    Octopus
    Rachel M.

My friend and I stopped in for some cooked seafood. We ordered the grilled octopus, it was amazing. We also ordered a seafood mix stew. It also was very good. The rice that was served with both dishes was soft and flavorful. The vegetables that were served with the dishes were still crunchy and not mushy. We came back the next morning and ordered two lemondades. Light crisp and refreshing

Two shrimp grilled tacos (bottom), one shrimp grilled taco and a crab quesadilla above.

The food is great--fresh tortillas and seafood. Friendly service. Excellent prices, shady and cool outdoor seating made for a festive ambiance.

Decent food with good inside and outside seating options. It is just under the river bridge by the river markets. They had a very good green juice as well. Definitely a nice breakfast or lunch spot!

Nice corner spot for lunch or dinner. Their seafood menu was nice and their mango margarita was fantastic. Service was excellent and they're open until 9 pm. Love the outdoor seating on both corner especially on a nice day. Located in Zona Romántica and right across the convenient store Oxxo. Service was excellent and super friendly Cheers!

Great food and warm service. Raul was our server and he was amazing and provided wonderful service. The fried shrimp and fried fish tacos were delicious! Would definitely come again!

The food was absolutely delicious. We started out with the crab empanadas which was fresh sweet crab. They have some amazing sauces to choose from. My husband had the mixta tostada which had shrimp, octopus and marlin. He also had a marlin tostada which he loved. I don't have a pic for the crab tostada because we killed it so fast. I will definitely be back!

Food was really good, fresh, and decently priced. Nice cold beer . Server was very friendly.

Food is always on point. Love their shrimp burritas. Great service and very inexpensive for seafood. Highly recommend.

    Passion fruit agua fresca.

Absolutely fantastic meal with huge portion sizes. If you order a large agua fresca it'll come in a liter mug and that is now the only size of agua fresca that I will ever accept from a place ever. The seafood tasted fresh, the chips were crispy, the salsa was spicy, and the service was friendly and fast. I will 100% be eating here again this trip and many more trips to come.

After looking up good places to go, Bar La Playa came up- and I'm sure glad it did! First, it's easy to get to if you're coming from North. Our Uber was easily able to drop us off without getting stuck in gridlock traffic that can affect certain roads of this area. Additionally, the location isn't a high-traffic area for tourists. That meant we were able to walk up and immediately find seats. Second, the service was top notch. I didn't get the bartenders name, but he was very welcoming, friendly, hospitable and spoke English. Just an overall cool dude and was glad to support his business. Third, the drinks were great. Finally, we were drinking 'real' drinks, not the watered down sugary stuff at the hotel. We were very satisfied with the taste of the drinks. Fourth, the prices are really good. Mexico has gotten expensive and this was a sigh of relief. You can have a great time here without feeling like you paid an arm and a leg. I highly-highly recommend making Bar La Playa your first stop when coming to this area. You're going to get great service, great drinks and all at a price that is reasonable and fair.

They use tanqueray as their house gin which is unusual but a pleasant surprise as it actually happens to be my preferred brand. I didn't have high hopes for the martini - I find that outside of major U.S. cities places end up putting in way too much vermouth - and it actually ended up being fantastic. It didn't taste too different from what I would make at home which is probably the best thing I could say about a martini (for my own personal taste). I tried a fruitier one - the Gigi - as my second and final drink. It was good but I'm just not a fruity drink person. I just wasn't equipped to handle another standard martini lol. The ambiance is phenomenal - it was both casual and comfortable yet classy. The crowd was much older than I expected although not in a bad way at all. There were lots of expats in their 50s and 60s. I was worried it would be a rowdy rooftop and by contrast it was actually a very chill vibe. Only complaint is that the bathroom is outside of the venue down the stairs and you need a key to enter, which was a bit annoying bc I wanted to use the restroom before I left and I forgot to ask for the key on my way out. Small annoyance and certainly wouldn't prevent me from going back.

They were pretty nice to us, just a touch rude to another group of patrons from what I saw while we were here - at least at the door. The bartenders are fun. The music is epic. High energy. Outside patio area is gorgeous. We didn't stay here long at all. We just didn't vibe with this hot spot as much as other places, but still a great place. You'll find people engaged in all sorts of activities ....eating, drinking, dancing, and socializing. Andale is the place to have a great time. Today, for some reason, the restaurants and bars on the street seemed less crowded. It was a Wednesday night when we finally stepped foot into Andale's. We ordered margaritas, shots of anejo tequila, and a beverage; we had already had dinner elsewhere. The DJ was playing a mix of 90s R&B, reggaeton, country, and pop music, and the whistle blowing from the staff added to the lively and exciting atmosphere. I must admit, though, the loud whistle blowing now and then annoyed me, I managed to drown it out somehow. If you plan to visit Andale, expect fun and lively atmosphere with plenty of staff ready to serve you.

During our cruise stop in Puerto Vallarta, we decided to have lunch at Andale's Restaurant & Bar…read more The main reason was to try their well-known Chile en Nogada and experience a local restaurant while we were in port. The restaurant itself was pleasant. Service was friendly, the atmosphere was lively, and it was a comfortable place to sit down, relax, and enjoy a meal. For visitors spending a few hours in town, it's an easy and convenient option. That said, after the meal, I felt the restaurant's biggest strengths were its location and atmosphere rather than the food itself. I specifically ordered the Chile en Nogada, which is considered one of their signature dishes. Presentation was beautiful: a large poblano pepper covered in a rich walnut sauce and topped with pomegranate seeds. It certainly looked impressive when it arrived at the table. The flavor, however, was not what I expected. The pepper was very soft and mild, with no heat at all. The filling combined meat, fruit, and spices, giving it a noticeable sweetness. The walnut sauce was thick, creamy, and nutty, but also surprisingly sweet. When everything came together in one bite, I tasted sweetness, savoriness, nuttiness, and the flavor of the pepper all at once. I can appreciate the complexity and understand why this dish is considered a traditional classic, but personally I struggled with the combination. As the meal went on, the sweetness became more prominent, and the dish started to feel like something caught between an entrée and a dessert. It wasn't bad--it just wasn't something I would order again. We also tried a few other Mexican dishes during the meal. They were perfectly acceptable, but nothing really stood out. The overall food quality felt average: not disappointing, but not memorable either. Throughout the meal, I couldn't shake the feeling that this was a restaurant designed primarily for visitors. The menu, atmosphere, and clientele all felt very tourist-oriented. For travelers looking for a convenient and comfortable place to eat, that may be exactly what they're looking for. But for those hoping to discover exceptional Mexican cuisine, I think there are probably better options in Puerto Vallarta.
