurant had a good vibe. It is open to the outside, giving a nice outdoor dining experience. There was live music playing, and the musicians were good. We went on a Friday night and had a short wait for a table. However, later on in the night, the whole restaurant was packed, so I would recommend going early. The food was hit-and-miss. The red snapper and the mussels were fantastic. However, the shrimp burger was not that good. The service was good; the server was attentive, and the food came out fast. I would return and try out their other dishes.
This is always a stop for us when visiting Nuevo Vallarta. My wife and I stopped in for dinner. Started with guacamole and chips - so so good. Perfectly seasoned. My wife had the shrimp Maliajetes (which she always gets) and I had the La Burra Cuda , which was a burrito filled with mushroom, shrimp and other good stuff. Both were delicious. We always like this restaurant, as the service staff are so much fun, and yet attentive. Finished with banana ice cream and chocolate cake, YUM. It's always a pleasure to return.
Our party of four walked up to El Barracuda on Christmas Day 2023 and asked if they could accommodate our group... and yes, they sure did! Sammy was our waiter and he took great care of us. We started with a round of drinks including a skinny cucumber margarita for me which was delicious and went down easy after a long day on the beach. We shared the grilled octopus entree as an appetizer along with some fresh guac, salsa and chips. Entrees at the table included the grilled fish, a seafood molcajete, seafood soup, and coconut shrimp. All of us were pleased with our respective orders. For dessert, we had popsicles. Fun vibe, outdoor seating, speedy service (especially for Mexico and on a holiday). We will be back!
I visited El Barracuda on Sunday, 1/22/23, during dinner time. Food: The restaurant served complimentary chips, salsas, and limes. All of the salsas were decent. For the appetizer, I ordered the Shrimp Ceviche, which came with tostadas. The ceviche was absolutely tasty. For the entree, I got Shrimp Enchiladas with rice. The entire plate was delicious! The enchilada sauce was flavorful. Overall, El Barracuda did not disappoint with the food. I recommend coming here.
So glad we came here. The food, service, and ambiance was just what we were looking for. The best Mexican food we found while on vacation. They also have IPA beer which made it an easy choice. I ordered three different margaritas. The watermelon, strawberry, and tamarind. All with fresh fruit and real refreshing. My husband ordered the Piedra Lisa IPA beer which was good, too. He also bought extra to take back to the resort. The Vidanta resort has no IPA beer. For lunch we ordered the shrimp ceviche as the app which was delicious. Big enough to share for 2 people. We also ordered the Al pastor shrimp tacos and Baja style fish tacos. We shared them. Both were a hit. We would definitely order these two options again. We came back for dinner that same day. Ordered the special shrimp enchiladas which were delicious. I would definitely order again. My husband ordered the ribeye with coconut shrimp. The steak was cooked perfectly and the coconut shrimp was good too. Only issue is they did not have steak sauce but that's ok. It was all still good. We finished with a chocolate cake that came with a side of ice cream and also ordered a shot or Kahlúa mixed w/tequila. The perfect ending to our day. The service was excellent. Very friendly and attentive. The mariachi band was playing. We will definitely come here again.
I've been to El Barracuda twice and I can for sure say I see a third time in my future. Not only are the food and drinks delicious, but the ambiance is on point as well. El Barracuda is located next to an open field area where you can see many wild birds and iguanas while you eat. The service was friendly and quick. I highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area and looking for a good place to eat. read more

Very cool place, all outdoors. Great service just be prepared to pay in cash in case the place is feeling like it. There will not be a sign outside warning you you'll need cash. The food was the best in that area and one of the best for our 2 week trip. I don't think they take reservations because everyone in line was waiting - first come first serve style. We were a small group so the wait was less than 30 min but a group of 10 waited an hour. If that's you, just head to the bar or grab a drink from OXXO (711) next door while you wait. It's worth it! read more
Luckily, we got here before the crowd on a Sunday night. Our friends know a lot of the staff, so we got to meet lots of friendly and smiling people. The service was excellent and so was the food, the ambiance is casual, open air Mexico. Comfortable and casual, We had pina coladas (yum), chips and several salsas, the grilled zucchini (highly recommend) to barracuda specials (mahi filet, veggies and shrimp cooked in foil and steaming when opened) and two molcajete dishes with shrimp and steak (excellent). Friends took us here. The ceviche and guacamole was tasty with their house made buñuelos. Their tasty fruit margaritas were way too small honestly..mostly ice. Maybe 4oz total and felt like the alcohol pour was about an ounce. Or, I'm a lush with high tolerance. Fish tacos were bland and topped with pickled cabbage and cilantro. The whole fish was good but not very hot when it arrived. Service was nice. It's more like an expat kind of place than an authentic Mexican seafood restaurant really. Fun vibe and it felt like I was in South Florida or The Keys more than Mexico respectfully. read more

Probably the best over all restaurant we went to while in Mexico! Great service, amazing food and really great prices. The dining area is both inside and out. We had a large group and they easily sat us outside. It was so much fun sitting there watching their employee making tortillas. We started the evening with cocktails and I can tell you the margaritas were delicious. We all ordered the Molcajetes some of us got the mix beef and shrimp and some got the seafood. I highly recommend ordering these and going to one of their restaurants when visiting Mexico! read more

YES!!! The hype is real... We arrived looking for fresh seafood for my husband and discovered delicious appetizers and drinks along the way. If you like margaritas you MUST try the margarita de sandia which is a watermelon margarita. DELICIOUS!!! Their chips and salsa variety is just fantastic. We ordered the fresh made Guacamole and it was almost as good as the one my husband makes at home definitely a competitor. I ordered a coctel de camaron and I can't saying was great, but they tried. I need to point out that it isn't on the menu but the cooks made it happen to meet my craving for it. My hubby ordered ceviche and he enjoyed it... I think he ordered two different kinds of ceviches... one was the Barracuda ceviche which he said was great. I recommend this place! read more

I was actually surprised by the food here. I was worried this might be a pricey tourist trap, but I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty the food was. The mushroom soup was nothing like what I was expecting. It was so layered with yummy garlicky flavor and herbs and so many mushrooms! I was really impressed with this simple little soup. The poke was different from the poke I'm used to-this was more acidic and had more liquid, but still quite good. I've never eaten poke with tostadas before, but it's kinda perfect! I finished my meal with flan and that was also surprising! It was dense and ultra rich. The kind of rich that sticks to the roof of your mouth. read more

After days of resort food, my bf and were itching to try some local food. We looked on yelp/google and found El Barracuda within walking distance. So, off we went! My first impression of the restaurant was "creative". They used various items to construct the atmosphere, such as plastic cutting boards as table tops, and orange construction wrap for lampshades. The materials were so out of ordinary, it kept you eyes busy! We got seated right away and placed our order with our friendly server. I got 3 Baja style fish tacos and my bf got the lobster/shrimp roll. Both were so delicious! I was craving some deep fried fish tacos, and these did not disappoint with the crunchy breading and tender fish. My bf's roll was excellent as well. I had a bite and it was full of chunky lobster/shrimp bits with a savory creamy sauce. The other item that blew my mind, was the mango smoothie with coconut cream. I was offered the option and loved it! The server said the owner just created the concoction and it's not on the menu yet! If you love mango and coconut, I'd highly recommend it!! We came here because we heard the magician was entertaining. They sat us on the patio and we asked if the magician came down there. our waiter said, of course! I told the waiter, my friend didn't care for the mahi mahi, so what did he recommend -the red Snapper, octopus, or the barracuda.'? He said the barracuda was the best so I ordered it, and it turns out it was a mahi-mahi! Very deceitful. the magician never came. When I asked, they said oh, he went to a different restaurant. Felt scammed. Food mediocre. read more
We snuck out of our resort to come and try the Al Pastor shrimp tacos....... WOW!!! It was such a fun environment and the food was legit. We got the pastor shrimp tacos and the coconut shrimp. I can say I liked one more than the other and I would definitely recommend both! The flavor was on point and the mango salsa with the coconut shrimp was on point. We ended it with some flan and can say without a shadow of a doubt, THIS PLACE IS LEGIT!! read more
BEST TACOS in PV! Highly recommend!! This place only accepts cash, but you can pay in pesos or US dollars. If paying in US dollars make sure to ask for exchange rate so you calculate your bill correctly. It is right on the beach and on the second floor it is very cool because there is always a breeze. This place has the best tacos! The octopus tacos are delicious, the octopus is cooked perfect. The smoked marlin tacos are filled with tons of marlin and it so delicious. The beef tacos are so tender. You get chips with different hot sauces and pickled onions. If you like spicy ask for the habanero sauce. It is so spicy, but so delicious! All taco ordered are 3 tacos so you have plenty of food. The octopus chicharrones are INCREDIBLE! The octopus is lightly breaded and then fried. It is served with guacamole. Make your own delicious tacos. This is my favorite place in PV. Great food, good prices, great service. Staff: all super friendly, if your Spanish is limited, no worries, everyone speaks English too. Attentive staff that always checks on you. Bathrooms: clean Extra: Great WIFI at this location for guests only. Just ask for the password. read more
